  1. Expensive mistake.. You will need to check to see if you are still eligible. Requirements have changed since then and you might find that you are no longer eligible.
  2. Hi Ballac No, there is no need to get it certified. All the best!
  3. I have recently updated my passport. I just sent the form 929 along with a colour copy of the new passport to the Australian high commission in London. About a week later, I got an email from them advising that my details has been updated.
  4. @Jasepom I too have been reading this thread and have been observing that you are going round and round with your comments and are ignoring very sound advice that people on here are trying to give you. First of all, you need to stop being so stubborn, take your head out of your a*se and LISTEN to these people who are going out of their way to try and help you. I understand that you have had a tough time and are grieving for the mistake (in your eyes) that has happened. But mistakes are our teachers, we learn from them and this is what makes us better and stronger individuals! It's OK to grieve but from this thread I can see that you have been for some time and it seems that you haven't put any steps in place to help you through this period ie seeking professional help as mentioned by everyone else. I know you have your problems, but doesn't everyone else???? Its how you deal with them that matters! I battled cancer twice and when it came back the second time my wife and I had to go back to the UK and put our life in Aus on hold until I got better. It broke our hearts having to give up our life in Australia but we didnt dwell on it, we had bigger, more important issues back then and knew that Australia would still be there when i recovered. And I'm now only 27!! Life does throw curve balls and sitting dwelling on the past (called the past for a reason!) Stops you from concentrating on the present and the future... I can tell that you are still in denial and this is something that you need to shift. I echo what everyone else is saying. You need professional help for your mental health. And if you think that seeking this help is a sign of weakness then you're wrong, it's actually a sign of strength as you are one step closer to getting your life back on to track. Life is short! You don't want to look back on your life when you are old and grey and think how much time and opportunities were wasted.... People can only help you if you are willing to help yourself! Good luck!
  5. Couldn't tell you anything about the NT but my dad suffers from bad asthma and always has to use his inhalers over here in the UK. But when he came out to visit us in Perth for 7 month's he didn't have to use his inhaler once. Of course as soon as he stepped off the plane back in the UK, he was back on to them.. If you end up in NT and the asthma is still an issue, you could always try a different state such as Perth after you complete your two years obligation.
  6. Feel sorry for you guys. We too hired them in late 2012. We found their service very slow and sloppy and communication pretty terrible. At Times they gave me incorrect info. When I heard about them going into "liquidation" I contacted them and demanded my TRN and file number as proof that the visa had been lodged. I also requested my log in details for accessing the online application. Luckily for us, the visa had been lodged. I ended up sacking them and taking ownership of our application from there on in. That's the best thing I ever did. Like most people who use agents. We hired them to help remove stress, not to create it. From what I know, the employees are still the same and they are running it from the same address... They just simply renamed the company so find it hard to understand how they could possibly not know anything regarding you're application.
  7. Unfortunately seeing you have only been payed for 9 months work and not the required 12, you can not claim the 5 points. My advice is to work and be payed for another 3 months. Do not even contemplate lodging an EOI claiming the 5 points as the situation currently stands, as the co could easily request for payslips and bank statements to prove your claim. If you lodge an application and are found to have over claimed on points, by law the co must refuse the visa resulting in you losing the application fees. For mine, I submitted several payslips and bank statements to prove my one year Aussie experience. Personally I can't comprehend what sort of company would make an employee work three months unpaid....
  8. Hi Kirsty My wife and I are also from Ireland and we are emigrating to Australia later on this year. Regarding how much money to bring. Well if you go for the working holiday visa as Rupert suggested you will need to show that you can financially support yourself during your visit (immigration can do random spot checks upon arrival) the minimum required is $5000 each. But of course the amount will vary depending on how much travelling you wish to do.
  9. I know mate. In my eyes a lot of things that immigration says doesnt make sense. There is all this talk about Australia needing people with skills but yet at the same time, put loads of hurdles in the way making the visa process very complex and difficult at times.
  10. Hi Londongal Well those occupations are currently on the list which is great but some occupations have been highlighted that could potentially come off the sol at some stage. IF and when they will come off is anyone's guess though. No occupation is guaranteed to stay on the list unfortunately
  11. Yeah it is really unclear! I think that they won't be increasing those 6 occupations (unfortunately) seeing that they have received so many EOI's for those particular codes and have put the invite points up so high too! Hope I am wrong though. The main thing is at least you have the 75 points. I guess a lot of people won't be able to receive an invite because of this... So for you, it just looks like a waiting game (but I know from experience how much of a bummer that is!) Good luck!
  12. I don't think it means that for the 6 occupations that they are receiving a high volume of EOI's, ANZCO 2339 other engineering professionals being one of them.. I checked on the skillselect website and the occupation ceiling still remains the same. I applied under the same code as you- 2339. From the last round I see the cut off was 75 points. Glad I applied when I did cause only 60 points was enough for an invite. Fingers crossed you get an invite really soon!
  13. Seeing your occupation is on the csol you will need a sponsorship. Whatever state sponsors you, its only a 2 year commitment to that particular state. This is of course a moral obligation and not a legal one. Although if it was me, I would commit to the state that sponsored me, considering they were the ones who offered the sponsorship and helped you get a 190 permanent residency visa
  14. Yeah definitely get it filled up just in case. I recently had my 189 visa granted and I was asked for it. It is part of the character assessment and it seems to be asked for very regularly.
  15. I'm so very happy for you shreya!! At long last!!!! Many, many congratulations!!
  16. Thanks for your input but to answer your question... Of course my wife wouldn't come off the road for 3 months for the sake of 20 quid!! She hasn't been driving for months as she has no need to.... So using a little bit of common sense I thought there wouldn't be much point renewing her old UK licence IF Victoria would accept her expired license... But seein there may be an issue we will get it renewed.
  17. Hey Guys I have also got a question regarding licenses. My wife and I are moving to Melbourne in 3 months time and her UK license has recently expired. Will she need to renew her UK license before we arrive Melbourne? Cause I didn't see the point wasting money renewing the UK one, only to fork out more money in Australia to convert it to a Victorian one. Please advise Cheers
  18. Thanks mate! Really thought it wasn't going to happen! Just shows ya, what would have been the outcome if I hadn't of been in contact with the chief medical officer??? Just shows you its worth going to the people in high places!
  19. Hey guys I haven't been on this thread for some time so thought I would update! I was a June applicant who was very close to having my visa refused based on the opinion of the MOC that my health costs would be significant. Well I got in touch with the boss and got the initial decision overturned!! Well today I got my visa GRANTED!!!! Can't believe it!! Good luck to you guys who are still waiting! It will come, trust me
  20. Congrats FP215! at long last you got it!! I wish you all the best with your new life down under.! I do hope that my visa will still be granted, I really cant see how it couldn't be considering the medical threshold is $35,000!!
  21. Hello Guys I haven't been on this forum for a week now, was keeping a low profile. Got some bad news last week.... Co sent an invitation to comment as the MOC thinks that my condition (now resolved) would be a significant cost... So im in the process of getting a medical report from my specialist as evidence that my cost would not be significant. The MOC said given the condition I had, it would be likely to require pharmaceuticals and health services but the report is incorrect, hence why im waiting for my specialist report to confirm this! Gutted and the added stress makes it worse but Im trying to remain positive..
  22. Geez don't say that... I'm expecting fantastic things for us june buddies this week! Don't fancy going through an other w/end of waiting...
  23. The case officer has one of two options- To give you one year to make first entry into aus from when you did your police checks and medicals (which ever was earier ) Or to give you one year from the visa grant date So its up to your case officer to decide. My police checks are up on Feb so I hope I'm given the year to give me more time
  24. I use moneycorp to transfer money on a regular basis to Australia. They don't charge me a cent for transfer fees too
  25. I really do honestly think that in some cases, the only reason for grant delays is due to a backlog. Realistically, this can be the only thing holding mine back seeing co confirmed she was only waiting for med clearance which has since cleared. Also if I was you I wouldn't phone them again, wouldn't want to upset them plus they wouldn't tell you anything different. Our visas will be here really soon
