Thanks @CazBrady They've failed us on the AQF 3 that we've submitted saying they don't recognise it & a few other minor things. All the evidence was there 1st time & our agent doesn't understand it xx

Has anyone every had a failed skilled assessment from TRA that they took to appeal? If so what was the outcome after appeal and how long did it take? Thanks, Susan

We're the same in terms of work, that's why we are leaving the final decision until we get there. We've had a few companies say they have work there for my OH but until we get there and get a contract in place we don't want to get too attached to one area. Just need our TRA skills assessment to come back next week and then its full steam ahead with the EOI Have you joined the Poms in Perth forum, thats also really good for info and as the title says is all about Perth xx

Hi Christian, we're hoping to be there around July / August - do you have an info on what its like for painters workwise at the moment? My OH is a manager and he is well aware he'll more than likely need to go back on the tools, we've been checking Seek and there seems to be quite a few jobs there but we have also been offered a painting role in Sydney, there seems to be more work there but the cost of living appears much higher. We're moving to Perth, hopefully in the next month or 3, we don;t have kids but our friends are there already and they have 3 kids between the ages or 3 & 13 and they are based in Secret Harbour. They love it there and we'll be heading there initially until we decide on a suburb for ourselves - though we are swaying with Freo just now xx

We've paid £2200 but I've seen others with it slightly cheaper and some a bit more expensive. Xx

Hi @Mazza227. Yes still waiting. That's us at week 12 now. The friend that I mentioned above got hers this week, 13 week wait so hoping we get ours back next week. It's very frustrating but the end is now in sight hang in there xx

A 189 Perm Residency Visa sounds like your best bet. We are using a migration agent but a lot of people choose not to. Always worth speaking to a MARA registered agent who usually give out some free advise before decided on what is the best route for you to take. You would have a year from the date of your medicals/police check to validate your visa - these are usually asked for these a few weeks before they grant the visa so I would say you have slightly more than 6 months to validate it. We started the process last June but my OH needed to do the AQF3 to submit for his skills assessment which we are hoping to get back soon and submit the visa application, so depending on your personal circumstances the process can take about a year to get moving anyway. Hi Guys, We are looking to move to Perth on a 189 around July. My OH is a painter to trade though is a manager where he works currently. He is under no illusion that he will probably need to get back on the tools initially. Can anyone tell me what the work situation is like for painters just now - from what I can see from Seek, there seems to be quite a few adverts, but having worked in recruitment myself I know that adverts don't necessarily mean 'real' jobs. One person at a company making a mistake should not tar the whole company. Alan was very quick to pick this up, apologise and advise that his colleague had been put right. I've seen many people use his company on another forum with nothing but good words to say about them.

Thank you for your help and information on this subject @Ozmaniac. We spoke to the kids mother at the week-end, she is more than happy to allow us to add the kids to our visa application now. Next step speak to our agent and see what additional documents we need to provide. Thanks again xx

Exactly why we used an agent - for something so minor to loose you your whole application. £2k to an agent is nothing faced with having to do it all again. @alan Colett seems like a good guy from what I have heard (PWO member lol). Good luck and hope it works out all ok for you @syedusman1 xx

My agent has all this information from me and we are not ready to submit for our 189's yet. I honestly wouldn't worry that anything untowards will happen with your stuff but if you feel so strongly about it then I suggest an open and honest discussion with your agent about your fears xx
