  1. I hope to make it. I arrive in Perth on the 24th of Feb. So providing I've got a few bits sorted and have converted my body clock to Aussie time I aim to pop down and say hello. Greggy
  2. Thank you everyone. I'd come across the ozvapour site before, but must have missed the Health WA site. The reason I asked was I got conflicting information from some friends in Oz who said it was pretty much illegal and that a lot of websites were not displaying the correct information. So, I thought I'd see if anyone on here was using vaping stuff over there and therefore could help clear up the confusion. In retrospect I should has said that in my opening post. Regards Greggy
  3. Thank you for all the details everyone. I've just emailed Sing Air, so hopefully that will be sorted shortly. Srg73, I shall follow your instructions to the letter, I've started practicing my smile in mirror so it looks happy, rather than causing concern that in might have escaped from somewhere. Ah, your from just up the road then, I'm a Tenterden boy. Kent is lovely, excusing the wind and rain we are currently having and that the doom mongers are saying will turn to snow soon. Other than that not much as changed i suspect. Oh, and they are now widening the A21 between Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge, which is about as exciting as its gotten recently. I shall send your regards to Tunbridge Wells, as I'm over that way this weekend. Regards Greggy
  4. Thank you. I'll give them a ring later and see what i need to do.
  5. Hello, Happy New year to all! I have a question regarding the laws around vaping. I gave up on the dreaded cigs about 18months ago and now vape. I don't want to get in to, or start, a debate about whether its better/worse for you etc. Lord knows i get enough of that from my friends and family. So can anyone help, what are the rules around vaping in Australia, and/or WA? Greg
  6. Hello everyone, Well after many months I finally head down under at the end of Feb, so its all madness this end trying to get sorted, packed and my life in order. Anyway, I remember reading somewhere, though I now can't find it, that Singapore airlines can offer extra baggage space free if I can prove I'm moving down-under with the right to remain indefinitely. Has anyone come across, or used, this? I expect its no longer done, but thought I'd ask on here before contacting them. Regards Greggy
  7. Hello, As some of you may know I've got my visa and will be heading down under around February next year. Now, i'm not a teacher, but the young lady I've been seeing is and we have been discussing my migration. She has suggested that she would like to get her own visa and come out after she completes the next academic year. However, her chief concern is that if she gives up her career here, she could struggle to get a job in Perth. She is at Secondary & Six Form teacher, teaching; Pyhcology, Health & Social Care and PHSE (at A-level and GCSE) Her qualifications are; Bsc in Pyhcology, and a PGCE with currently two years experience as a qualifed teacher. Can an anyone give us some advice on: What the chances of her getting a job in Perth? What it's like to teach at secondary level in Australia, compared to the UK? What the career prospects are like? And any other advice you think might be useful to her. As so, if anyone's looking on Railway Engineer, I'm free! Regards Greggy
  8. I was with True Blue Migration, http://truebluemigration.com/ I found them really good, cannot recommend then highly enough.
  9. Thanks Sandip, I got my email from my migration agent on the Sunday, the Visa was granted on the previous Friday. I can, I first kicked off the process in 2013, where I got my skills assessed as an Engineering Technologist on 18/02/13 I then Started doing ILETs tests, as at the time I hadn't been in my job role long enough to get the extra 5 points for experience and thus required a Level 8 on the ILETs to make up the difference. Sadly I kept getting 7.5 on the written part. So, I spoke with my agent and we agreed to postponed my application until I had the required points through work experience. I finally hit that mark September last year, but due to personal reasons I waited until January this year before kicking it all off again. From there; Uploaded to Skills Select at the start of Feb (I don't know the exact date as my agent did that for me). Called forward to apply on 23/02/15 Lodged on: 25/02/15 Medical: 13/03/15 CO assigned: 13/04/15 Police Check submitted (after one application getting lost in the post): 01/05/15 Granted: 01/05/15 So that is my process in a nut shell. I hope you hear back soon. Greg
  10. Well guys, I got my email on Sunday, I've been granted my visa. :-) I'm so happy right now its untrue. Sadly I've been working so haven't had time to celebrate yet. Greg
  11. It is good to see everyone is getting to hear the good news. :-) I'm really pleased for all of you and hope that soon I'll be able crack a bottle of something bubbly... I've just sent off my police check. Sadly my first application had gone walkies and wasn't received which is slightly irritating and caused me some fun, canceling bits and warning my bank, etc. So now its all a waiting game. I'm not nervous in anyway, much, often, frequently.... Greg
  12. Hi people, I took all the advice you all gave me, to get medical and police checks done. so now I'm just waiting on a CO. I gather the it's now getting close to the time we could be assigned..... It's all getting rather real and exciting, though it does feel like being in limbo a bit. Still it will all be worth it in the end. Good luck everyone. Regards greggy
  13. Hi folks, I'm pleased to say that I lodged last night. Been genuinely looking forward to the chance of posting on one of these threads. I received the invertation to apply on the 22nd of January and lodged today, after completing my form 80, getting my empolyment proof together and copy of my new passport. As yet I haven't applied for my police check and medical, I'm waiting for instruction on that. Im hoping to head to WA, were a couple of uni friends are living, and get a job on the railways as a structures inspector or project engineer. Im crossing my fingers it all goes well. Greggy
  14. Hello everyone, I'm Greg, I used to be on here a few years ago with my (now ex) partner. After some time off I've decided to continue with the application alone. Anyway, I'm 29 years old and a qualified Railway Engineer. I was invited to apply for a 189 visa at the end of Jan and will be doing so in the next week or so. I'm, hoping to head to Perth and would love to get on to the Aussie railways. So if anyone on here give me pointers on what it's like on the railways out there it would be much appreciated. Regards Greg
  15. Hello, I'm using True Blue Migration and have got to say they have been very helpful, and patient. I started the process of applying for 189 Visa about 2 years ago with my ex-partner and, when her and I seperated, True Blue were happy to wait until I decided whether I wanted to continue alone or not. They have been very helpful and made the whole process, to this current point, smooth and relatively easy. Greg
