  1. Hi all quick query, just got off the phone with my Visa Agent (MARA certified) and along with Work PaySlips she's asked me to send her a photocpoy of my Passport and Birth Certficate. Having been a victim of Identity Theft before you'd understand that I'm a bit dubious about sending that sort of information out, are they absolutley necessary at this time? I need to find a Job first before i can apply for the Visa (457) so simply just asking if it is OK to send them, just a bit worried that's all. Thanks
  2. Thanks for the replies, Groundsman so it's TRA, just going back to 8/9/10 years ago I can't remember the exact dates as I was in and out of a few jobs at that time so wondered how thorough they are likely to be.
  3. Hi all, as the title suggests, when applying for a Visa? I've heard the Authorities check back through your work history with a fine toothcomb, therefore I need to know how far back so I can get my previous employment dates exactly right, as I've heard if you get it wrong all hell breaks lose on you if they discover you worked somewhere longer than you stated! Thanks
  4. Hi guys just a quick bit of advice if you'd be so kind, I've got one of these Visas (title) and it says: Must Not Arrive After = 07 June 2015 Stay Period = 3 month(s) from the date of each arrival As I'm going in April do I need to renew/extend the Visa first? or am I ok staying there until July when I'd have to do a Visa Run anyway? Hope that makes sense, thanks
  5. Starting off in Brisbane and job hunting from there but will be happy to land a job anywhere for starters, not fussed where I end up!
  6. crikey that cheap!? Awesome thanks! yeah read about that elsewhere on this forum, looks like I'll be buying there anyway now. Thanks chaps
  7. Hi all, I'm off to Aus on Holiday soon and whilst I'm there I will be checking out potential places of employment. Whilst I understand this is "frowned upon" by the authorities I'd much prefer to Phone and potentially meet in person my places of interest to get initial feedback before e-mailing/posting/handing over a CV. Now the problem is when out there on my normal UK phone contract that would cost a small fortune (I've checked the Roming Charges for my provider). So is it best to: a) Get a dirt cheap phone here then a PAYG sim card on arrival? b) Get a dirt cheap phone in AUS with a PAYG sim card? My dirt cheap I mean a Nokia 3310 style jobby, something that makes calls, no need for Internet guff! Many Thanks, Ambrose
  8. Hi all, I came across this (fantastic) site when researching a MARA agent to use for my impending Oz experience, since then I have browsed the forums and learnt a lot from the many posts so Thank You already  About me, well I'm a Groundsman (Greenkeeper), late 30s looking to settle in Aus on a 457 Visa intially once I can find a job. As it's a bit of a niche market with my profession I'm hoping my years of experience can help me get the job I want, if not then I'll settle for any Groundsman style job to get started. I have no wife, kids, pets, no House or Flat to worry about here....just myself and my few possessions! I've got a couple of burning questions but will ask those in the relevant forums, I look forward to hanging out here, Thanks again, Ambrose
