  1. check the ANZCo site for a more detailed description of the occupation, you might be able to adjust you application to ACS to fit? http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Product+Lookup/1220.0~First+Edition,+Revision+1~Chapter~UNIT+GROUP+2611+ICT%20Business%20and%20Systems%20Analysts
  2. if you have money to burn, go to a migration agent or just continue the research yourself, their is plenty of information on here and the government websites http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work cant help with the TRA but the EOI and visa application is simple enough, to do your self.
  3. Hi, we will be moving to the gold coast next year, the state schools have catchment areas, so it might depend on the area you live in. http://www.qgso.qld.gov.au/maps/edmap/ Note: "To enrol in a school that has a School EMP in place, students must meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the school's School EMP document. All Queensland state schools with a School EMP in place are listed in the menu on the left hand side of this page."
  4. Hi Jo, A few things: has your partner revised his Cv for OZ? Have you tried networking on LinkedIn? have you had any responses whatsoever, from companies ( ask for feedback) i'm keen to learn how you get on as i will be going though this process myself next year....if you want someone to cast an eye over his CV, please PM me.....I'm a senior engineer at the place i work now and am forever doing this for internal staff...and i sit in the interview board as the technical bod.
  5. Hi Anna, the website below is very useful, I reckon it helped me pass first time. http://ielts-simon.com/
  6. Wow that's crazy Bobj, compared to the costs now - the fare and visa now is more like 2-3 months wages ( at Least, and not including anything else!)
  7. I hear Ya, I'm pretty good at finding cheap stuff..always have been, and i haven't bought anything here for years ( i knew i moving.)
  8. So far - for a family of 2 Adults and 2 children + 2 dogs Pre-migration £5,510.00 ( IELTS, Medicals, Visa, PCC, Skills assessment) Reccie + visa Validation + flights = £6000 Migration = £6000 ( pet shipping + one way flight ) that's as far as I've got , wont be shipping anything, selling up and starting again!
  9. What are the best companies to use online for shopping in Oz? Clothes , furniture , toys , electronics ...etc i know a few Kmart.com.au ebay.com.au gumtree.com.au goodguys.com.au ikea.com.au
  10. Thanks for the replies, I've had a change of mind...I'm going to leave it until later in the year ( after my reccie visit). I've nothing to gain but everything to lose if i tell them now and it goes wrong.
  11. Yep, i agree...I'm just gonna bite the bullet and inform them...I'm smack bang in the middle of a massive project at the Mo...which is going to run for at least another 6 months.
  12. Leah When did you tell them, and when are you going?
  13. A valid point , although I get on well with my managers , their attitude could change very quickly .
  14. I work in IT for a large government establishment , in a new role which I started end of last year ( worked here for 5 years) . Problem is some of our customers are friends of friends , And it's becoming hard to hide. I would say they definitely depend on my skills , but no one is irreplaceable .
  15. I'd really like to tell them now , instead of worry about letting something slip or them hearing it via someone else .
  16. When should I tell my employer of my migration plans ? 12,6,3 months before ...or just give standard notice ? as the 12 months countdown begins to my Emigration , it becomes harder to hide from my employer .... And I'd like to start networking .
  17. Thanks Kevin, much appreciated...hope the move goes well
  18. I'm moving over next year to the gold coast, and I'm trying to network with fellow IT Managers \ System Admins and Techies from Gold coast or Brisbane areas on LinkedIn - can i ask for fellow professionals currently working around these areas to connect to me..................pleeeeaseeee - I have no connections:sad::cry: au.linkedin.com/in/mmitchellgc

  20. Hi Lee, if your in no rush you can wait for a CO to be assigned then arrange your medicals and PCC. just remember you will require a visit to activate your visa , usually one year from the date your pcc or medical was completed ( which ever was first). no need to certify documents , as long as you upload colour docs. Ps ..i waited 6 weeks for a CO to be assigned.
