best bet would be cairns or brisbane, plenty of backpackers starting up in cairns now as down south is colder... Get it up on gumtree now and advertise in the place where you want to sell it, stating you'll be there in a few weeks.. also plenty of FB backpackers groups
-
you sell it with WA rego, the new owner transfers the car to their name online and bob's your uncle, no roadworthy, no other rego. WA is the easiest state to buy or sell a car. That is why a lot of backpackers want a WA registered car, no hassle, not re registering, no roadworthy... They apply online for a name transfer, pay some kind of duty, pay for 6 months rego or so. They need a WA address but they can just give a hostel's address

WA is the best state to have a car registered in, you can do the rego transfer online, easy peasy for the buyer

what is the average visa timeline now days for the 309 visa? the end of last year it was 12months or more, but having a quick look on here it has been reduced? is this correct? and when will they reduce the costs? :biglaugh:

don't worry about work, there is plenty of casual work around for backpackers, so many cafes/coffeshops that will be looking for staff from now until the end of the school holidays. Either go to melbourne or anywhere up to the sunshine coast.. Just have fun and enjoy everything!!!!

Maybe she has actually realised that backpacking through Australia doesn't mean spending half of it on PIO :biglaugh: She be having a blast and to knackered at night to post on here I reckon.

Leaving oz, what to do with car seat at the airport
skippy79 replied to MattandAsh's topic in UK Chat
I'd just leave it in hire car or otherwise if there early enough give it to a family that is just coming through the gates -
So on monday my neighbour turned up at my work ( they have just moved out) with my certificate for my daughter, was really happy as it was 9 days since it was approved and thought something had gone wrong. I have also contacted the australian embassy in brussels and all we have to do is fill out some forms, make an apointment and bobs ur uncle.. Passport should be here a few weeks later. Thanks for the advice and help

Being on a 457 and wanting to live there, anything between 150k and 200k( before tax ) should be fine for the location you have chosen. But it is impossible for one to say whether you'll live comfortable on it, I might, the neighbour might, but who says you will? The 457 is only a temp visa and does not give the right to automatic PR. This seems a risky choice to be moving over on. Isn't there any other way to get the extra points needed?

what kind of work do you do? If there is work around then 20K would be enough, but if there isn't much work around than you could be cutting it fine. Just don't go a buy an expensive car, eat out 5 times a week and spend it quickly. Live like you don't have a job and it'll all come together. Thats one of the mistakes people make, they have some money in the bank and blow it thinking they'll have a job within a month or 2. Check out how long it takes to get your certificates for work, that might take a month or 2, possibly longer.. best of luck
-
Thanks snifter, will wait for the certificate first and then sort it out, somehow I thought that the embassy here didn't do passports anymore, i might just be visa's that they don't do, but still do passports.
-
Ok thanks. We're in belgium. Hopefully get the certificate this week. I'll have a look tomorrow on the computer for the forms for her passport, would we have to go to an embassy to for it? Saw somewhere on the immi site that if in belgium we have to contact madrid. We are also in london next month, do they still do passports?

hoping someone can help me here who already has applied for citizenship by decent Everything has been filled in and paid for online through the immi account, and after a month or so the status changed to finalised. When I view my online lodgement it says citizenship acquired next to applicant, so very happy here, but whats the next step? Do I received something in the post? how can I apply for a passport? thanks

Cairns 12 hours above airlie beach? on a bike maybe, but with a car you can do it in about 7hrs, only about 600-650km, did it years ago, drove down from cairns to go sailing for 3 days... will never forget the police with their speed gun in the middle of no where

my cousin lives there with 2 young ones, 5 and 2, no problems at all and loves it there.. only problem I could think of about living there would be the weather, but I assume you would have researched that and it wouldn't be a problem for you. what have you heard?

I think the WHV would be a bad idea, if he lacks the experience then he should try to look for another job in the UK for a few years, as the WHV would only allow him to work at one place for 6 months. Best of luck [emoji106]?

wales have got a great kicker and I reckon he will take them far in the tournament, but I just can't see anyone beating the kiwi's, although I do hope the ozzies can

If looking for a mortgage broker, my cousin is one on the gold coast, a very good one apparently. as bungo says, look at what you want to repay, no good looking at houses at 1mil with repayments of $6000 a month if you only want to spend say $3000 a month...

Applying for citizenship by decent and payment declined, anyone else??
skippy79 replied to skippy79's topic in Citizenship
got on to the phone to the Spainish embassy and apparently it's down to using a macbook, so I'll have to find someone with a normal PC to get it done.... -
I'm applying for citizenship by decent for my daughter (5yr) and once I filled everything in and uploaded all the docu's I went to pay it and it said it was declined, It wasn't the credit card, as it came up declined within 10secs of pushing the submit button. Has anyone else had similar problems? Is there anyone I can contact? immi? cheers
-
ok cheers for that guys

Now that there is only one quarantine site in Oz and most people settling outside of melbourne/vic, I was wondering if someone else can pick up the dogs to forward ship them? We've found a company that do door to door transport, but can remember reading something somewhere ( spending way too much time looking up things  ) that the importer has to be the one to pick up the dog. Is this correct? thanks

thanks bloody hell 150$ a day, they should be ashamed of themselves...
