    schooling

what state are you going to? Yes I think it works well my daughter is in year 8 and we are hoping to move this summer it will take a while to secure where we are living but this way she can start year 9 at the end of Jan instead of Sept and won't miss out. Hopefully the pupils will be the same level academically.

    schooling

The Aussie school year runs from the end of Jan, the summer hols are at christmas! I think all states start high school in year seven now although I'd check, we are going to Queensland and they recently changed to year 7 from 8. Therefore your son will start high school at the end of Jan 2018. Also note that you will have to pay for schooling unless he's an Aussie even if he is, he will still need to provide supplies; books, stationary ect some schools also state you need to supply laptops etc. Eduction is on a state basis so check with the State you are going too's education department.
  5. It's a pain traveling to London but we stayed overnight in a family room at premier inn and made it into a mini sight seeing break. The interview took 10 mins, They basically check all your documents in front of you, so if you do go make sure you have everything. They were fast and friendly.

    Sick Dog!!

Thanks Snifter thats a great idea, yes she is the shar-pei in the picture but sadly looks nothing like that now-a-days. Put off moving for years as it is, while kids from previous marriage grew up, not getting any younger and were going to take her but as she's had so many problems, we took her to get her spayed before taking her to Aussie and that is when the vet said he needed to take her eyes out. Still will look into your idea.
  7. Hi Sounds a complicated situation. I can't help with most of it but I British my husband is Aussie and we have two children together and one other each who our over 18. My British son can't go at all now as he is a non dependent something to bear in mind with the older stepson. I can't tell if any of the children are jointly yours we applied for citizenship from the UK and then Aussie passports in that way only I have to apply for a visa. Although you Still need to list whose going you don't need to pay the suppliments per child on the visa nor do they have to pay £280 pounds each for the medical. It also means they don't have to pay for schooling once they arrive in Australia. You all also need to get signed permission both for the visa's and medicals from the biological fathers regardless of wether they see the children or not. All the children have to take a medical regardless of wether they are going with you unless they are Australian citizens.

    Sick Dog!!

We really don't know what to do with our dog she is only 5 but doubt we will be able to get her rehomed. She has no eyes, can only eat minced rabbit (everything else goes straight through her and she loses weight to the point of death), she ends up losing great patches of hair whenever she gets stressed. She would have to go to Melborne then fly on but I don't know that anyone would take her anyway with all her problems.
  9. Just to let you know that I have now got a CO: WP. Confirmed that it's 10-14months from application so that's April-Aug 2016. Said not to do medical or Police checks until after 12th Dec. Feels more real now!
  10. sorry you are having problems. Sounds like a normal 12 year old through: I've heard the exact same expressions, straight in from school to room and playing parents off against each other, all standard behaviour believe me I've had four! It's great he's got this to broaden his horizons and seeing his dad will be good for him even if it makes you anxious. Maybe he's worried that you won't want him back kids think the oddest things at times. While it's cool you're not fussing but crapping yourself inside maybe he does need to know. As for the PS4 you'll have to call the shot on that one. You're not happy to be separated from the child you love maybe it's the same for him can't take a teddy or security blanket at 12, on the other hand it would be good to spend quality time with dad, explore Aussie lifestyle, I'd certainly make the point it risks getting lost or damaged, It'll be waiting for him when he get home
  11. Congratulations!! Very little chance of that from the UK. Wish you both a happy life in OZ.
  12. How long does it take to get a CO? I've hit the four week mark and still haven't got one! Starting to panic, the only saving grace is that no-one else has added CO's to pookie72's list yet that applied similar time.
  13. Hi can't help but comment on your post, You should get another opinion on your daughter. Who told you she didn't have Aspergers because she was too clever? that's the whole point of an Aspergers syndrome diagnosis as opposed to classic/Kanner autism. The children should fulfil the Triad of impairments needed for an autism diagnosis but unlike classic autism where there is often accompanying learning difficulties, children have average or above intelligence. Einstein is an example! I must say I'm only a parent of a child with classic Autism but wanting to learning as much as I could have taken a diploma in it and read practically every book going. A high intelligence level doesn't mean your daughter does or doesn't have Aspergers just the reason for a negative diagnosis isn't her been to intelligence. I would certainly get the point clarified.
  14. I have just paid online with a visa debit there is a $50 surcharge added immediately and then a percentage charge which I think was 1% for visa and 2.5% for MasterCard there is a drop down box listing cards and percentages. I don't know If the bank will charge for Currency exchange as well. Needs Must!
  15. Hubby and Kids got their Aussie passports yesterday,Submitted my off shore partner visa Straight away. completed Uploading documentary evidence today. Now we Wait..
  16. Hi, We are doing exactly the same thing! My hubby is Aussie by birth. I filled in the 118 online. It took 3 weeks and the children got their citizenship on the 29th April. They do need Australian passports to go into Australia. All under 18 passports and any long term lapsed adult passports have to be lodged in person at Australia house in London. However the children do not need to attend just one of the parents they ring the other parent and both parents need to sign a form in front of a witness to state they know about the application. The interview is 10 mins over a counter but compulsory. We did spend a fortune as can't rely on transport booked train then heard train strike so booked coach as well. Had to stay overnight so booked a family room at premier inn another £150 but worth it in the long run when compared to price of visa's and medicals! Make sure both adults passports are in date as you will need both to lodge your visa application.
  17. Oh Lenin, I am so sorry my heart goes out to you and your family. I really do not think that your mother and brother would be able to go to Australia. Basically anyone who they may have to support financially or through services is a no go. As far as I can see your only chance is if you can prove that you would be able to support them throughout their lives, Pretty much what Bristolman is saying. Hopefully one of the migration experts on here can help. Good luck to you and your family!
  18. Many thanks to you all for replying, you have been very helpful.
  19. How does the education system work in Australia? My daughter is at high school in the UK, we are hoping to move to Queensland next year. Do Aussie students do exams at 16 or just at 18? Do they get certificates in individual subjects or simply a high school certificate and would a certificate list subjects and level of attainment?
  20. Hi Just been looking at the site and it doesn't appear that you can transfer, although you best check for yourself.[h=2]Who can get a Junior ISA[/h]Your child can have a Junior ISA if they: are under 18 live in the UK You can’t open a Junior ISA if you already have a Child Trust Fund. There is no mention of transferring from CTF to ISA
  21. Many thanks for bringing the subject up. My daughter has a child trust fund too. I'm still in the U.K and hadn't even heard of the ISA option. Hope someone in the know answers soon. Other than that I was just going to keep it the same and put it to her grandparent address.
  22. Hi, no sorry I've never heard of such a thing but was wondering if you know if the schools in Queensland are favouring Spanish now. All the schools we looked at seem to study Japanese, with one exception that Studied German. My daughter Studied Spanish at Primary and is now also doing it at high school, in the UK: she is quite good at it, seems a shame she'll have to drop it in Oz. In the UK it does vary from school to school, with French and German as other common options. I don't know about Private schools.
  23. I've only listed them under children and have ticked no for migrating with me. Then at the end in the notes put not migrating with me for the purposes of this form however will be traveling together, as Aussie citizens entering on Aussie passports. Hopefully that will cover it. Many thanks to you all for your help.
  24. Thanks Cez and Bound4Tassie for the fast response, feel relied all ready. Yes I worked out I need the children Aussie first more practical regards school etc. at other end as well. The form is horrid it is so confusing. Good luck with your app too.
  25. Hoping for advise, my husband is Australian by birth and has an Aussie passport. There doesn't seem to be a problem getting citizenship by descent for the children, he is listed as Australian on their birth certificates. Therefore the three of them could I believe go to Aussie without any problems. I however am English and have to apply for a Partner visa. Looking at the form it appears that all four of us have to pass the medical. That's the problem my son has a rare chromosome disorder(Potocki lupski syndrome), Autism and severe learning difficulties basically he'll never be independent. Given that the 3 of them could just hope on a plane without me. Do they still need to Take/pass the medical, for me to go? if no-one knows do you know who I can ask before I fork out the £2,600(Yikes!).
