  1. £7k is roughly double in AUD, so plenty. Especially if you'll be working too. Just go steady in the first couple of months to find your feet and your spending allowances. You're taking way above the average person for a WHV who normally take about £4-£5k.
  2. No Live Trace means you have a PNC Record but it won't show on Barring & Disclosure requests or of that sort, such as a Police Check for immigration etc... However, it will still show up on PNC, your custody record, crime report and outcome. Hope that helps. Best to put it in your application just explaining what happened and the outcome. No Trace and No Live Trace are two different things and I am sure the Case Officer will be aware what it means! That said, it was over 10 years ago, a very very minor offence and I imagine you've been of good character since. PNC = Police National Computer (now called Police National Database but still has that abbreviation)
  3. Best of luck! Be sure to write a review on here after so we can get some feedback
  4. You're confusing things. For your Working Holiday Visa you "may" need a medical... You don't if you're from the UK. What is being said is that you may have to undertake a medical to work in healthcare. Which would happen in Australia when you go for the job. I don't know if you actually have to do a medical. But let's keep things simple here. No medical needed for the 417 WHV Visa
  5. You say 3 years - but a PTE exam certificate is valid for 2 years
  6. CapC, sorry.. I had to have a little chuckle... But who is Laura? ;-)
  7. Yes, as you may be questioned by customs when leaving the country and questioned when entering Australia. You will have to show: 1. Evidence of further funds (ie bank account) or; 2. A return flight
  8. What? This is about a service provider... Mobile, broadband....
  9. North Perth Bayswater Yokine Mount Lawley Dianella I'd recommend all of those.
  10. Yeah, the "Request Complete" button will have been there for your birth certificate and PCC So you're all sorted then. Task done for the CO
  11. You could have purchased a dental plan... Depending on how much you pay (tier) then that would depend on what level of treatment you can claim for.
  12. In terms of training in Australia on a 417 Working Holiday Visa, no... The visa wouldn't allow you to do that You would need to apply for a student visa and then take up study. Hope that helps.
  13. In terms of being a general labourer, bricky, carpenter etc... That would come under a Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) skills assessment. In order to get a positive outcome, you need to be working at the required skill level, post qualifying in that trade, for 3 years and for the past 12 months also. Based on what you've said, I do not think you will get a positive skills assessment from TRA unless you have an equivalent qualification, for that trade, that matches the Australian skill level. Sorry
  14. Yes, but these tend to be poorly paid (but you do tend to get accommodation and food, I think) Don't forget, it's just about 3 months of your WHV that you need to do regional work. (Farming etc) some people decide to do that in their first three months of arriving to Aus for a few reasons: 1. They don't know anyone, so it's easier for them to go away for a few months and get it over and done with 2. They already have money saved up, by doing regional work, they aren't spending but perhaps making a little more too 3. They complete their 3 months so that they can have a good long time in Aus Others go straight into travelling & working in the big cities. Meet fellow backpackers and get attached to one another. Your choice. But either way, ensure that you have sufficient funds in your bank and enough for a return flight, or have your return flight already booked. Best of luck!
  15. Book your flights with an intended return date - say 12 months from arriving - that way you can amend it to come back earlier if you so desire and you can also evidence that you do not intend to overstay on your visa. Flights £800 generally. You may be able to get them cheaper. Take at least £3000 with you. You have accommodation, food, drink, transport to pay for. Start looking for a job as soon as you arrive; print off your resume. Do the Online RSA course so you can work in bars. Make sure the RSA course is for the state you intend on working in. Do not apply for jobs online. Human interaction is good and you're 99% more likely to get a job. Good luck
  16. Plenty of work if you look for it
  17. Well, all I know is her occupation is on the Skilled Occupations List... But apart from that, I'm not much help! There's plenty of schools in Perth. I am sure she will get a job
  18. A FOI Request wouldn't apply as it would be a Subject Access Request that I need, which I am unsure if our HO Border Force do... But thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into the Subject Access.
  19. That's good to know! I have subscribed to the PTE Academic online thing which seems to be OK but could do with more explanation rather than just practice questions, if you know what I mean? I am thinking about the PTE A revision book which I can get off of Amazon. Hopefully that will have more tips! Thanks
  20. Pommie, congrats! I can only hope I'll achieve a score near yours. I too need the extra 10 points in the "Superior" English. I've been studying on and off now for about a week, but I don't plan on taking my exam until at least November... So plenty of time! The problem I seem to be facing right now is I am over complicating my answers when summarising paragraphs. For example, the answer should have been "Due to Bill and Bob, the endangered turtles have a better chance of survival" whereas I go into far more detail. Any advice? Native English speaker and what not etc etc...
  21. My passport is pretty new - as for stamps - generally speaking, the did't really do stamps in Europe let alone even look at your passport!
  22. Rachel I can completely relate to your son. 100%. I am exactly the same (or used to be) when something was happening in my life that I am nervous about. He will most likely be anxious and nervous about the flight and going to Australia for that period of time. He will act up, put a barrier up (it's human nature not to show weakness) and be nasty. The other thing is... He is a teenager. Hormones will be all over the place, especially with unnecessary stress and not getting out much. He's probably being nasty because he doesn't want to get upset himself. He's putting this barrier up to protect himself and you. He doesn't want to cry, get all emotional and then not want to go. Trust me on this one. When he gets to Aus and he is away from his mum for a few weeks, he will wish that he never said the things he did. Never did the things he did. Probably get a little homesick and when he comes back (which might be sooner than what you think) you will be closer than ever. Just play it out for a few weeks, but don't be taken for a mug. He wants your reactions for the attention. You getting mad at him shows that you do actually care and love him. We work in mysterious ways, but this behaviour is totally normal. If you want to PM me about the "finding himself" part with more details - as I have another story that could help - then feel free. My inbox is always there :-) Take care. X
  23. Is there any way of getting your travel records from the Home Office? For the Form 80, as most of you will know, asks for the past 10 years of your travel history. I've managed to get the past two years, possibly three sorted... But 10 years ago I was 11 years old! I have done a lot of travelling with my family, going away 2 or 3 times a year. Can anyone shed any light on how to supply this information if you simply cannot remember the dates? Ta :-)
