Hi All, I keep reading that the cost of living in Sydney is crazy. We are aiming for Sydney suburbs maybe even central coast. In the U.K. We keep hearing cost of living matches the wages over there but it's sounding really expensive. Its got me really worried! We are a couple with a toddler, 1 dog and 2 cats. We aren't picturing going out in the evenings cos of childcare but we are imaging needing a car too. A friend sent me her financial breakdown and some stuff converted seems very similar but as expected food seems expensive but she said that the cost of living nowhere near matched the wages ! Oh gosh - I hope I'm not in for an nasty surprises. Where are you heading? I have a teaching contact in NSW and I heard that you can't start working straight away or get a job from here because of the working with children check that needs to be done in person before you can get the state registration in order to teach :-( Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz

Hi guys Partner and I are just discussing timelines and I've heard you need to active the visa within a year of DBS or medical (whichever is first) Does anyone know how far into the process they ask for these? Just trying to figure out how much time we have from lodging the application to them requesting medical and police check etc only because we don't plan on activating and then returning but activating and staying. Thanks

Does anyone know about having a year from the date of police checks and Medicals , to land and activate visas? I'm a bit confused . my qualification assessment is on its way back to me , we've done our English tests and the hopefully in 2 weeks we submit EOI. Similarly to Nelly - we are getting jobs once out there. Terrifying but hopefully worth it!

I thought online it says up to 7 months??
