  1. It's the funds that you will have when you land in oz. Immigration officers can do random spot checks in the airport to make sure you have sufficient funds
  2. As long as your points are correct and can provide evidence to support each of your claims, skills assessment, IELTS etc I can't see there being any problems. However immigration being immigration don't always appear to take the most logical approach. If you do go ahead and lodge it, it wouldn't do any harm to upload form 1023- notification of incorrect answer(s)
  3. Well that's good! For the 190 skilled sponsored visa your occupation needs to be on the csol(in which you say it is). Next step is to look into it and see if you are eligible for this visa. I.e . Google the anzsco code to see what the minimum occupation requirements are, to ensure you can obtain a positive skills assessment, checking you have enough points, seeing what states are currently sponsoring etc. If you determine that you are eligible then I would certainly apply for this over a 457 any day. With the 190 visa, it is a permanent one and you won't have those risks and uncertainties unlike a 457.
  4. Well then I assume you have checked to make sure it's on the csol if a potential employer is willing to sponsor? Have you made sure that you aren't eligible for a 190 state sponsored skilled visa?
  5. I was in the same position at one stage. I declined it because of the potential risks involved. Decided to apply for a skilled visa to eliminate those risks coming out on a whv in the hope of securing a 457.
  6. To be honest I would hold back on the medicals and wait till they are requested by the co, or at the very least when you have a co allocated. I agree with Rupert, no one on here can tell you if your OH will have problems with his medical because of his injury. But my way of thinking is do you really want to take the big risk? Better off waiting and hopefully your OH will be better by the time you do them. It's a no brainer. Anyway, having meds front loaded wont speed the process up that much, I assure you!
  7. To be honest I wish I had of know about go maltida before we started our visa application... We hired a MARA agent and thought we would be in good hands. The company turned out a complete disaster (your worst nightmare) , bad communication, sloppy service, giving me incorrect info many times etc and ended up going into "voluntary liquidation." Had to do most of the work myself and they caused me many months of stress and worry. If I could turn back time I would have picked go Matilda even if it ment paying a bit more. At least you know you're in good hands and that the company won't vanish overnight (unlike the one I used)
  8. I believe they only ask for the second payment if the visa is going to be granted. I can't see why you will have to wait till July for the grant. My guess is you will have it soon.
  9. Well in my opinion if skill select allows you to check both boxes then there is a reason why it allows this. Even if Vic saw that you selected the 189 I can't see how this could be detrimental to the 190 state sponsorship. If anything they would prob assume the 189 is your back up plan in case you don't receive sponsorship from the state. I have heard of other people selecting more than one visa option in their EOI. Really can't see there being any problem. Regarding the IELTS yes it is expensive but it may still be required if you don't receive sponsorship. Each test centre varies, mine was very professional. Are there no other test centres near you?
  10. In that case I think you should be fine considering on the immi website it says- Points are awarded on the basis of the factors listed in the following table. All factors are assessed as they are at the time you are invited to apply for this visa. So seeing you are 44 at the min and have already received an invite your claims will be assessed against the time you were invited. Also, if you were to lodge your app soon chances are you will have your visa before oct. So I wouldn't be worried.
  11. Lol, you can stop worrying as from now. Unless your visa is going to take 5 years to obtain (which it won't lol) you have nothing to worry about. The cut off age is 50 although it used to be 45. Check the link below http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/189.aspx All being well, your visa will be granted in a few months.
  12. Congrats on getting invited. You are one step closer but of course you still have a long way to go.... As Emilio had already said, you need to lodge your app and upload all supporting documents, pay the fee, arrange police checks and the medicals. And of course the long wait to get a co. At least you have your invite, that's one less hurdle! Good luck!
  13. If you are thinking about going down the 189 route why don't you just resit your IELTS to try and get 8? You said you already achieved a 7 or higher on your last one. So it's very possible to achieve 8 in each section, particularly if English is your native language which I'm assuming it is. Then you wouldn't have to go through the hassle of having to find a state to sponsor you. There is no reason to wait until the 1st July for this option as it's unlikely that the points will be reduced seeing this occupation has a high volume of potentials applicants. If anything the points could increase... If you do go for the 190 Vic just remember the potential risks- difficult to obtain Vic sponsorship, the time it takes to process sponsorship application12-13 weeks. anything could happen in that time- states could remove it from their list, or updating there requirements making it difficult or even impossible for you to obtain sponsorship.
  14. Shame the password combo didn't work out. Fingers crossed the IT support will be able to get things sorted for you. We nearly missed the deadline for lodging our visa because Hxxxxxxx was unable to access my skillselect account for over two weeks due to an error at the departments side. Hxxxxxxx got in touch with IT support and they could access my application however the technical glitch prevented him from doing so. Fortunately he managed to lodge my app on the day of the actual deadline, close call! Glad he got in touch with you. Must say I liked him and thought he was a genuine guy, I just know he was under the pump seeing Exxxxxxx left and he was left to pick up the pieces. No wonder he has since left ASA, poor bugger. I think it's about time the MARA regulations are updated to allow for actual migration companies and their potential spin off companies to be struck off the list rather than the individual RMA. Hope the problem is soon sorted. Keep us posted
  15. I had both of them agents too. Exxxxxxx did my skills assessment but when he lost his Mara registration Hxxxxxxx took over my case so definitely worth trying that password combination in my post above! Fingers crossed you get it resolved!!
  16. You are right, it is shocking behaviour! I have heard of several going to their office and demanding their file back, and getting it. Glad you know the username, you're half way there. For the password this might be worth a go. My password was the first 3 letters of my surname in capitals , immediately followed by the first 2 letters of my first name in lower caps. Then full stop followed by 123 For instance Joe Blogs would be BLOjo.123 Awful that you, Rupert and many others I'm sure have lost a lot of money. We were lucky in that aspect.
  17. Maybe the username for accessing skillselect is your EOI number?
  18. Feel sorry for you. We used them too when they were ASA and they had JUST lodged our application when they went into "liquidation." Unaware at the time of what had happened I tried to ring then but their phone was dead. Got suspicious and a quick Google check and found out they had gone into liquidation. I was lucky to find my agents mobile number and rang him. He confirmed what had happened but promised he would still be looking after my case until a decision was made on my application. I requested my log in details which he gave me straight away as I wanted proof that it had been lodged. I then changed my online password and sacked them. Best thing I ever did... Think I may be able to help you with your password. Who was your agent? Just so you know. It's the same staff working there as when it was ASA... And they still operate from the same address.... Terrible company, full of lies and deceit.
  19. More often than not, the form 80 is requested by the co. My advise is to get it filled up at least and have it ready to avoid a potential delay further down the track. It's a long tedious form which requests a lot of information which you will unlikely have to hand
  20. Even though you are on the "disposal" 457 visa you still have basic rights as Maggie May correctly pointed out in a post... I would be inclined to contact fair work Australia again. Your company had breached one of the visa conditions automatically by paying below the minimum wage so really can't understand why immigration are not taking this up further. Being on a 457 myself at one time ( what a headache!) I remember immigration stipulated in the visa notice certain legal obligations an employer has which are specifically designed for safe guarding an applicant.. One of them is the company paying for your flights home if they make you redundant etc Not sure but might be worth contacting a MARA registered agent for advice.
  21. Hi OzBoy In answer to your questions 1. Yes you have the option of going back to continue an application 2. Scanned documents to prove your claims in your EOI, eg passport, birth cert, IELTS (if applicable), skills assessment, qualifications, work reference/s, payslips, marriage cert (if applicable) Etc 3. You do not need to do them now to make a valid application. But you may wish to do them once you lodge your application and front load them for the co to save time. Bare in mind that the police cert and medicals are valid for one year from the date you do them. Which means you will have to be in the country before they expire (which ever one expires first) 4. Yes. When you are finished and ready to submit your application 5. Yes. And your application will be allocated to a co in due time. Try to ensure that you have all required docs uploaded prior to co allocation. The co will get in touch with you if they require some other docs or further clarification.
  22. Hi ash, No worries. If you have nil conditions on your visa just like us, then your hubby can definitely go out first. Saw on another thread there a highly regarded registered migration agent confirming this. My wife and I are moving out this Oct! We are going to stay with friends in Beechboro until we find ourselves jobs and a rental. We have lived previously in Perth for 2 years 2010-2012 and lived in Inglewood and double view. Would love to live in Joondalup if we can find relevant jobs around there. Feeling excited and nervous at the same time! At least this time we won't have to run around looking for household items as we have most of our stuff in a 20ft storage container! What part of Perth are your family situated?
  23. Be careful! It's my understanding that if you have been granted your permanent residency visa then applying for and being granted another visa will mean that your PR visa will cease!!! It says it in the grant letter! As far as I'm aware, your husband can enter Australia before you even though you are the main applicant. As long as you all enter before the deadline stated in your visa then you will have no problems. Double check on this but I'm pretty confident that I'm right.
