  1. I see no issues with them applying for 12 month visitor visa as long as they explain they are visiting and staying with family and can prove they have the means to fund themselves for the 12 months should they be asked. Overall i don't think you'll have a problem.
  2. You can get a tourist visa anywhere up to 12 months, but they may ask you to provide information for such a long stay and proof of financing.
  3. It's actually pretty easy to do your own visa, the hard part is understanding the process and general queries. That is where this forum may come in handy.
  4. This form will probably help you find the correct details. I'd reccommend emailing and telephoning them. Make an enquiry
  5. 1. Yes there is an agreement i didn't personally bother getting any further cover. 2. Weather is very temperamental, it really depends on where you are travelling too. 3. You need to provide proof of work for most leases, overseas work may not be favorable. Before you can lease you also need to be present to inspect the property by law. Again it depends on the area, tenants are a dime a dozen in Sydney, it will be hard to find a property there whereas other cityies may differ. If you do apply for a rental property it's likely you'll be at the bottom of the list.
  6. Yes travel would contribute but would only contribute as a minority for evidence, you could just be two friends going travelling together. Joint bank statements and utility bills with the same address with is really want you need for solid evidence if you have no lease in your name.
  7. Just letting you know that my gf is also a nurse we opted with asking her company to sponsor her for residency on 186 (Temp Resident transition stream). In doing this you do not require and English test or need your skills assessed or to lodge anexpression of interest.
  8. If you don't have any evidence today is the day you start collecting. Check that you can actually apply onshore, i had to apply offshore and had to fly back to the UK for 2 months, but that was for a 457 dependant visa. It may be different. Documents we used for our visa... Plane Tickets, Travel bookings and receipts. Pictures of us both dated with location usually many on the holidays mentioned. Undated pictures with both of us. Car Insurance with both our names. Cards from families and wedding invitations. Stat Dec form 888 from people who know us both and are residents in Australia. Joint Statement on our relationship (4 Pages). Utility and Internet Bills with both our names. Joint Bank Account Statements (with constant flow of money from both accounts) We recorded our trips on a gopro and uploaded to youtube and further submitted that for evidence. Statements from both Parents confirming the relationship.
  9. It's Truly crazy, I've really skimmed down on the detail as i entered and left Australia about 3 times in the past 3 years and about 6 times 8 years ago when i was out here on a Working holiday visa. They do not even provide enough boxes to enter the information and the fact they want you to document your trips back home aswell! Who knows their siblings place of birth? Or information on your tutors from 15 years ago? Seriously?! Whilst i'm on topic about the 186 visa. There is now a new requirement as of 14th December 2015 to sign the Paying for visa sponsorship form. We had a bit of trouble understanding what selection to choose. Either: a) I declare that I have engaged in conduct in relation to this application that constitutes acontravention of subsection 245AS(1) of the Migration Act 1958. or b) I declare that I have not engaged in conduct in relation to this application thatconstitutes a contravention of subsection 245AS(1) of the Migration Act 1958. Selecting B basically states you have not committed any scams or been forced into paying for your job/sponsorship from what i've been told. I can see a lot of people ticking the box for option A as it's not very well explained. Link to form Link to information about form
  10. Thanks for this Zet i have been filling this evil document in all day and almost in tears with the information the want. It's actually listed as a form that is required on the 186 document checklist! So we have been so confused about whether to do this or not. I've filled in the majority of it as i figure having all this information to hand will probably come in use for the future.

  12. Thanks Milo, doesn't take too much just a lot of reading, watching youtube and some post processing tweaking :-)

  14. Also did it in Dec, was much easier than the UK one.
  15. The only way to exempt yourself from the 12 month requirement (unless you have compelling or compassionate grounds) is register the relationship. This will exempt the 12 month requirement but you will still need decent evidence to prove that you are a de facto couple. Beyond the 6 months do you have evidence of being a couple before hand? I'd suggest that if your partner is unable to stay in the UK to gather 12 months of evidence that maybe you should look into taking a holiday to Australia and registering your relationship. Any other evidence such as joint bank accounts, insurance with both your names, pictures with dates etc will always work in your favour. The receipt for your trip to Australia could also be used as evidence as a holiday together.
  16. This is the information we received from our migration agent. I'm sure this will be of some help to you as it was a great starting point for me.
  17. Like I said that was from my own personal experience, i preferred to have everything at hand as I was in a rush to get back to Australia where my partner is. Better to have to much than too little. It's good hearing that, as we will be applying for a 186 eventually so these documents will come in use again.
  18. Just to put things in perspective for you. This the evidence we used for a temporary resident defacto visa. I honestly don't see immigration turning a blind eye to his 3 year ban unless you can prove financially that you're a de-facto couple not just a couple. He shot himself in the foot the moment he overstayed. Your visa application will come under a huge amount of scrutiny and may effect his character requirements.
  19. I have just literally been granted this very same visa and i did all the leg work and applying myself. It was very straight forward. I was onshore in Australia for all the medicals but I had to lodge offshore due to my bridging visa restrictions. You can apply off your own immi account or he can apply from a newly created one as long as he selects 457 Subsequent Entrant and links it to your own visa's TRN number. First things first if you are in a rush to get this visa granted you are best getting his medicals (HAP ID) and his police checks done. They may not request these items but I preferred having it all there so i wasn't left rushing around to get the documentation. You can apply to get a HAP ID through my health declarations once you have that ID he can then go for medical at the place that is recommended. I chose bupa australia which cost around $300 in Australia im not sure about the UK. Make sure you read into it all! You can apply for a UK police certificate here: ACRO around £80 The cost of the application off-shore was $1035 AUD You will need to pay before you can upload the evidence. It takes a a lot of reading but it is very straight forward. The evidence we used in our application: We found that speaking with my girlfriends workplace migration agents that they were very helpful and gave us the instructions to do it ourselves without any extra cost. They also prepared the Sponsorship Obligations letter for us. I'll be happy to forward you the email if you want. I lodged on the 23rd Jan and was granted on the 16th Feb bare in mind I spent months perfecting the evidence.
  20. 457 Subsequent Entrant as De-facto Partner Lodged 23rd Jan Approved 16th Feb
  21. I am interested in hearing about how i could have done that Raul? Some good news... My visa was granted today. So i'll pass on this information so it can be of some help to others.
  22. Hello all, I'm just wondering on the processing times for a subsequent 457 visa. I've had to leave Australia and apply off shore as my bridging visa whilst waiting on an MRT did not permit me to apply on shore. I have obviously cancelled the MRT and left the country. I have lodged all relevant information, proof of relationship, medicals and police checks from both the UK and Aus but still haven't had any response in over 3 weeks. My girlfriend is currently in Australia and we miss each other very much, the wait is causing some financial inconvenience. Is there any way I can speed up the process? Would it worth writing to immigration and explaining the circumstance or would I be wasting my time? I lodged on the 23rd of Jan and I've not had any response other than it has been lodged. Will they even tell me when a CO has been allocated? Many thanks. Dan.
  23. Thanks for the information i'll discuss it with her and she'll have to discuss this issue with her employer i'm hoping that they will allow us to use their own migration agent. She's a nurse so i'm guessing she will likely meet the requirements i'm not sure where this would put her on the grounds of skills assessment as she clearly has the skills. As for applying for the BVA i have also discussed this with the lawyer and he mentioned that as i would be applying for a dependant visa down the line that they would take into account my girlfriends income and savings and this would likely effect the chance of me getting a BVA approved. It's hard to know what to do, i just can't wait till the day comes when i don't have to worry if i'll be asked to leave the country tomorrow.
  24. Well my intention was not to wait for the MRT it was to delay me having to leaving the country and leaving my gf in a predicament. She won't be eligible for PR until March, i was hoping to get my visa sorted prior to the end of our lease in January so we can sign a another year without any concern of me having to leave. My intention is to leave and nullify the MRT and re-apply for the 457 Dependant/Secondary whilst out the country. The immigration lawyer i discussed it with said it would be able to re-enter the country to await the decision as to what visa i would have re-enter on, I do not know.
  25. Have you tried looking at airbnb? It would probably work out cheaper.
