  1. They have gone up like the rest , no cheap places now . unless you want to live in a less desirable area. Traffic has increased as well meaning 45 min travel now pulls you closer to the city unfortunately.
  2. I have mixed feelings, we went back 3 years ago and was shocked at the state of the town just charity shops and hairdressers. Not being able to travel when we want is having an effect on us as if we ever wanted to catch up we could book a flight and go.
  3. Used to compete of there a fair bit and when we went to get a steak it was always horse meat , we then clicked on and you had to ask for beef steak at twice the price .
  4. Bear Grills is the man hopefully get more veg etc planted this year , but I enjoy modern comforts as I get older.
  5. You are quoting very specialist positions , very highly experienced and qualified and few opportunities actually out there. There are more nurses earning around the $50 per hour for normal hrs than what you are making out, certainly over here in nsw , apply penalty rates and yes you go up to that and well past it but the reality is that most are not on penalty rates .
  6. I know what nurses earn my wife is one, she is in oncology has been a NUM 2 down in sydney now working in private sector doing chemo at homes and as a casual in local hospital doing palliative care big money on a public holiday but nowhere near 70 p/h on a normal day. There are not many nurses earning 70 p/h or the amount of these very high paying jobs very speciality jobs available.
  7. Not many nurses earning $70 plus /h if any ??, they might on penalty rates but not across a normal working week. year 8 plus nurse around 50 p/h depending on actual job title.
  8. Unfortunately with 99% of the project home builders , they use a standard HIA contract and will not alter it to suite individual requirements a take it or leave it approach. hiring a totally independent inspector would be money better spent.
  9. It depends on how you fill in the forms, not a mandatory requirement
  10. That was pre covid , if you did a Internet search you would find cheap flights.
  11. I was speaking about myself, we are all different. I run my own business here so it’s up to me what time I take off I am not restricted. Cost is not a factor to me either if I want to return I would under normal conditions, pre covid a flight could be had for around a $1000 bucks not having to be rolling in it to afford imho.
  12. I doubt you are on your own with those feelings, I think a lot of people were ok pre covid that if that feeling crept in you could quickly sort a trip back or family could come out , The biggest anguish for me is the not knowing when we can travel again and it’s starting to play on my mind. good luck
  13. Don’t think you will be buying much for $550k in sydney I read the other week house prices are rising $1000 per week in sydney.
  14. Yes we got rid of fox about 6 years ago, just increased cost all the time for less. can’t say there is anything I miss
  15. Don’t forget the amazing night sky with no light pollution
  16. In regard to uk qualifications if you are happy to work for somebody you will be ok if they know you are uk qualified Carpenter / joiner if you wish to go out in your own , you will need to get licensed to carry out any work over 5k and with cost of Materials it’s very easy. I did an intensive 9 week course through Master builders ( Friday/ Sunday) over 9 weeks all up with time off work , hotel, travel down to sydney etc 18k to get equivalent to get licensed. hope this helps
  17. I did mine on line in uk before arriving in Australia , was good To go when I got here. Blue dog training
