  1. You can plan ahead to a certain extent, We moved out our house and into my inlaws and rented our house out so we could save some cash, we got the shipping company round to pack up our stuff and hold it in storage until we say ship. Only other thing we didn't do was book flights. But we can do that now. So in my opinion you can get the ball moving and be ready as soon as it comes through. Unless you have concerns about ur application eg convicted criminal who spent time in jail etc then I wouldn't do a thing until the visa arrived.
  2. Any day now for you I'm sure!! Are you ready to leave for Oz as soon as you get it?
  3. Yeay Just got my Visa Grant email through........ PR SubClass 100 [emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38] Could not be happier! 8months and 7days.
  4. I see, thanks. I just went back and re-read all the emails just incase I had missing something but that email was back in May. My last proper contact with KC other than sending a new copy of my updated passport.
  5. What does it mean when your "file has been passed to the senior migration officer"?
  6. Months for processing are on the immi.gov.au website but thats just a guideline, Eg Australia House, London is 8 - 9 months but somewhere else like timbuktoo will be 5 - 7 months due to low volumes of visa applications. Its unfortunate as I'm into my 8th month come Wednesday.
  7. Do you have to hand yout UK licence over when you live in Oz, eg exchange a uk licence for an Oz licence? Do you get to keep the UK version?
  8. Totally not sure with that 1, depending on your age you may need to undertake the IELTS exam and get a average score. I think the minimum points you need for the visa is 60? I would join PerthPoms forum as there is a few plumbers on there who are doing the same thing as you, I'm a gas engineer in the uk but I'm going to Perth on a spouse visa so I didn't need to do any of the assessments.
  9. I cant help with the points system etc, But you will NOT have an Australian qualification. You will definitely have to do a "gap training course" when you land in Oz different states have different rules and you should contact the local TAFE (government college) and ask about courses. Vetasses basically verify that you are a plumber and have the relevant experience to undertake the relevant training offered in Australia without undertaking a full apprenticeship again.
  10. Did your CO not ask him to be part of the medical? I would suggest to get a WHV that way he can decide if its for him or not, Has your visa's been granted?
  11. You could maybe speak to your Oz bank and ask about buying abroad? I think 1 of the key points is that the rental income can cover the mortgage payments, if it doesn't you'd most probably have a hefty deposit to put down before bring accepted? And of course exchanging $ to £ isnt great.
  12. Well good luck with it anyway, Just bear in mind what other people have said though. If your visa gets cancelled at the airport you'll be banned from Australia for 3 years.
  13. I'm not sure any drug crime is considered as minor, It maybe minor in Holland but different in another country. its best you ask a migration agent, or just cancel the visa and wait a while then re-apply.
  14. What choice has he really got in all honesty? Telling immi is the right thing to do no question, but he has a slim to none chance of getting the visa approved when he does, for 3 reasons, 1 for lying about it in the 1st place, 2 for being a drug related crime, 3 how recent the offence was as he will be unable to justify that he's changed his ways. If it was me, I'd cancel the WHV and wait a couple of years and re-apply that way you can justify what happened and how you have learned by the mistakes you made and of course save urself from being banned for 3years to travel to Australia
  15. You've already lied on the visa application so I'd just chance it when you land and if questioned just say you didnt think a fine was a conviction? And just come clean. Although I'm not sure drug offences go down well in any country let alone Australia. If it was assault or something then I'd be more confident for you and given the fact its pretty recent you may have a difficult time if you do get stopped.
  16. You might be ok, if you are a straight forward case then maybe you could have your visa within 7months, as it seems a few people lately have managed to get them just over 7months. But like its been said you might only have weeks or days to validate you're visa.
  17. My Visa was lodged on the 7/11/13 Case officer emailed 10/12/13. Medicals 6/4/14 My case officer is KC. Been waiting patiently ever since ha ha
  18. You can't negotiate visa approval time, it'll be between the given time scales from your initial letter/email confirmation unfortunately, at present Australia House london are between 8-9months, You dont get a choice between which visa u apply for its a 2 part visa, your case officer will decide whether you qualify for the 100 element, When you have a CO assigned you can ask their opinion if you qualify for the 100 rather than the 309.
  19. I can't give you an up to date answer regarding adelaide, But your hubby should be able to get a job fairly easily if he has the relevant Oz qualifications to obtain his licences for Perth/WA, Perth is my opinion is wonderful, and a very young city, its going to keep growing and people who have been there for the last 10years have capitalised on the growth, but there is at least another 30years of growth, long term you'll retire happy, Short term you may lose out, its expensive but relevant when working. Adelaide as far as I'm led to believe is somewhere to go if you are coming across with money as your money goes further especially house prices etc.
  20. Lucia, You dont mention it but im sure you have thought about it? What about your kids future, would it really be better in the uk? Schooling etc? I think when both your kids are in school and have a mountain of friends your feelings will change, as you mention other kids and cousins? Having a holiday back in the UK seeing family is all good but that's because they make an effort to come see you guys as its the right thing to do as they haven't met your new arrivals and seen you guys for a long time, I think (my own experience) that family make an extra effort to see people they dont see all the time, but when they can spend time with each other freely they dont do it? I agree grandparents cant be replaced and its hard to compensate for that but in reality you have done so well and came so far to possibly gamble with the "ping pong" in my opinion. Good luck though
  21. Nothing else really, Just general questions of health, also a weight and quick eye test, read a line off a board. Urine sample so drink plenty the night before and morning of as dehydration can show false signs of levela of protein in the urine, A quick listen to the chest and feel of the kidneys. Thats what I got anyway.
