Hi, unfortunately there is no way to transfer into any Aus Fire service. I am also a Fire-fighter and have emailed all the recuitment departments to no avail. They only recruit Australian citizens or people who have PR. My friend went out there (also a Fire-fighter) and ended up joining the police as he could not get in the Fire service. There is another guy on here who also is a Fire-fighter with a nurse as a girlfriend and he ended up joing the police as well! I think his screen name was Mrluvpants. At least you have a way of getting out there. I have to completely re-train in something before I can even think about applying for a visa.

Hi All, my wife and I are contemplating moving to Aus in the next few years. As far as I can tell our current jobs are pretty much useless when it comes to getting a visa so I am looking to re-train. I know this is a hard question to answer but what would be the best trade to re-train in? I was thinking of plastering but looking at some of the threads on here it looks like there isnt much work out there. I dont have any specific training in any trades so anything I take on will be starting from scratch. I know its hard to predict what trades will qualify you for a visa in a few years time but which ones seem to get the most work/be most in demand? Thanks!

At least you are lucky in the fact that they do recruit for police from overseas sometimes. I'm a fire-fighter desperate to move abroad and Im going to have learn a trade over the next few years to get there, wait till I have PR then I apply from the start. Don't know the answer to your questions but good luck! :smile:
