Hiya we wont know exactly which area but have looked at halls head, meadow springs, falcon all look very nice our buddies are waiting for us and we will decide properly when there. The are plenty of schools but you cannot register your children until your living in catchment area naturally ,so have just researched at lot online and here on PIO. There is one college I particularly like for my older boy called John Tonkin College looks good but like I said its really about getting out there, one thing for sure we will be taking it easy for a couple of weeks enjoying the sunshine and our friends pool!!

  6. Thanks for that yes it is such an anti climax hard to explain really dreading this part but cannot wait till its all out there, you think this day will never come and then its like ok have to go break a few hearts now but so happy and excited I know we will celebrate properly once both families have been told.

  9. Hi Taylors 4 We are exactly the same as you guys OH is a bricklayer and we are going on 489. I think we have two advantages here 1. living in regional area of which diac would obviously hope we would settle and 2.Bricklayers are in very high demand at present we are getting emails from agencies daily with tons of job offers starting immediately so Happy days all round:biggrin:
  10. Hi thanks for that I see you are on a 489 also, were are you planning on settling, have you moved yet sorry havent read earlier posts.
  11. Hi all, well we have got here C/O working on our file very happy with all docs, our police checks are done and we are going for medicals tomorrow, the hard work starts now.Have to sit my mam down later and tell her the truth havent been able to tell her yet as she is very reliant on me and it is going to break her heart and mine!! the hardest conversation I have to make to date, very happy with progress but with a very heavy heart at the emotional cost of it all.
  12. Hi there Just seen this, there is another way!!!!!!! we were in exactly the same situation, a lot of the building companies my OH worked for are gone also.Get onto to the companies registration office for advice they will tell you when the companies went bang and who liquidated them and the receivers name and details you may get it on the internet.Ring each one, by law they have to keep all details on the companies everything including all HR details, it took me two whole weeks of non stop calls and emails but I GOT WHAT WE NEEDED.They can access all relevant records of pay and length of contracts and so on.You are entitled to this info under freedom of information.Your local revenue office will also confirm employment details under FOI.I got letters of confirmation from each company there was 6 in total!!Plus back up from revenue I did all this without any help from agent as they were giving up on us and would not lodge the EOI.When I explained to the liquidators of these companies why I needed info they were very helpfu,l some were harder than others buy I actually took two weeks off work and hounded them! They were glad to send the letters just to get rid of me.Keep trying it can be done trust me best wishes any further info don't hesitate to ask
  13. Hi ya no not yet hoping this week maybe what do you think yourself?
  14. Great post Bob and thank you after 15 years in Perth lovely to read you are still loving it, it has given me more determination to go as the difficulty of such a big move bears down like a pain in my heart dropping my 10 year old to school and watching as all his friends follow him around, and the delight when the see him enter the yard, my boys are giving up so much but we are ever hopeful it will all be worth it they way it has for you. Thanks again.
  15. Hi there Send originals were asked and certify everything else from what I remember it was certified for all our stuff of which there was a lot as OH is self employed. Best Wishes
  16. Congratulations best wishes enjoy every minute
  17. Hi Etienne I am looking forward to responses for this question ,we will be traveling on a 475 very soon hopefully!! And are looking into this also.Agent has not given much details excecpt to say you just need to stick to your visa conditions and that it is no were near as difficult as the original application for the 475, has anyone any idea of costs for 887 whilst in Australia.?It is on the immi website but quite confusing Thanks
  18. Hi it should not be any more than a few weeks in total depending if your CO looks for more information good luck.
  19. Hi there You may be lucky to get sponsored but personally I think you would be mad, why would you want to be tied down to one employer?there are great opportunities for trades if you go the gsm route with state sponsorship including your skils assessment it should not costs what you are quoting, we have had everything for €7000 including skills assessment .You will spend this on your trip and more.
  20. Hope all goes well for you guys most people dont understand how great Ireland is and how we help each other out unless they have actually lived there....If we had less austerity and more sunshine most of us wouldn't dream of emigrating, best wishes for the future and well done for giving it a go.
  21. Hi there I completely agree with you we have had the all the chats and are very open about it when my son had his first phone about age 12/13 he pressed x on a football website and he was hounded by a solicting company with not very nice pictures he learned from that experience!!he was mortified! my sons phone is not working properly so he is unable to access the internet but they will at every opportunity once they hit their teens at the mo my younger boy has expressed an interest in a phone but we explained he did not need one just yet telling him the credit for it would use up all his pocket money that solved it for a while as he loves to buy treats!lol. But I do think parents are very naive giving young children laptops and unlimited internet usage, all guidelines state young children especially should be monitored online and pc should be in a family area were this is practical of course.I feel strongly that some parents really need to get real and take an interest in their children's online world and put some restrictions in place were necessary teaching them safe usage and when old enough the reasons why it is so important to keep safe online.
  22. Hi all Having waited for weeks for an EOI with nothing happening lodged our application in Aug'12 I was browsing on the WA website one day in late Oct and noticed their criteria had changed for SS from to have received an invitation to have applied for an invitation.I immediately got on to our agent who promptly applied for our SS.Less than two weeks later we had a CO and a week later our letter of SS approval. Not many working days later we have our invitation and our actual visa being lodged today!!We had kind of given up believing we would not get the invite to apply not knowing we could get SS first.Dont know how long agent knew this new info and it was only a couple of strongly worded emails did our papers get lodged but anyway we are here now and very exicted and very nervous all at the same time, leaving family and friends is going to be very tough but looking forward all the way to this brave new adventure.Agent states with no hold ups with medicals we should have our visa in 8 weeks:biggrin:.Good luck to all and keep the faith.
  23. Not sure which authority Vetassess simply carry out assessments on behalf of the TRA so same thing really look up their website you'l find all info there. You have to have work experience for the test the tester is a qualified trades person as in a carpenter or bricklayer themselves the tester will be fully competent in whatever they are testing you at so they will spot it immediately if you are not fully experienced Regards
  24. Hi Family of 4 We used an agent and too be honest I would recommend one.You need everything and anything trade certs, transcripts from technical college results, union subs, like has already been said references from merchants, accountants letters, even letters form revenue, bank references you need to be very clinical and organised they are very strict on you meeting the criteria and a lot of self employed fall down here.It takes a bit of time to get it all together at least two weeks any advice let me know we have been through this and came out the other end.
  25. This woman sounds crazy she is lucky it was just a scooter, she caused the damage and she is responsible end of story.I understand you not wanting any grief as I would be the same. But this woman sounds like a right bully and consider you are neighbours and you will be bumping into her you may need to put her firmly back in her place and the sooner the better. Good Luck
