  1. Hi all I seem to be a little confused as there was someone saying the other day that your documents that you upload for your 189 visa do NOT need to be certified. Is this correct? I only ask as I've just been on Australian Border Force website and it states the following: "All supporting documents must be scanned and uploaded with your application. All documents that you provide must be certified copies of original documents. Do not include original documents unless specifically requested to do so by the department. Documents not in English must be accompanied by accredited English translations." Questions: 1. I have all of my documentation for my Skills Assessment that I am taking to my solicitors tomorrow to get certified. Should I: 1a: photocopy all of my documents before he certifies every document 1b: photocopy my documents after he has certified every document This is for when I do my 189 visa and I upload the documents. Seeing as they're scanned up to their database, surely they won't be able to tell if they're a photocopy of the copy of the original document? Thanks.
  2. The three months starts! I've yet to submit my skills assessment. Being 21, there isn't any rush for moi! Keep us updated :-)
  3. It's the residency requirement. You need to be in the country for a minimum of three years. Usually, this timeline starts if you've spent either 6 or 12 months out of the UK.
  4. Ruddy nora! Well, best of luck. I am sure you'll get it! Thankfully, being a solo applicant, mine will cost £2k. Where are you thinking on moving to?
  5. Just out of interest - you've paid your £4k presumably for a couple of you on the 189 visa... God forbid your visa is rejected, do Australian Border Force keep your £4k or is it only take if your 189 is successful?
  6. Just wait a little longer. The next EOI rounds are soon. There's a slight backlog.
  7. You can download the PDF file of the Form 80 and complete it on your computer. Save it, then upload it to your immiaccount. Print off the page that requires your signature, then sign it and scan and upload that one. You'll find that if you print and sign it then scan the entire document, the file will be too big.
  8. And are you a native English speaker?
  9. Hi Sarah Yes you can front load documents before the CO requests them, such as Police Checks from ACRO and your medicals. Best of luck!! :-)
  10. I've completed the Form 80 and not even got my Skills Assessment yet! It's actually very, very simple... but I don't think I'll be asked for one giving that I am 21 years old and a solo applicant? What are the reasons why they request a Form 80?
  11. I too am going for the PTE Academic. The revision seems more laid out and simple to follow, whereas the IELTS just seems to complicate things for no reason at all. Maybe that's because I am 21 and not ancient - that is my take on IELTS that is just doesn't meet todays technology! The PTE Academic has a really good online revision website too. I paid for the Gold Package which gives me two marked test papers (you do it all from the comfort of your home) which are sent off and marked - results within 24 hours. You can then see what level you are working at and where to improve. For example, from doing the test papers, I got 90 (full marks) in Speaking, whereas I was lacking marks in Listening, Reading and Writing. The aim for me is to achieve at least 80 in each module as I need "Superior" English for some extra points on my 189 Visa. Good luck!
  12. I am a Roof Plumber by trade and in order to gain the positive Skills Assessment from Trades Recognition Australia, you need to have 3 years POST QUALIFICATION experience. Generally speaking, 3 years is the minimum most assessing authorities will accept.
  13. The thing is, even if I do manage to find this company, they most likely won't give me a reference or cooperate. Any insight into that?
  14. Thanks AJ - supervisor reference not possible as I'm the supervisor.! What would the stat dec need to read? Thanks
  15. Afternoon / evening I have obtaining employer references for my TRA except one. This is due to me not knowing any contact details for the company anymore and they do not seem to have a website or any other means. Besides that, that particular employer was a bit of a *insert naughty word here* and he did not end up paying in full in the end for the contracted work. Can any advice what to do in regards to not being able to obtain the reference? Do I just ignore it and not put them in? I literally did about 2 or 3 weeks for them. So nothing major. Cheers.
  16. Yeah I've been following these threads about the different exams and PTE seems to be favoured at the moment. I will probably give both a try to see which suits me best and to see how far away I am from the "Superior" English on both - hopefully not too distant. Likewise, if it cannot be achieved, it's a further two years wait to gain the extra work experience evidence for the extra points! Which isn't all that bad I suppose.
  17. I went to Australia for 4 weeks in January so just want to fill in the gap. I know it isn't relevant, but just want to make sure. 4 weeks is nothing to wait when you've been waiting 3 years.
  18. Makes sense. I do not need any for my Skills Assessment, but just for the 189 visa. Hmm... decisions decisions! I have been doing the PTE Academic online tests to get some practice in. Its a lot harder than what you think!
  19. Evening all. I have just been doing some browsing on the new Border.gov.au website and was looking into the 189 visa to see if anything had changed from the previous immi.gov.au For my English Language Ability I need to achieve 'Superior' English to score 20 points. Now. This is where you lot come in. The website states: [h=1]How can I prove I have superior English?[/h]To prove that you have superior English you must provide evidence of one of the following: You have achieved a score of at least 8 in each of the four test components (speaking, reading, listening and writing) in an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test that has been undertaken in the three years immediately prior to lodging the visa application. You have achieved a score of 'A' in each of the four test components of an Occupational English Test (OET) that has been undertaken in the three years immediately prior to lodging the visa application. You have achieved the following minimum test scores in each of the four test components: 28 for listening, 29 for reading, 30 for writing and 26 for speaking, in a Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based test (TOEFL iBT) test that has been undertaken in the three years immediately prior to lodging the visa application. You have achieved a test score of at least 79 in each of the four test components (speaking, reading, listening and writing) in a Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic that has been undertaken in the three years immediately prior to lodging the visa application. You have achieved a test score of at least 200 in each of the four test components (speaking, reading, listening and writing) in a Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) test that has been undertaken on or after 1 January 2015 and prior to lodging the visa application. Previously, I was certain that you could only use IELTS and PTE Academic for the 189 Visa unless you were a Medical Professional so in that case you would take the OET and so on... Would I be right in saying that they will NOW accept any of the above? Ta.
  20. Afternoon (or morning)! TRA is now ready to send off. Giving it till August though before I ship it down under. Excited!
  21. When I went to Perth WA (Wait Awhile) on my WHV, I sent out hundreds of resumes on the Internet. Got nothing back. Walked into a popular well known bar on Beaufort Street. Got the job there and then. The irony is, when I returned to the UK I started getting interview offers for the jobs I sent for online! Haha. Don't give in. You'll only regret it later in life!
  22. How does one see the ceilings for your group? Can you see how many visas are left for your occupation in a 189?
  23. Evening all I was wondering if you had a Criminal Record / Custody Record / PNC intelligence and you got your 189 Visa Granted, does that go to Australia with you? I.e. Does it transfer over to their systems? When applying for jobs do you need to put down XYZ happened in England? Or do you get a "new slate" so to say? Would I be right in saying that as far as immigration goes, Australia aren't interested in criminal history if you've not spent 12 months in prison / suspended sentence or something? Ta.
