Hi Petkula73. We are in the process of preparing our house for rental. Thank you for the info. We have been toying with the idea of selling but want to rent the house out for a couple of years.

Oh my goodness, those poor people. Tell them to stay strong. Pursue the agent through the courts, sue them, what ever it takes. x

It's been quite cathartic, clearing out old stuff. OH is enjoying it a little too much. He says I am a magpie....he's totally right, of course! Hope your sofas are there soon, from their cruise across the world. Strange to think, the journey they take:wink: x

We've just booked Crown and using a separate insurance company. The packers come on 13/14th October. I am still doing the yes/no to my own stuff....can't wait till it's all done. We are carbooting stuff and trying to shift some on FB selling pages locally. Next step is Ebay for the bigger stuff, once I have finished sorting.......kids room next...eek! Wishing I had started the clear out much much earlier.:eek:.x

I am currently getting quotes from the shipping companies but their rates are very high..eg 3.7 % highest so far! I read here somewhere that it is more advisable to get separate insurance from your shipping company. The shipping company are pushing theirs quite hard, saying it covers everything, no quibbles etc etc. But we are finding a grand a big hard to stomach on insurance. Anyone out the other side with experiences, good or bad?? Cheers.x

We were hoping (no such chance) we could just go, as our families live in Ireland. But we are under pressure to fly back for a weekend to say our good byes. I am dreading it, to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I dearly love my family but the idea of all that emotion makes me want to run a mile. Between us we have a rather large family! It's going to be a hard one, to be sure. Our friends, here, in the UK, want to throw a party. I like the idea of a BBQ in the garden. Invite all, and keep it fun! We all understand, Kellie. Stay strong, hun. You'll get through it.x:hug:

My brother in law brings his bike every time he goes home. (Avid MTBiker, does a few races whilst he's there) He bought a bike box and books it in with his luggage.

We're planning on a 20' container and shoving as much in as possible as the mo. Had some quotes and even with leaving out alot of stuff, we are over the quota by the equivalent of a 'sofa and a half'! I plan to ebay/gumtree/Facebook selling page, as much stuff as possible. My kids are adamant they are taking everything from their room....2 boys (eldest nearly 12) worth of stuff. They have enough cars to fill an NCP carpark!! ......I am secretly sorting it out for them. As your little one is so young, only take essentials, favourite special toys/books etc. Bedding and towels...duly noted:-) My two could do with new quilts and covers.

We're flying out on the 4th November to Singapore (providing all goes to plan), 2 day stop over, then onwards to Adelaide. It weren't cheap by any means....... Time of year etc etc.....

@crazyegg - did you have to fill in the consent to lease form? What did you say in the reason why you where renting out your property? If you don't mind me asking:-) Thanks.

Renting out our house, mortgage lenders says yes go ahead but we need to fill out the 'consent to lease' for the mortgage lender. What do you say in the 'reason why' box. What's the norm? How do we word it? What to keep it all above board and legal etc. Cheers.
