  1. Mine was approved in a few hours
  2. Some travel insurance companies cover you for working, I know mine does. It's a piece of mind at the end of the day, a small price to pay. Plus you said you are not bothered about personal belongings being covered, but wouldn't it be nice to know if the unfortunate event happens, they are all covered. Even down to luggage, flight delays that will result in you having to wait days and paying to stay somewhere. Each to their own, but I know I'd rather be covered as anything can happen.
  3. I'm in Brisbane now, and have only stayed in one hostel here atm, it's aussiewaybackpackers and i recommend it if you want a chilled out place to stay. If your after a mad party place then it isn't for you, but if not then defo here, reasonable price, clean and tidy and everyone is friendly.
  4. There are sites that cover you monthly, I found plenty when I was looking, can't remember them though tbh as it was months ago. But I would take it out as medicare doesn't cover all your costs. Doctor appointments are about $70 dollars and the Medicare only refunds you about $36. What if you do an activity and seriously hurt yourself, you'll have a nice bill to pay at the hospital and then you can claim that back through your travel insurance.
  5. what is the main wwoofing site to use? As the main one that comes up for Oz, you have to pay to join?
  6. O...M...G.....just did a skydive at Hervey Bay and all I can say is it's an experience of a life time. The dive was breathtaking and the views were just amazing. If anyone is nearby or heading there this month Hervey bay skydiving have got a great deal on this month so it's a no brainier!
  7. I was thinking about there, but there's been no recent reviews and thought it might of been done and dusted now
  8. Why do they have to know how long you are going to be working for them? If I was in your shoes I wouldn't say anything about how long you plan to work there for, most casual jobs have a high turnover of staff so they are used to it. If they ask just lie, a lot of people will tell lies at interviews to sell themselves. It's not like you will be wanting to go back to that place to ask for your job back
  9. We're in surfers paradise atm, also looking for regional work too, willing to travel to wherever, if you find anything give us a shout
  10. The Gold Coast is a lovely place, been here 3 weeks so far and from looking there's a lot of job in the telesales area and food/barista area. So if that interests you or you have experience then you should be ok. I just had an interview this morning and got offered the job in a telesales position but didn't know this company were commission based with a very low base pay. Most jobs in this area are commission based but the base was too low for me to warrant accepting the job when I have no experience and it could takes weeks until I start earning any commission. As said from the other guys I would start either at the bottom or top of the east coast and work your along to take it all in. Whatever you choose you'll love it out here.
  11. Oh really? That sounds good, ill checking out, thanks!
  12. Cheers guys, I assumed you would have to dress smart and make an effort etc, just don't really want to have to go out and spend money on shirts and trousers if I didn't have too, especially just for an interview. Also the fact of having to pack more crap when we move on, as chucking them and re-buying in the next place is another expense.
  13. Hey guys been in Oz for 3 weeks now, currently in surfers paradise Gold Coast. I'm looking at applying for jobs here as I really like it here and want to stay a while. Was wondering what do most backpackers wear to interviews as I (and I'm sure most other backpackers) don't have a suit they have taken with them.
  14. We left sydney the other day to the Gold Coast, otherwise we would of met up. Have fun and get involved with things like staying at a hostel, you'll meet loads of people
