  1. Hi Laura. Thanks for that I will contact TSS Immigration and see if they can help me. What's the name of the Facebook page for the Poms moving to Oz? I live in Corbridge, Northumberland and hoping to head to the GC area around Brisbane. I have one daughter, she is 11. It is just myself and my daughter coming out so I'm a little uneasy about doing it on my own, though I do have friends in Perth, Adelaide and a friend of a friend in Broadbeach GC to help. I sold my house in September though I didn't make much out of it. I can't see me buying anywhere in Oz I'd be renting or even house sharing. I'm hoping I can share with another single mum or a girl/couple of girls around my age that don't mind me having a daughter. Again all that will fall into place hopefully when we arrive or if we arrive depending on sponsorship opportunities. I'm finding it really hard to to keep positive and it scares me as my planned date for coming out gets closer and I don't feel any further forward. When are are you hoping to head over, do you have a planned timeline? Do you know anyone in the area you are wanting to head to? I'd love to keep in contact, let me know how you guys get on too. louise
  2. Hi again, I'm applying under 'Film, Radio, TV, Stage Directors 'nec' or possibly 'Media Producer' both occupations are not on the SOL only the CSOL, so I need sponsorship like yourselves. I've been applying for TV jobs directly online at various major TV companies and media groups but not had much luck as yet. Its frustrating. If you don't mind me asking which agency are you in touch? with maybe they could assist me in my line of work? I am 44 so don't gain much points for that. I also have been told the sponsored temporary visa is not a surefire way to PR, but even if you are sponsored for two years a lot can happen in that time to change the course of you gaining residency so like you I think its worth giving it a try. The fact that you will have worked and lived in Australia for a couple of years can only gain you points on a visa application. I also thought while I'm working via a sponsorship I could take some further qualifications which would help towards PR. Where in the UK are you presently based? are you emigrating with children? Keep in touch and let me know how you get on Louise.
  3. I will do! look forward to it, best of luck settling in.
  4. Hi Scozzie, That all sounds great that your settled in varsity, its really nice and they kids are starting school soon, I'm really pleased for you, although starting work the day after moving must have been stressful! I have a friend who is in Broadbeach a little further up the GC has said we can stay with them short term till we find somewhere, which is a big relief. My biggest headache is my visa, I'm looking for sponsorship as my occupation is not on the SOL list. Been told I may have to come out and look for work whilst there...thats a bit un-nerving for me but may be the only way. I'm trying to contact as many employers as I can In the hope something may come of it.
  5. Is it costing you to be in touch with the recruitment agency and them put your husband forward for jobs? Are you applying via a 457 visa in order to be able to emigrate to Australia?
  6. So does that mean the process would be... find an employer willing to sponsor me, identify the chosen occupation they can sponsor me as, then apply for the visa and if a skills assessment is required apply for it via the assessing authority i.e. vetassess, tra, at that point?? I thought everyone had to have a skills assessment for a visa to prove they can do the job they are applying under, which is why there are assessing authorities next to every occupation on the Sol and CSOL lists??
  7. Hi Again, As an extension to my above post, can some one clarify the correct procedure? Can you have a skills assessment for migration purposes before finding a employer sponsorship or do you only get the vetassess skills assessment after you have found an employer to sponsor you? Hope someone can advise, Thanks
  8. Hi, I wonder if someone can assist me... I'm wanting to have a current skills assessment for an occupation on the CSOL list so that when I apply for jobs to Australian companies I can show them I already have the equivalent skills, qualifications, experience and paper work in place for sponsorship. I have identified my occupation so how do I go about putting in an application for the skills assessment?? How much does it cost and how long does it take...does anyone know? Thanks, Louisej323
  9. Hi Scozzie, Congratulations on your move...Which suburb have you moved to? and which school are you looking at for your children? In what way was the move harder than the UK? Sorry for all the questions, not being nosey just helping with prepping myself for when I make the move...
  10. Hi, been reading the above posts and I have friends who lived in various areas of the GC but settled in Robina near Varsity. She loved it, great community, close to the beach and both her chikdren went to varsity college and really loved it. So because of all the great feedback about the Robina, Varsity area and the Varsity College school I'm planning on heading over in March next year with my daughter...can't wait. I'd to keep in touch with the few of you who live nearby the Robina, Varsity area as my daughter and I will be on our own and would really like to make new friends and join meet ups etc to help settle in
  11. Thanks CaptainC and Bungo, I totally understand what you say and think I do need expert advice. I have contacted a migration agent from this site and hopefully I will get the advice and help I need to identify the right occupation and visa which I am eligible for. I'll keep in touch and let you know how I get on as you never know there may be other aspects of this hopeful move that I need help with. All the best and thanks again. Louise
  12. Thanks Captain C. I am so dissapointed my route in is so difficult and may actually not be viable. Its so flustrating especially when there is so much TV work over in Australia available for people with my skills and experience. :-( I think I may ask advice off VETASSESS and ask them to look over my CV and help me identify qualification equivilents and a possible occupation that my skills and experience may be suitable for.
  13. Its a difficult occupation to pin point because I'm predominantly a Production Co-ordinator and a Directors Assistant, therefore I'm not a Producer or a Director I'm the level below. If I went for Director or Producer as my occupation I do not have the degree qualification or the experience at that level to use instead of a formal qualification. TV Production Coordinator is an occupation on the ANZCO list but I can't find it on the SOL or CSOL. I have extensive experience of both Production co-ordinator and Directors assistant working at the BBC in the UK for 18 years and in Perth, WA in 2013. Program or Project Manager is the closest I could find to my Production Coordinator experience and thought it would be the closest match to have my skill level assessed for a positive skills assesment by VETASSESS. If you have any other ideas of occupations I'd be happy for the input because I feel like I'm going round in circles at the minute. Sometimes I wish I was a hairdresser as it would be a whole lot easier to get a visa!!
  14. Ok, I've read the occupation description for Program or Project Manager and it fits well with my Production Coordinator role. So would my next step be to apply to VETASSESS for a skills assessment under that occupation?
  15. ok, thanks for that so no point looking at the SA occupations, that narrows it down a little bit i suppose. So 511112 occupation could be a possible 457 visa? if it requires a 12 month job offer for sponsorship can the employer offer me a 4 year sponsorship? And what if the employer required me to work in different states occasionally at his various businesses in other states? would I be able to do that providing the visa is a WA sponsorship? I'm finding all this really confusing...My occupation is not so clear cut, working in Media for 18 years I have various skills and expertise and can work under different hats. For that reason its making it difficult choosing an occupation to apply for a visa under. I didn't really want to pay for a migration agent to asset my visa application but I feel like for the past 6 months I'm not getting any further forward and time is passing me by... Its quite frustrating!
