  2. Hi ive just had interview for Hospital in the Home post working for Gold Coast, think i have the job although theyre just clarifying my working conditions! I used to be a community matron in the UK too! From what i understand its giving IV antibiotics, complex dressings, some chronic disease management, will let you know if and when i finally get job!!!
  3. hi can she not appeal? They recognised my previous experience and put on top band 5. Ive been qualified for 20 yr and was a band 7 for about 10, not sure if that made a difference. The casual rate is certainly appealing but at least she will accumulate hol and sick pay by being permanent
  4. Im in Helensvale, loving the Gold Coast! Have you decided where you will be living yet? Whats the job you have with QLD health?
  5. Always good to have both sides of a story. Have to say my experience was great from start to finish, delivered within the time frame, very fortunate not to be disturbed at customs, good experience at both ends
  6. Hi QLD recognised my prior experience so although im just a band 5 on the ward they put me on top RN which is just over $40 an hour shift allowance is reasonable too. Although i havent done it yet check out salary sacruficing as this ncreases your tax free allowance. My shifts are 7-3.30, 1-9.30, 9-7.30. Thats on a ward. Ive just a had a couple of interviews for community CN posts so fingers crossed as i hate shift work it was just a wAy to get my foot in the door! PS bring evidence of prior experience
  7. I'm a sole earner on approx $70000, just myself and my 17yr old son, I live much more comfortably than I did in UK, rent is $520 have enough for takeout once a week and eat out about once a fortnight with money left over, although sow stuff more expensive some is cheaper and some on par. We've had trips away too
  8. Whilst its glorious through the day we're feeling the chill first thing on a morning and on an evening. Just wondering which is cheapest? Reverse air con or plug in heater? Im not one for layering up! Had the reverse air con on tonight just for a few mins and done the trick so far.
  9. Im always suspicious of first time posters though i know we were all one ourselves
  10. Check out Amaysim, no contract just month to month, im happy with them
  11. Weather was my deciding factor, im on the Gold Coast and love it
  12. I found the general easier having done both, the reading and writing arent as intense
  13. Personally i would look at a further education college instead of sending him to a school. Might be worth emailing some to find out what he could access? They usually have courses for kids who havent done well at GCSEs maybe he could do something like that initially?
  14. I may be wrong but i dont think youll find that on the Gold Coast you can have both. Theres certainly plenty plenty of beaches but to get to Brisbane within an hour you need to live closer to the M1 which isnt within walking distance. There are a frw area such as Hope Island, Paradise Point that have little beach areas on the sides of the canals. However someone may be able to advise differently
  15. Low IgA is a immune deficiency disorder often associated with coeliac disease, can also be a cause of asthma, dont know much else sorry

    Form 80 ?????

I wasnt asked so didnt offer!
  17. Ive had a few huntsmen just outside the house, im trying to post pics but dont know how! i live on The Gold Coast. My house has been sprayed so even if anything gets in it dosent live long! I do have the odd gecko coming but they dont bother me
  18. I've been on my current ward for 6 weeks (I'm PR not 457 fwiw) and I was in charge my first day, have been several times since, I mentor students doing drug rounds, supervise several S8 drugs as 2 new grads can't, have 20 years of experience of nursing, all for an extra $10 an hour. This would be similar to an experienced nurse on a 457 that a new grad couldn't do.
  19. Of course but from a managers point of view you can only have so many new grads on shifts due to their limitations. I'm not saying it's right or wrong. That's a risk you take wherever you train to be nurse, many years ago when I qualified in the UK several from my group went into nursing homes until they could get back into the NHS.
  20. Do you have Facebook? There's a couple of groups where regular meet ups are arranged
  21. My son goes to the High School, it's lovely but very strict on catchment areas but I'm sure you'll find something. Just be care for Runaway Bay as not all of it falls into Helensvales catchment area, my friend lives there and couldn't get her daughter in
  22. I live in Helensvale and it's a lovely area. Hope Island is beautiful today, personally I wouldn't live in Coomera although housing seems a little cheaper. Keep an eye on realestate.com for rentals there's lots around. I'm on a few FB pages and there's often meet ups arranged for mams n babies, not sure if I can post names of groups but I can PM you
  23. I earn about $75000 and that's comfortable for me and my son, just the two of us. My breakdown is $2080 every 4 weeks rent for a 4 bed house with pool, $150 electric/month, $150 telstra/month, $800 shopping/month, $160 petrol/month, I don't have a car payment as bought it outright I manage to save a couple of hundred but as I say there's only 2 of us, no child care to pay for. Haven't had a water bill yet so don't know about that yet. I live on the Gold Coast.
