  1. Thank you. That's what I'm thinking. I know how hard it's been for us to get into Aus and wish I had had this opportunity available to me when I was younger xx
  2. Not sure if her mother would allow us to that, plus my OH has a son who is only 10 - I think to do it with one, we would need to do it with the other so as not to upset him. The cost factor definitely is better is we include her on the 189, or even both - might be something worth sitting down and discussing with the ex-wife, if we explain the benefits of it for them in later life. Thanks for your help xx
  3. Interested in the reponse to this as my OH has a daughter who would like co come join us once we get out 189's and have got a house etc. She is only 14, 15 this year so hoping it will be a straight forward process to bring her over next year to continue her education xx
  4. Congrats Claire, well done. I've been following this post with interest, so good to see you guys get your visas granted!! xx
  5. We're just at skills assessment stage and my OH has never been to Oz tho I was there for 6 months in 2008/9. We are of the opinion that you only live once. It's just jobs and bticks and mortar we're giving up. Whats the worst that can happen, we don't like it and have to come home or live with the regrets and what ifs. Can't wait to get back out there!! xx
  6. I feel you're pain. My OH had to do the AQF 3 so he could submit to TRA, that took a few months and we thought it was just a case of submitting to TRA and getting it back in 2-3 weeks. What a shock that was when our agent said 12 weeks. Good luck with your application. make sure you have everything else sorted and in place before this gawd awful stage xx
  7. Every night is a sleepless night. I eat, sleep & dream TRA & visa's - it's taken over my life lol xx
  8. @PomCop our agent confirmed that our forms where posted 30/01 & TRA received our application on 12th Feb which means the 60 day clock starts as of the 12th Feb - very frustrating and another 2-3 weeks onto our guesstimated dates xx
  9. Will do - our stuff got submitted on the 30th Jan and not the 26th that we thought. Have emailed our agent to find out if they have received the acknowledgement email to confirm receipt by TRA as I believe the 60 day clock doesnt start until that date. Will keep you in the loop @PomCop xx
  10. Thanks Leah, that makes me feel a bit better. He's a painter and I believe we only have the 1 stage so hopefully we get the letter soon xx
  11. Hi, has anyone recently had a positive skills assessment back from TRA? If so, how long did the whole process take? Thanks
  12. Their website is http://www.skillingaustralia.com/ & the contact number is 0203 435 9222 xx
  13. Hi Connor, Skilling Australia came out to our house to assess my OH as he done the AQF3 Painting & Decorating. If you have a site they can come out to then they can do that as well and assess you there. Suppose it depends on your trade and what they want to see from. My OH hung some paper, painting a bit of wall - was really easy and quick xx
  14. Not all recruitment consultants are undeducated x
  15. On no.3 I think as long as you can show a weekly wage going in for the period you'll be fine. My OH is going for the 189 and had his own business before his current employer. They wanted company accounts as proof that he was indeed working but we didn't have them. Instead our agent has asked us to provide bank statements to cover that period, not for every month but just a few over the course of each year. Hope this helps xx
  16. We're hoping to go to Secret Harbour / Rockingham. Wbu?? xx
  17. Hi Chris, Stilck it in google and have a look at the jobs advertised on seek.au. From what I can see average hourly rate is just under $30ph so on a 40hr working week I would say a yearly salary of $62400 - there is a site that works out your take home pay http://www.paycalculator.com.au/ so have a quick look at that. Hope this helps, tho I'm sure there will be working brickies that will come back to you with more accurate rates xx
  18. Hi Emma, We're looking to move over from Scotland in June and we have friends there just now. One is a carpenter and he says there is loads of work. My OH is a painter to trade and he said that there was plenty of work for painters as well. Hope this helps. Susan xx
  19. Has anyone used TRA for their skills test. My OH is a painter and we have submitted the paperwork today to TRA. Our agent has advised there is a 2 month turnaround on this but I've seen other people have this back in 2 weeks. Can anyone advise how long they waited? Thanks xx
  20. Glad you've settled in well. We're due to make the move June and it's not happening quickly enough but still very exciting non the less xx
  21. Sounds like hell!! lol Can't wait to move over in June xx
  22. Congrats Bear, hope the move is everything you dreamed it would be. Currently in the visa process myself and its a road of many ups and downs. Good luck xx
