  1. Hi ozdreamgirl! I'm currently on holidays in Canada and didn't have internet connection for a while. But yes, we are still looking for people depending on your CV. Could you send me a private message with a link to your LinkedIn profile? Thanks! Nick
  2. Sorry, didn't know this. I'll start a new thread there then. Could you close (and remove) this thread?
  3. Haha, thanks for that...don't know what happened to you in the past but I'm just trying to help people out. But just to be clear here then, I'm working for Elabor8, which is based in both Melbourne and Sydney and is really looking for new people. They encourage their employees to help find suitable candidates. I do understand that there are bad things happening on the internet, but sometimes people are just being nice and helping out both potential candidates and the company they work for. I thought this forum is a great place for that. Sorry that even an attempt like that immediately gets a reaction like this without first just sending me a PM Hope you do enjoy your day though!
  4. Hey everyone, Right now I've been living and working in Melbourne as a Business Analyst for a bit over a year. And I have to say, it's been a fantastic year! At the moment our company (and a different company I also work for) is looking for IT talent. They even provide sponsorship! So if you got experience in one of the following roles, send me an email: - Business Analyst - Systems Analyst - DevOps - Software Development - Scrum Master/Delivery Lead Message me.
  5. I just mailed my complaint to Singapore Airlines saying that I contacted the UK office and the Netherlands office and that they say different things. But I think that complaint is sent to the Netherlands office. If that doesn't help I'll send some emails to both the UK office and the head office in Singapore. Would be a lot easier if someone on this forum has an email stating the are allowed to carry extra baggage flying from Amsterdam. And if not from Amsterdam, perhaps from Germany, Belgium or otherwise the UK. Still think it's strange that someone from country X gets the allowance and someone from country Y doesn't.
  6. Since I read on the forum that a lot of people can get extra luggage if they have a unvalidated permanent visa for Australia, I was hoping to also get this. So I both mailed and called the Singapore Airlines office in Amsterdam. Unfortunately I got the same employee both by phone and email. They denied my request and were pretty rude. Then I called the UK office. They said that they do give 10KG extra, but since I fly from Amsterdam I have to call the Amsterdam office. Now Singapore Airlines calculates 60 dollar per KG, so I don't want to take this risk. Is there anyone who did get extra kilo's when flying from Amsterdam to Australia with Singapore Airlines?
  7. So just to be sure. From the day a CO is assigned you got 28 days to get your medicals and police certificate? So if I apply today for my visa I have around 1 month + 28 days, depending on how long it takes for a CO to be assigned?
  8. My occupation is either Business Analyst or Systems Analyst. So I work in the IT... Before moving to Australia I'll also try to get some job interviews planned, but since I'm not dependent on a specific city, I should be able to find a job somewhere in the country. P.s. congrats with your visa! What does your husband do?
  9. Thanks for your reply. However perhaps it sounds as if you want to come to Australia not to work...the way I mean it is that you can't find a job. Ok, so citizenship has different rules than RRV. Didn't know that, so thank you for clearing that up. From the official site it says the following: Subclass 155 Resident Return visa You might be able to be granted this visa if you: have spent a period totalling two years in the last five years in Australia as either an Australian permanent resident or citizen (the 'residence requirement'). have not spent two of the last five years in Australia as a permanent resident or citizen, but can satisfy the processing officer that you have substantial business, cultural, employment or personal ties of benefit to Australia So I guess 2 years would be enough, but less than 2 years is also possible if you have substantial ties. Best option for me would just to stay atleast 2 years in Australia. For point 6, the 90 days I read somewhere, is not an official rule so I'll forget about that one.
  10. Yesterday I finally received my 189 visa invitation to apply, so I'm really really happy! I immediately started reading on all rules, regulations and processing dates. This is what I found: After receiving the visa invitation you should apply for a visa within 60 days After applying for a visa it takes around 2 to 3 months before receiving a result If a visa is granted, you should enter Australia at most 1 year after either Medical or Police Certificate date or after visa grant date, whichever date comes first A 189 visa is valid for 5 years You should live (and not work?) at least 2 out of 5 years in Australia. If this is the case, you can apply for a Resident Return visa or Citizenship Leaving Australia for more than 90 days means this period won't count as living in Australia Of course the exact dates and details will be in the visa grant letter. What I'd like to know is if the above is still correct, since some things have changed as of the 1st of July 2014. And how are those minimum of 2 years checked, just by customs who note when you leave/enter the country? And I'm going to bring some saving with me, but what if I can't find a job the first couple of months? Am I eligible for social benefits? If you have any other advice let me know! Only thing I need to do now is get a police certificate and apply for a visa, but this shouldn't be a problem.
  11. Ok, just selected both visa. Now let's hope one of them will succeed. Unfortunately there is only 1 other test center, but it's even further away. Besides I don't really believe in getting an 8 on all parts of the test. So it's either the 189 with 60 points or the Victoria sponsorship. And I keep my hopes up that demand for Systems Analysts is getting higher, so they might even higher the cap for 2014/2015.
  12. Thanks for your responses. However, taking the IELTS test again isn't worth it. It's expensive, far from my home so I should get a hotel and everything and the center I went to last time was very unfriendly. I got a 6.5 for my writing and did a remark at the Cambridge University. Then I got a 7.5...so I don't really trust them anymore. My question still remains, can I lodge both the 189 and 190 EoI? On Skillselect this is possible, but will it really work? And if Victory sees that I'm applying for both visas, isn't there a chance they will turn me down because of that? I couldn't find anyone applying for both the 189 and 190 at the same time. But it does let you check both check mark boxes and will result in the 189 EoI for 60 points and the 190 for 65 points. What do you think?
  13. Thanks so much for your replies. After a lot of thinking and researching on the internet I did however decided to go for the option of State Sponsorship by Victoria. Reasons are: - I've never been to South Australia, so it would be very hard to convince the state that South Australia is the state I want to live in - I don't really see myself living in Adelaide if I talk to friends who have been there. Besides, it seems it's a lot harder to get a job - Business Analysts and Systems Analyst demand is expected to grow 12% in the next year. So I really hope that leads the job staying on the SOL Perhaps I might give the 189 visa a try on the 1st of July. Perhaps I don't need 65+ the first time the new SOL is active. Thanks again...hope to see you in Aussie!
  14. I'm in kind of a difficult situation and hope you can help me out. I would love to migrate to Australia under a 189 visa, so that I can become a permanent resident and build up a life in Australia. I did the IELTS test and scored 7 or higher on all parts. ACS assessed my skills and concluded that I am a Systems Analyst. I already did my health checks. So far so good. My current situation: Age 30 = 30 points IELTS score 7 = 10 points Bachelor Degree qualification = 15 points 3 To 5 years work experience = 5 points Total 60 points. However, as you can see on the following page under the Report tab and then Round Results, since August 2013 you need 65 or 70 points to get an invitation for Systems Analyst, cause of high interest. http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/#tab-4 Now I have the following options: Keep trying on a 189 visa, with the hope that the 1st of July Systems Analyst is still on the SOL and they the reset all limitations and I do get invited with 60 points Go for a State Sponsored 190 visa Now, there are 2 states that are still willing to sponsor a Systems Analyst; Victoria and South Australia. I would prefer Victoria, but their processing time is 12/13 weeks. South Australia only has 3 weeks processing time. With a 190 visa I would get 65 points (are points relevant with a 190 visa?) and the ceiling for Systems Analysts won't count. Now, do you have any advice on what to do? Would you just go for South Australia, so that there still is a chance I get my invitation before the 1st of July? Or would you hope Systems Analyst stay on the SOL and go for the extra 5 points, but via Victoria? Or would you hope that as of 1 July the reset limitations and try to get an invitation with 60 points? And does it matter if I score 60 or 65 points with a 190 visa? There are SkillSelect reports for 189 and 489 visa, but I can't find them for the 190 visas. One last important question. When filling in my Expression of Interest, I can also check both the 189 and 190 visa. How will this effect my State Sponsorship? I can imagine that the state will reject my application if they see I lodged for 2 visas. What do you think?
  15. I got my diploma's and work experience translated and certified. ACS is assessing my qualifications right now. I'm already in step 4 of 5, but it can take up to 12 weeks in total. Hopefully the result will be positive... Then I'm ready to apply for an EOI. Will let you know the outcome of the ACS assessment. So far everything is pretty straight forward. If anyone has any questions on the ACS assessment, just let me know!
