  1. Thanks I never stayed in Australia, just for a couple of weeks to activate it. Does that matter?
  2. Hi I successfully was awarded a 189 Skilled visa around 8 years ago which has since lapsed as we were unable to make the move at the time due to family issues. I’ve since been diagnosed with ADHD, do you think this will prevent me from getting a new 189 visa approved as it’s considered an intellectual disability? I’m clearly not a burden to society and have been in continuous and stable employment for the last 18 years and am otherwise fit and healthy. Would it matter if I was medication or un medicated when undertaking the application? I can live without medication but would stop taking it if it showed I was less of a burden to the medical system. Does anyone have experience of getting their visa approved when the main applicant has ADHD? I see lots of spots about children. Thanks a lot!
  3. Hi all, I submitted my 189 Visa application and payment on March 9th and so far I have not heard any further correspondence apart from the initial acknowledgement letter. I submitted the following:- Passport: Certified copy IELTS: Colour scan Skills and Work Experience Assessment: Colour scan Work References: Colour scan P60 Certificates: Colour scan Bank Statements: Colour scan Degree: Colour scan Questions: 1) I have not done the PCC or medical yet, I see others here who applied this year upload everything at once. Is this required or will the case officer contact me after they are assigned for medical and PCC. I don't want the application to stall if they will only assign the case officer once all the info is uploaded) 2) I have only certified my passport, all other items are colour scans. Will the CO ask if they need anything else certified? Thanks in advance, Lee
  4. Both, thanks for replying. Will get my documents uploaded in a few weeks time :-)
  5. Ozmaniac, thanks for the response. The immigration website is confusing, in the document checklist link http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/checklists/189.aspx it states 'All supporting documents must be scanned and uploaded with your application. All documents that you provide must be certified copies of original documents. Do not include original documents unless specifically requested to do so by the department. Documents not in English must be accompanied by accredited English translations.' To me, I read that everything thats uploaded must be certified by a solicitor?
  6. Regarding certified documents all my P60's are original documents. The newer ones are issued on orange paper and the older ones are just plain black and white. As I understand I would have to certify the black and white 'originals' whilst the color 'originals' I can just scan in myself and upload to DIAC (in color of course)... Thanks in advance (hopefully not too many more questions) I'm clear on guidance for required evidence etc. Lee
  7. Thanks again for your response. I think this the process is becoming clearer to me. So first of of all after being invited by skill select I have 60 days to lodge my application, this involves filling in details regarding my employment, passport details etc. I also need to pay for my application. Following that I have 28 days to upload all required documents (excluding medical and police check certificates). Is this right? Lee
  8. Lebourvellec, thanks a lot for your response. So I should upload all my other documents within the 60 day window (Degree, skills assessment, passport, wage slips, contracts etc.) and wait for the CO to be assigned. Does the CO ask for it once everything else is satisfactory or is it requested before reviewing your case? Thanks, Lee
  9. Hi there, I have been invited for the 189 visa and my understanding is I now have 60 days to lodge a application. My initial goal was to get all required supporting documents certified and uploaded at once. One area of concern is regarding a police check from a previous residency in Vietnam. I may not get this back within the required 60 days. Is this required as part of the initial application stage or do people upload this on request from the assigned case officer? Its not particularly clear in the guidance. Thanks, Lee
  10. Hi Dugles, I think I can obtain 15 points with my Bachelors Degree, when I carry out a search for my degree it is show as accredited for CEng (Washington Accord) subject to further learning which I understand this typically means a 1 years Master Course. (see below) As I have not done this I believe it will be assessed as an Engineering Technologist as per flow chart below. Based on my degree as I have completed no formal further learning. Perhaps EA are not as strict as this and they will access me as a Professional Engineer?
  11. Hello all, I have been lurking these forums for a while and finally decided to put the wheels in motion to emigrate to Australia. I am looking to obtain a 189 skilled independent visa and I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help clear up regarding skills Assessment from Engineers Australia. I am educated to BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering & Electronics. My degree is recognized under the Sydney Accord (or Washington Accord but subject to further learning). From the literature I have read on the Engineers Australia website my degree will only allow me be classified as an Engineering Technologist and not an Electrical Engineer unless I carry out a CDR which I currently do not want to complete. I have had quite a varied and somewhat accelerated career as opportunities and business needs have changed, I feel I fit into three potential categories that are on the SOL:- Engineering Manager, Electrical Engineer (CDR Route), Engineering Technologist. My current & past roles are listed below along with duration: Lead Engineer (14 months - Current) Electrical Project Manager (22 months) Planning Engineer (9 months) Project Engineer (7 months) Graduate Trainee Engineer (24 months) I'm looking to get 60 months experience in total so I can get more points, but I will take 36 months too. Based on my degree which is recognized under the Sydney Accord, I could potentially be assessed as an Engineering Technologist or Engineering Manager (doubtful as I need managers reporting to me). If I am assessed in either category do you think all my experience will count? I can't really see anything regarding Electrical Project Managers, Planning or Project Engineers on EA's website. In addition I was on a 2 year IET accredited graduate engineer training scheme, do they count this as relevant experience? Anyone else have a view on this? Thanks, Popee :skeptical:
