    Quarantine costs

Does anyone know where I can get the quarantine prices from? And how easy is it to arrange a domestic flight for the dog? ex - picking the dog up in melbourne, but want to fly with him together to brisbane. Or do I have to go through a pet shipper there? thanks
  2. no I didn't, but maybe he found it in another post from me , daughter is only 5.. but got it now, looks like it'll be the manual queue, hopefully not a long wait at 5am
  3. ok so things have changed then since the last time I was there ( 2000  ) ok then we will just have to see where we enter then.. thanks
  4. Just a quick question, Next year we are traveling to Aus for a reccie ( myself aus citizen, daughter aus citizen and partner belgium citizen ) I know my daughter and myself can enter through the citizen holders queue, but I thought I read somewhere here or elsewhere that my partner can enter in this queue with us, can someone let me know if this is true or does she have to line up by herself in the non citizen queue?? thanks
  5. yeah I love talent shows, particularly liked this one :biglaugh:

    tax WHV

When working full time for one employer for 6 months, what do you fill in for tax, resident or non resident? I think non resident, but someones work is telling them they are a resident and have fill it in incorrectly, and are now paying 30% tax instead of 20%. thanks
  8. I actually live in Belgium, doing a reccie next year with GF and DD, will apply for her defacto visa ( if the reccie goes down well with her, she's never been) in aug/sep 2016, hopefully be moving in 2017
  9. It all really depends on several things. Job prospects don't seem all to good in Perth atm, what would they be like in your and your husband line of work? are there any jobs around? Would you be staying with them until you get yourself settled? Would you have enough funds to live without a job for say 6 months? I'm not too sure about Rockhampton, but not being so high north I assume it would be a great climate to bring up kids ( plenty of outdoorsy kind of stuff/ playgrounds/sport/camping/weekends away. We're looking into Qld for the same reason! Just my 2 cents, but I would take the job in Qld and try and settle in there, maybe even keep an eye open for jobs in WA At least your husband would get some Aussie experience under his belt and when times turn for the better, it might come to use..
  10. We have a 4 hours stop over in Hong Kong on the way back to Europe next July, and am wondering whether to leave it at that, or spend a night or 2 there. We're traveling with a 6yr old back from Cairns. Is there much to do or see? If you recommend a night or 2, maybe a hint for a hotel plz ? thanks
  11. at this very moment I would say job in Rockhampton, assuming there is no job offer in Perth. How close you are to the family? without a job you could be on a flight back within a year and would be further away than QLD. Are you coming to Australia to be closer to family, or are there other reasons?
  12. wow looks great, no sooty for dinner? These are the simple, free things I love about Oz..... I'll expect photo's from your next trip Bobj!!
  13. ok didn't know that, could have just checked the visa website, but knew someone would correct me  you learn something new everyday, thanks quoll
  14. I didn't know you could get a WHV is you had children? I personally would be against this idea, but great to see that you are trying your everything to get there!
  15. until you hit someone, and have to pay for their damages. With rego comes CTP ( compulsary third party insurance ) that only covers injury to third party. I wouldn't bother with full comp, but get at least something that covers material damages. I can't help you who will insure you, but surely someone will be along to give you a heads up
  16. how do you prove your address if your in short term accom?
  17. Why would one feel sorry for their own mess they got themselves into? I have plenty of family over in australia, some are doing ok, others are living the life, new houses, investment properties (paying interest only mortgages) caravans, boats, new cars every few years, massive TV's, plenty of holidays, you name it the either did it or have it. A while ago speaking to my parents I found out that some had massive mortgages, loans on the cars, caravans, boats, credit cards fully maxed from going on holidays etc, yeah they are family, but do I feel sorry for them? no not one bit!! I have one sensible cousin thats been earning well in the last 5-7 years as a self employed plumber and hasn't changed a thing about the way he lives. Yeah he'll have one or 2 holidays a year with his family, but refuses to sell up his little house in western sydney to buy something bigger and flasher, works his nuts off and is doing really well for himself... I bet he'll be the one that survives this mess, and good on him!! For the moment the others are doing fine, but I wouldn't won't them to lose their jobs, as they would be in a right mess. I just hope the $$ falls even more so we can have a good holiday next year and bring some good $$$$ with us in several years if and when we do decide to make the leap..
  18. Wow what a story, glad it all ended well for you DizzyD!! Thanks for updating [emoji106]?
  19. Only use the original go pro products, I got a case full of cheap ones and out if the 10/15 pieces only 1 did a decent job..
  20. that of my partner I figured would be like that, but wasn't sure with my daughter only being 5.. thanks, I'll open an account under my name and apply for her citizenship that way
  21. Hi there, Looking to create an immi account for my daughters( 5yrs old ) citizenship by decent application. Do I create it in my name, or hers? I assume mine, but just want to double check it. Also next year we will be applying for my partners defacto visa, can we use the same immi account, or would she need one in her name? thanks
  22. ok that looks decent, had been looking at telstra and foxtel and the numbers are fairly impressive. For some reason I thought Aus was slower and more expensive than here in belgium. thanks
  23. What are the plans and speeds like in Qld, looking either sunshine coast or airlie beach areas. Here in belgium we pay +/- €100 per month for unlimited internet( download speed is around 5mbps, but my provider says alot more, like they all do!), home phone and digital tv pack with all the whistles and bells including sport (€10 per month) Are there any unlimited packages? I kind of get the idea that australia is well behind europe on internet and speed.. Cheers
  24. I really dislike big cities, give me a a nice coastal town with a community feeling any day of the year... I had the chance to live and work in Barcelona about 10 years back but knocked it back, we preferred visiting it for 3 or 4 days max. Outback has no appeal to me besides a holiday. We'll be looking for a coastal town close to hinterland when we take the plunge. best of both worlds imo.
  25. Have been looking a businesses online for a while now, following daily additions. I'm not sure where you found that €350K is $800K, but can I exchange my money with you now? euro to dollar is about 1.5, so €300K would be $450K We are very outdoorsy people, spend as much time as we can outdoors or on the water. We have a boat here in Belgium and try to be on it as much as possible from april/may until the end of september. Just knowing we can spend nearly the whole year on the water is another bonus for us. My daughter loves it and it's great to see her smile all day long whenever we are on the boat. It's also very hard to keep her indoors here in Belgium, if if raining she'll want to be outside, so I just know she'll be fine there. Our holidays here in Europe consist of either in spain or croatia on the water for 21 days a year, or in the pool at the hotel, a right water rat! Thanks a lot for the imput guys!!, even if they are ones I don't want to hear :biglaugh: I'm thinking about possibilities of work for me outside business ownership as well, so have been looking into that, but it will require retraining for several months ( which I'm fine with that and are even looking into things next year when we visit...
