  1. As others have said - such a great thread! keep the stories coming!! they are great to read, especially for people like myself who have dreams of relocating although has not yet taken the plunge! Thanks to everyone who has shared their story x
  2. Thanks for your reply. I will explore however I had come to the conclusion that I would apply for permanent visa!! How are you finding Australia? Which area of social work does your partner practice? are they enjoying it? QUOTE=cuddy1;1936480994]hi, we got state sponsorship from queensland in nov 2013 based on partners SW qualification. You need to check each OZ states shortage lists for your occupation. If its on there and you meet rest of criteria stated on the list it should be positive. Queensland were asking for three years post qual experience as their criteria at the time whereas other states wanted five years. we got a permanent visa with the only restriction that we stay in queensland for min 2 years. hope this helps
  3. Thanks again Rupert!! I feel totally lost at the minute! There's so much information on the internet.
  4. Apologises if this has been asked many times before....I have spent several hours searching through the forum! I have read the pack in relation to applying for a visa etc and have previously asked about timescales for visas and sponsorship in relation to my job role as a social worker. Me and my husband are wishing to relocate to Australia via me applying for a Skilled Visa in relation to Social Worker. The earliest we would want to move is not until September 2015. I have several questions: I am really confused about the Skills Assessment (Social Work) and IELTS - Which do I do first? I have found the governing body for Social Work for the Skills Assessment however have not been able to find any substantial information with regards to the assessment? - I understand the criteria in terms of qualification and experience. My husband's occupation is not a skilled profession therefore I wished to add him to my visa, should he also do the IELTS? I am thinking that he will need to do this however want to double check! I have read on the forum that Police and Medical checks need to be completed....where do we get the forms from in relation to these? Thanks
  5. Thanks for your reply. Yes skilled migration is what I am currently looking into however trying to explore all possibilities and what would work out being the best for me. At the moment it appears to be the only way forward. Thanks again.
