  1. They are, but the media are exacerbating the issue. If you change a password now for a site that hasn't fixed the hole, you'll just be giving someone who 'might' be catching the info, the new one. Until they fix it, pointless changing it. Also, although there is a security hole, getting that info is no mean feat. It's an odds game, and the odds are incredibly low at this point that anyone actually has it or can make sense of it if they do.
  2. Well if i make to the GC too, i'll look you up!
  3. As above, stay safe and I hope it's not a bad one. For goodness sakes, don't run out of gin!
  4. There's no point doing anything until they fix it.
  5. Hello - and congratulations!! How long have you taken to get to this point? How exciting!
  6. When i was 24 i went and lived in Cape Town for a year. I found out very quickly then that a lot of the people I considered friends were really nothing more than acquaintances. Barely any kept in touch or replied when I tried to stay in touch. Yet my best friend moved back to Oz 2 years ago and we're in touch whenever we have time. Be it by facebook, text, facetime. Sure it's not every day but our friendship hasn't changed.
  7. Air freight can be your friend, take a look at something like www.parcel2go.co.uk I use them to ship stuff to my godson all the time. If you go for economy service (10-14 days i think) it's really not very expensive. Far less expensive than excess baggage. I did exactly that when i flew over at christmas, freighted all the gifts over so i didn't have to take those 12KG in my suitcase.

    Dilemma

You have no ties, why not try it and see. Can always move back. Life's too short not to have a new adventure. It won't be a magic cure though it'll be what you choose to make it.
  9. I did it in January at Byron Bay, absolutely loved it.
  10. It was at levels higher than Beijing last night, not any better today. Will only start clearing tomorrow when the wind changes to SW. Currently all of europes pollution is coming up from the SE and mingling with the sand and ours and choking us all. Can exercise inside or in air conditioned gyms, it's fine in there. It's really not nice, itchy red eyes and coughs galore.
  11. surely they'd be insured by the transit company/quarantine place whilst in their care?
  12. It's actually hazing over quite badly here in London. And my car is covered in bloody african sand! It's been nice knowing you all *cough*
  13. I don't think they've done anything wrong, they're dealing with an unprecedented situation and ever changing goalposts. I don't think anyone else could've done anything more.
  14. And laser hair removal is cheaper there too. You can get molton brown and opi etc at the dept. stores.
  15. For nails it's sorted, there are manicure and pedicure places in every shopping centre. I think I paid about $60 for a gel nails mani and normal pedi when I was there. And while I remember, there are a few shops in the centres selling hair products, so you can get your kerastase shampoo etc. oddly you can't buy the Aussie brand shampoo in Australia. Very weird
  16. Londons bubble won't burst, it hasn't in the 15 years i've been here. The doomsayers roll it out about once a year but demand well outstrips supply and that ain't changing anytime soon. Fact is people are getting into bidding wars offering over the market price to even get a look in at the moment. The help to buy scheme will see that continuing for a long while yet.
  17. I don't see it as leaving permanently either. I see it as an adventure somewhere new, if it doesn't end up being a happy one i'll cross that bridge if I get to it and make a decision about where to adventure to next. Life's way too short to not try something new, and if that means it doesn't work out and I come back home, at least i'll know i'll have tried and hopefully had some fun and made some memories and new friends along the way. Sure, it might cost some money but everything costs money. As said above in Northshorepoms well reasoned post, everyone makes a decision that suits them at the time, nobody can foresee events in the future or how it will pan out. There are plenty who stay in many countries and plenty who decide it's not for them and go back or somewhere new. None of us know how it will be for ourselves until we get there and settle. And we're all very fortunate that we're in a position where we have these choices.
  18. I'll be renting purely because it's in London and makes financial sense for the future to keep it.
  19. Hi Dan, I'm self employed too, not a trade, but i've had to provide 8 years of accounts (not saying you'll need 8 just that i needed the copies of the accounts) although i don't think you need it at the first part of the process. Good luck!
  20. The carers in my Dads care home left a lot to be desired. They had no skills with working with dementia or leaving him some dignity, and he would be terrified of them every time they came to 'care' for him. Apart from literally only one or two who were lovely the rest wouldn't be working there had I been in charge. Sadly they're run as a business these days and staffing levels are minimal, wages are low all to increase profits and workers overworked. The whole system is wrong and being run the way it is makes care the last thing that's thought of in the managements eyes.
  21. Thanks Arun. That makes sense. So if i read it correctly, we fill out some words about each of those areas of knowledge in section 2, Then the 2 project reports which show how we applied it. I have knowledge of a fair few of the KAK and know bits of some of the others, i assume many people are the same. Won't be including anything i don't know, i'm guessing they realise we won't know it all. I think selling myself is the part I find difficult as it doesn't come naturally to me. Thanks for the 3 points there, very useful to think about as I go through.
  22. i keep procrastinating, opening it, wondering where to start then closing it again. Did anyone else find this as daunting as I am and if so, where did you begin?
  23. For clarity - it's satellite data analysis from Inmarsat, not radar data. And it means the last ping from the plane before it ran out of fuel places it in the middle of the southern indian ocean. Wreckage will sadly be the inevitable next find.
