  1. Hi Alan it states: “12 month(s) from the date of each arrival” and has the following conditions: 8503 - NO FURTHER STAY 8558 - MAXIMUM 12 MONTHS STAY IN 18 MONTHS 8501 - MAINTAIN HEALTH INSURANCE 8101 - NO WORK 8201 - MAXIMUM 3 MONTHS STUDY Any advice? Cheers Craig
  2. Hi Folks My parents are over at the moment on what I believe is a 3 years subclass 600 visa that allows them to spend 12 months in 18 months with multiple entries. Can anyone tell me if the visa conditions splits the 3 year visa into two consecutive 18 month periods with multiple entries? Or is it a case they can only be in country for 12 months of any 18 month period during that 3 year period (i.e. the 18 month windows are not consecutive)? The reason being they: Arrived in August 2016 Left OZ in late April 2017 (approx 9 months in Oz minus a 7 day Bali trip) Arrived back in Oz in late November 2017 (approx 6 months out of OZ) They are not sure if they have to leave in November 2018 or February 2019? They are hoping they have 3 months of the first 18 months to use first, then they go into the second 18 month window (where they could stay another 12 months). Or is it a case they have now started a new 12/18 month window, regardless of the fact they only spent 9/15 months in Oz since they activated the 3 year visa. In a way wasting 3 months of time they could of been in OZ. They have been to the local visa centre but no help and no response to their email they sent 60 days ago. Any help is appreciated Cheers C&K
  3. Hi We have received some conflicting information around the temp CPV (173) from a couple of migration agents. So looking for confirmation from the real experts- PIO community! Essentially we are trying to confirm Current processing times and whether my parents could visit on a holiday visa while their application is being processed? We are hoping the info they gave us on cost, applying for permanent visa and bridging visas are correct as they both said the same. Cheers Craig
  4. Hi Everyone Update from us is: Started end of March Advice received 2 weeks later Nomination 2 weeks after that CO appointed start of July Received approval and visa July 15th So just over 3 months for the whole process. Good luck to everyone still waiting or just applying. Cheers Kathleen and Craig
  5. She did them late July 2012. So it is tight in terms of it being within the 12 months. We expect the need for her to do new ones just to be safe.
  6. Thanks We assumed this was the case but as we are still within the 12 month period (just), that it could have been done. We have emailled the CO to ask, but suspect she will ask for a new one to be done.
  7. Just had a letter from CO asking for a few extra things. Medicals for Kathleen (we had hoped we could use the one from the 457 - As a nurse this was the same as the 187 requirements) More info on de facto relationship (supplied things like UK mortgage statements, utility bills, Oz rental agreements, utility bills) - not sure what else to send Change of name (Kathleen's family adopted their step-dad's surname when she was young, we have supplied the UK deeds relating to that - unsure what else we can send?) We have 28 days it says to supply these. Does that mean we should expect a decision not long after that? If so it's been very quick as we only started the process at the end of March.
  8. Hi We seem to be on the final leg of the 187 RSMS process which we started in April. Kathleen as a nurse undertook a full medical for our 457 visa last year. We had hoped that as this was only done in July 2012 (arrived in Oz on 457 in Sept 2012), they could use that for the RSMS visa too. I had not done any medicals for the 457 visa, so had to do them for the RSMS visa. We supplied a letter from the hospital in the UK confirming Kathleen had the medical and which Immigration office the results were sent to. The CO has asked for some further documentation, one of which is medicals for Kathleen. Should we clarify with the CO that they can/can't use the previous medical? Or should we just go and book a new medical? At $300+ it's not the end of the world but still would be nice not to have to pay out again. Thanks Craig
  9. Thanks for the feedback, we guessed 6-8 months so that seems to fit with other's experiences.
  10. We are 32 and 29, no kids and have settled in Craigburn farm/Blackwood Park, and we love it. It's close enough to walk into Blackwood for a meal etc, 25-30 minutes by car into the CBD where we both work (record is 19 minutes when all the lights were green on Unley Road). We have a couple of dogs so it's great for walking them. For us though we like to be close to the beach, the city, the restaurants, but at the same time we like to come away from it and have some quiet time! Craigburn farm does that for us. But as the saying goes.........courses for horses (or is it the other way round?)
  11. Hi Everyone Just thought we would join the thread as we wait for our 187 Visa (DE). We moved to Adelaide in September 2012 on a 457 visa but have been encouraged and assisted by my employer to get PR. We started the ball rolling at the end of March and the first 2 stages were completed relatively quickly. The Regional Certifying Body Advice was received within 3 weeks and the nomination was done within 2 weeks. We have since completed the third stage, the application and as we had a lot of the info required from the 457 visas (apart from medicals) that was submitted at the end of April. I guess we are just waiting for a case worker and then hopefully approval............ how long is a piece of string? Any thoughts on time scales or eager to hear about other's experiences. Thanks Craig
  12. After just 8 months in Oz on a 457 visa we were pursuaded to go PR through the direct entry stream by my employer. It has been really quick and less than 4 weeks later we have the first 2 stages ticked off (employer lodge nomination with SA Immigration and lodge online application). My employer now wants me to lodge our application. We have completed the online form but have a few questions which we hoped that might be answered by someone who has been through the process themselves recently. Do we list our current roles which we came over with on our 457 visa? If so what do you list as the end date seeing as we can't leave it blank etc? Will our certified documents from the UK which we used for the 457 visa last August still be valid for this application? My partner is a Nurse and had to do a medical for the 457 visa, is this still valid for the RSMS visa? Do we need new police checks? We thought we read we should only get Australian checks if we had lived here longer than 12 months, which we haven't. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Craig
  13. Hi Everyone We originally came out on a 457 visa in Sept 2012 but my employer has convinced me that we should apply for PR using the RSMS. They have started the ball rolling this week but wondered if anyone could give me a guess how long it may take? My employer thinks they can use a lot of the paperwork I supplied for my 457 visa last year. Thanks Craig
  14. Hi Everyone Been reading this thread for a while now and we started at page 1 onwards. There has been some great bits of info and some good advice but I am unsure how to apply this new found knowledge to our own circumstances. Which bits would apply/be eligible for etc. Our situation is that we are here on a 457 Visa and are looking to go PR soon. My sister has been here 3 years now and she has just become PR. My parents are very interested in joining us here soon too even if it is just for part of the year (ideally they would want to stay forever). They only have my sister and me so they are really wanting to be here too. My Dad is 59 in January next year and will be retired from the armed forces after 35+years, my mother will be 56 in April next year. They have looked at the parent and contributory visa and both have challenges. Obviously the wait for the parent visa and we are still not clear on age etc, then there is the cost of the contributory visa. They are not looking to work but simply retire. The pensions they have will keep them and they are looking to live between me or my sister. They may also be in a position to buy a property with the sale of their house in the UK. We are starting to think there is nothing they can do except apply for the parent visa and wait, take the decision to pay out for the contributory parent visa or just forget it and just keep coming out on a 3-6 month holiday visa. Any suggestions, places/people we should talk to etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Craig
  15. We have a couple of cocker spaniels and they fly out Sept 27 with PetAir. We are actually moving to Adelaide but Spotswood is the closest to us. It just helps that my sister (Craig's) is in Melbourne to go and visit them 2-3 times a week. She lives in Brunswick so only a 10 minute train journey away. We went and visited Spotswood at the beginning of June when we were out visiting and they were very helpful, location seemed quiet and just gave us that added reassurance we were looking for. As we fly out end of August we hope the 2 months without them is quick, we will be so busy finding them a new house to live in that we won't (hopefully) notice the time.
  16. Hi Tina At the moent they are also on James well beloved and it was the first food (after lots and lots of trials) that both will eat. We normally get them the lamb/rice version as they got fussy with the fish etc. Spotswood have said we can bring our own food but I don't think we can send a bag of jwb with them. So the plan was to either order/deliver straight there or ask my sister who lives in Melbourne to take a packet there a day or 2 before they arrive. Would just be good if they could try it here in the UK (or at least get used to it) before they have it for 30 days in Spotswood.
  17. Hi We are moving out in 5 weeks and our 2 dogs coming 6 weeks later. We are thinking about feeding them Eagle Pack when we are there but was wandering if it was possible to ship some over to the UK to get them used to it before they land. Is this even possible? One of them has had problems in the past with their food and our nightmare is while doing their 30 days in the slammer that he has "food issues". Thanks
  18. Hi Great thread and has been very helpful. Only question is.......... I requested a statement of service from my HR department (got fed up waiting for my manager to do it) and it came through today. Its basically a 4 line paragraph on NHS letter headed paper saying I am employed as a staff nurse and from what date. I have my original job description. If I were to get my manager to sign both of these documents would that be enough? I used the cpd template on another thread and plan to get my manager to sign that. Everything else I think I have ready. Just need to find a notary. Cheers

  21. Hi Sorry this is going to sound so lazy but after scrolling up and down this thread and others we are confused slightly over what we need to submit as part of the AHPRA registration. It seems from what we have read here it depends on situation etc. Ours is: Looking to go on a 457 VISA to SA Been advised by SA Health that we are to complete the AHPRA registration first then apply for the job, then VISA Been collecting School/College/University certificates Speaking to the above about transcripts (though the school have said we need to speak to the awarding bodies) Speaking to current HR team about evidence of my current role/training Speaking to NMC over registration document Updating CV in-line with AHPRA website Could anyone advise if the above (along with copies of passport) is enough supporting info. Also what needs to be certified and what doesn't etc. I have also noted that the University transcript (for example) can be sent straight to AHPRA yet my University has just given me the transcript to send myself. We hope to get this right first time to ensure there are little/no delays. Any advice would be appreciated. Also we have seen some posts saying you need transcripts of your qualifications and others saying you just need the certificates? Also which documents need to be signed/certified? Thanks Kathleen and Craig
  22. Actually ignore the second question as I just had a call from Manchester Uni and thye advised it is the Academic test she needs to sit. She couldn't help regarding the other points though but she thinks I may have to take the general IELTs test?
  23. Hi We are at the same crossroads. We are at the stage where we need to proceed one way or the other but though we see the benefits of using an agent we keep seeing the £££ signs for using that facility and it makes us question........could we do this ourselves? Then as you say you look at what needs to be done and its so scary. We are starting with the IELTs and collecting some of the other parts we know we will need. We hope by doing that we will shave some cost of using an agent if we proceed that way. Good luck Kathleen and Craig
  24. Hi All We are booking Kathleen onto the IELTS test in Manchester and we wondered if someone was able to help with the following: We are still undecided over VISAs regarding PR or TEMP>PR, does that affect whether Kathleen will need to take the IELTS? As a nurse will she need to sit the General or Academic test? As Kathleen is the Visa applicant, is it both of us or just Kathleen that needs to sit the test? As a native English speaker is the IELTS a major challenge with the right prep? She has been advised by some migration agents she would need to get a level 8? Its a bit of unknown entity so difficult to judge how difficult it may or may not be, we have bought the prep pack to help though. Thanks as always for the help. Hope to be in Birmingham this weekend for the Down Under event to collect more info and there is a talk going on in Manchester next week we will be attending. Cheers
