  1. Hello! I applied in June and it was approved mid-February. So exactly on the 9-10 month estimate I got (this was in 2013/2014 however). Just got my request for further information for my PR, which is nice. It's a long, dark tunnel you're about to head off into! Good luck
  2. Hello there! In response to the first part of your question regarding work-life balance. I think this is quite a tough one to answer because with lots of things in teaching there are a lot of determining factors, such as: colleagues, leadership team, students, parents and so on. Personally, I've found teaching in Victoria to be a pretty mixed bag. Some experiences I'd equate with my East London comprehensive teaching, i.e pretty tough! And others have been an absolute dream. I now teach at an academically selective school, where the students are outstanding but very demanding and so, a new set of issues arise. Teaching will be teaching in that respect, you do as much work as you allow yourself to do. However in Australia I've found that when I pack up to leave at 4pm, I don't feel guilty. And if I happen to arrive after 8am, my commitment and professionalism aren't called into question (some of my experiences teaching in the UK). My school puts a lot of emphasis on maling sure the staff are happy - which is mightily refreshing. Hope my ramblings help somewhat!
  3. Hello there! Nemesis: My eligibility us up on the 7th June 2015. And I've just this very minute received an email from the DIBP asking for my documentation. Just about to start putting everything together, probably take a week or two then I'll submit everything online Be good to get it done! I'm sure they'll contact you soon, if not I've always found them very useful on the phone.
  4. Yeah, in the same boat too! Seems like I spend a lot of time trying to get more information about what's going on. But end up going crazy with what-ifs, second guessing and reading too much into things. Seems like ignorance really is bliss...
  5. Small talk, with a CO?! How did you manage that?! I couldn't even get a response to whether mine is male or female (I'd never heard of the name before and didn't want to assume) so I could start my emails appropriately!
  6. Hello! New to to the posting but not the browsing Almost makes this whole process a bit more bearable when you know other people are in the same boat! Applied London 7th June 2013 Case officer assigned 20th June (SV) Medicals and Police Checks (Aus & UK) processed late September 2013 Waiting, waiting, waiting! Great to hear people are getting their visas granted who applied around the same time! Maybe there's a glimmer of light at the end of that tunnel after all. Congrats to those who have had theirs granted recently!
