  1. May be worth doing the drive to Mandurah for that. I really have been ripped-off - big time!!!
  2. Will do - would rather get it done locally, but just don't want to pay crazy prices.
  3. Either the east coast is a lot cheaper than Perth, or dental cost have sky-rocketed in three years.
  4. The reviews are a little mixed for this dentist.
  5. Yep - dental insurance a good idea. But not been here long so wouldn't have qualified
  6. Understand you are defending your profession, Gumster, but the ridiculous costs cannot be justified.
  7. This is my story. Broke a crown, post of crown cracked root into which it was fixed. Dentist removed both, took impressions for temporary plate to hold said tooth. All-up $2400. Can't wear temp plate as gives me a ridiculous lisp and difficult to eat with a thick lump of plastic behind my front teeth, so have a lovely gap, much to the amusement of my work colleagues. Advised inplant would cost a further $8000. Permanent plate, hopefully less intrusive, wouldn't be much less. It is likely that another crown maybe on its last legs. Lot of money if you add it up. Apparently I will also need new impressions too as originals just had one purpose for temp plate.
  8. Australian dentists are far too expensive and I have heard that overseas dentists in Asia are just as good, if not better in some cases, and charge half the amount. So, you get a holiday and your dental work done and come back saving huge amounts! But, I need to know if anyone has a recommendation before I leap into the unknown. Thanks
  9. Process started - we have gone with easymigrate in Perth and hope to get a shorter route to an 864 as we are already queued for an 804. Exciting stuff.
  10. Ah, got it. So, we need an 864 and we would be switchers. As we have only just had medical etc. and have made it to the 'queue' for the 804, will we still need to go through all that again? $50k each - Wow, not a cheap route then. I have heard of Go Matilda. May need that type of assistance. Thanks for your advice
  11. Oh dear - no advice. Thought this might be a tricky one!
  12. Homesickness is real. I know how you eel, but it is a sickness that passes. Stop comparing, start embracing the difference. You will settle if you get involved and see the very best in everything here. Once you start comparing and criticising the rot sets in and you spiral down. Fake it until you make it - start the day believing in yourself and the move you have made. Get out there. You will feel sick inside sometimes - but push it away. Be determined. You will regret giving up so easily. It takes at least two years to start feeling really settled. Do it for your kids.
