You shouldn't direct your kids towards a career - what they are good at now, may not be where they want to be. At 12/13 my son wasn't interested in some of the subjects he loves now at 16. He still doesn't know what he wants to be, but we will always let him choose the subjects he wants and advise him as necessary. I hated IT at school and tried to avoid it. At 35, I have discovered I am a bit of a whizz with computers and databases!!

I was glad we didn't have to fill it out before they made it 30 years! That's going to be a killer for some people to remember!

I've just seen that the families were informed by text. Surely there's a better way to break the news!?!?

I've been enquiring about this as my son is currently in Year 11 doing GCSEs in the next few months and we are moving out in September. Even though he is 17, the schools we have contacted are happy for him to start in Year 11 there to do his last two years in their Sixth Form equivalent. You may be best off doing the two years so you get a decent score at the end of it. I know that means an extra year of schooling, but it'll be worth it in the long run!! Where are you moving to?

I had mine after I had my son at 18. Not sure why having a baby makes them ok to do them! It should be a lower age. It's ridiculous making it so high.

Hi Now we have the visa we're all systems go to head to Australia. How would we go about getting a rental property? We'll be going out without jobs, which will obviously mean that until we secure employment, we'll have no income coming in. Would we be able to secure one based on our savings if we produce bank statements (will be fairly decent as selling house in UK for a hefty profit)? Holiday lettings are a lot more expensive p/w than renting, so we'd be eager to get into a rental asap. Thanks for any advice anyone can give!!

We did (OH is a teacher too): IELTS (all 9's and 8.5's) AITSL Expression of Interest Apply for Visa Medicals and Police checks (whole family had to do this) Waiting . . . . Still waiting . . . . I would recommend you register with the appropriate state teaching board e.g. QCT after IELTS (we didn't and it takes 12 weeks and is slowing down our job hunt!) I have no idea what you have to do because you are in Egypt, although I know lots on here will be able to help!! Good luck

We had ours on a Tuesday and it a week to upload them (She only works 2 days a week though!) We didn't need extra blood tests as our tattoos were done in the Uk (although OH only has 1 and I have 3, so it's not like we've got lots!). Fingers cross it'll be done at the start of the week for you
