  1. I'm pretty sure they employer only has to pay resonible costs to fly him home if they end the contract.
  2. Pretty sure they dont care how you get tghe $$$ as long as you have it. (Not including any illegal ways) How do you think all the rich asain students survive here doing a 100k uni course? Mummy and Daddy!!
  3. I would also imagine the number of students working more than 40 hours a fortnight is very high too so for the scammers its a win win...
  4. +1 to this. Considering everyone has advised it would be good idea to contact an agent I think his comment was totally unjustified.
  5. From what i have read regarding marriage in another country, If the marriage is Legal in that country then it is legal in Australia.
  6. Tell them you are prepaird to pay the nominiation charge and the visa charge so no cost to them and that you have no alternative visa option.
  7. Hi Tracie, Credit in Australia is just like at home you will need to start fresh and build up a credit rating. It was also depend on what visa's you are on. I have found that mobile phone contracts and car loans are the easiest to obtain, although if you are new to Australia with no work history you would need to provide a large deposit for a car and probably proof of employer like a contract. An Aussie driving licence will be linked with your credit report and is a secuirty measure that helps your credit rating, your credit report will be created as soon as you apply for your first credit facility, like a mobile phone contract. and then you can build on that took me a couple years to get approvals for credit (Good credit) I'm pretty sure you will be ok with the card credit and will be a good start. Thanks
  8. On the letter does it say who you owe money too? If its something like ABC Ambulance Services then you wont have any issues with the visa, if the debt is in a government name and or hospital name then you may experiance issues. However saying that I would pay it off asap if you ever want any chance of credit facilities in Australia - I had a $200 unpaid elec bill and couldn't get any credit and it took 6 months for them to remove the default and cost me 0x as much for a good lawyer to get it removed.
  9. Good luck with the move back home life is too short to be unhappy.
  10. You do realise Perth is not in Victoria? and Geelong is?
  11. Isn't medical school 7 years? In that time Australia will probably have a whole different process / visa's / procedures! As above, put the Australia thing on the back burner for now leaving it to simmer away for a few years until you have the quals and experience to migrate!!! Good Luck with your plans.
  12. by free I mean medicare will pay it..
  13. If you have a UK passport it does not matter what visa you are on and will be able to get Medicare, first week you arrive sort that out, find a bulk billing Dr and when required see him / her and get you prescription at a chemist - your dr app will be free and you will get a small discount with the medicare for the pills.. (The pills may be expensive tho))
  14. Thats a good trade, but isnt it a licenced trade like an electrician - more hoops to jump through for a visa... (Dont hold me to this)
  15. I was doing 137kph in a 100kph limit in the middle of the outback coming home from a farm after a long day at work... The only other car on the road was coming towards me a distance away...... I slowed down but it was too late, that only other car was a police car and as soon as I looked BAM!! sirens on. Its my only ever speeding fine in 11 years and I was just tired and wanted to get home quick (there was nothing i could hit / hurt and I very rarely speed) $500 later and a stern warning later I was free to go!!! luckily I still had my UK licence otherwise I would have been given 9 dermerits too... Also another 3 k's an hour would have resulted in the car being towed and me having to go court... Lesson learned.. OP Dont worry about the fine....
  16. Some ideas, Communication technicians, fitters, welders (first class), most types of engineering Cooks, chefs, hotel management Gonna also +1 STORMY on nursing and medical HSE & Legal Just types ive noticed to be a good for potential visas. But................. Dont do something just to get to Australia, study something you actually enjoy because I'd bet you would be happier in the UK doing something you enjoy rather being in Australia doing something you hate...
  17. I done some work for the DTWD for skills assessments and I was the middleman between dtwd and VU... Many times the assessor would request video evidence and I would request it... wait 8 weeks to see a few minute mobile phone type videos of cooks, welders and mechanics... Assessors seem to find them acceptable - I didnt get it myself and VU cost a fortune...
  18. I think this may just be the 3 year review DIAC undertakes on approved sponsors, seems they have given you a date in March to re-apply when or if everything checks out ok. The agency I work for are also be investigated / reviewed and will not offer me sponsorship until further notice.

    Very homesick

Hi Mate, I'm probably the worst person to give advice about this kind of situation but I really feel for you. I hope you work something out, if you are feeling very depressed maybe going home isn't such a bad idea? I know you would miss your children but being depressed is the worst feeling ever. Maybe try living in the UK and then coming to Oz every 3 months for a two week holiday with your children. With Skype / Phones / cheapish flights its possible. Anyway, I hope someone with more experiance can offer some advice. Enjoy your day off!
  20. However, if you are staying at backpackers, I recommend The Strand Hotel. Clean, Tidy, above a pub and always has a great crowed of people.
  21. Hey mate, try the forums on gapyear there are more travellers on that forum, most of us on here are ex travellers / migrants. However welcome and if you decide to stay and need migration advice this is the place to be...
  22. Do they also get a supplied 2nd house in their area and an entertainment allowance too.
  23. I was just kidding, I hope to come home and find work that pays half decent money!
