I think it depends on your CO. Not all CO's ask for it. But I have mine prepared (just in case), cause it's such a long form to fill out providing too much details of your family history!

possibly work with another MARA and appeal the decision - if that's at all possible?

First week of November applicants are just barely receiving their approvals. Give or take around APRIL/MAY we should hear back about an approval.

I got my UK Computer Science degree assessed as well as 5 years work experience (3 in the UK) 2 in the US where I'm at now.

you will need to prove your work experience, by getting letters provided by current and past employers, OR you can use a statutory declaration from a supervisor (and get it CERTIFIED)

I got assessed as sys admin in Sept, processing time was around 4 weeks, now its around 8-12 weeks. If you are applying for NSW SS, its around 12-14 weeks just to get an email acknowledgment from them, and another 8-10 weeks to get approval from receiving your ack email....hope that helps! Right now I am waiting for NSW SS approval. I got my email ack bang on the 12 week mark.

Assuming that I'll find IT work in Sydney CBD, what suburbs should I be looking at renting, I want it to be at least 30 mins commute (whether by driving or taking bus or train?) Once I know of some suburbs to consider, I'll move on to the budgets, but first the suburbs, then the rental budgets.

finally after 12 weeks of submitting my application to NSW on Nov 20, I received my ack email today. Now the real wait begins.

being the age that you are I would look into a Working Holiday Visa. also, take a look at the SOL1 list here: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/_pdf/sol-schedule1.pdf and only consult with a REGISTERED Mara such as Go Matilda

12-14 weeks wait just for the ack email. mine was delivered on nov 23 and still no ack email but i am hopeful I should get it soon. As for NSW SS approval, that's another wait - maybe 2-3 months wait, not all early november applicants have an approval yet.

So there is no expiration to a Vetassess skills assessment taken place 5 years ago? If one were to get a new Vetassess skills assessment done today is there an expiration to it?
