  1. If you wish to be accepted and welcomed in to a country like Australia (with all the benefits that go with it), then you MUST wait. It is a privilege, not a god-given right!
  2. Hi Has anyone applied for Victoria Police? If so, how was the Vetassess entry exam? Thanks M
  3. Closing all the loopholes IMO, and a good thing.
  4. Hi, we're living in St Kilda. We viewed a property through Cayzer Real Estate, http://www.cayzer.com.au/?gclid=CJPBxp_0qsECFQdwvAodd5AApg, offered 6-months rent in advance and moved in 12 hours later. St Kilda is a vibrant area, with great tram links to the CBD (25 minutes). There are plenty of apartments for lease at the moment, but you really need to be here to view them. There is one in our block, first from the beach, for $200/week advertised through Stuart Hocking. http://www.hockingstuart.com.au/office/stkilda/ Make sure you have an employment 'letter of intent', past rental history and references at hand. There are plenty of backpackers places to stay while you sort out permanent accommodation.
  5. This thread is 3 years old. Just email the guy
  6. May I also humbly suggest you take down your running photos from the site. It took me all of two minutes to find out your finish time (and lots of etcetera). If things are going to get tricky in your personal life, best to take all protection you can. Just saying. I'm not a stalker, it's my job
  7. Hi, Quick question. 2 people, 1 bedroom apartment, Melbourne. What would the monthly gas / electric / water work out at. I know it depends on a lot, but just need a ballpark figure so I can budget against an all inclusive property. Thanks
  8. Can anyone provide links for the above statements?
  9. He uses property.com.au realestate.com.au seek.com.au (estate) If you Google the email address, you'll see pages and pages of ads.
  10. Just a heads up POIers. Some dubious character is advertising false properties on many of the top real estate sites. He is using screen grabs from legitimate agencies so the advert looks kosher. The only difference is he says not to contact through the website but to email directly at rentalenquiry2@gmail.com I did this yesterday, and he replied immediately asking for personal details and a photograph. Obviously the next stage would be asking for a bond to secure the property, because he is conveniently out of the country, and he will post the keys (which would never arrive). He is advertising cheap properties throughout Australia, although some sites have removed his phoney ads today. Just saying...
  11. About $17,000 I think for the full year and $11,000 for the 3 month. I stand to be corrected though.
  12. If so. Please PM me. Looking for a 7-month stay. Cheers.
  13. [h=2]If a dispute with a neighbour makes you fear for your safety[/h]If a dispute with a neighbour escalates and you fear for your safety there are laws to protect you. You can get a personal safety intervention order if: you have been assaulted, harassed or threatened your property is damaged. [h=3]What you can do[/h]You can apply for a personal safety intervention order at any Magistrates’ Court in Victoria. However, if you have a non-violent dispute, the court will encourage you to try mediation. For more information about how to apply see Personal safety intervention orders. http://www.legalaid.vic.gov.au/find-legal-answers/disputes-with-neighbours
  14. I was asked for this when applying last year. To receive a PCC from Panama, you must have a relative there. It's insane, but the CO said he would accept a letter of good behaviour from the cruise line company. You'll be OK with that.
  15. How much does a driving test cost in Vic nowadays?
  16. Thanks for the replies. The newspapers are saying today that some people have waited 6 months for new passports. The problem is I'm heading back to Oz in 3 months, but I'll only be there for 6 months. I think I'll fast track. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2655619/What-passport-crisis-As-angry-families-face-ruined-summer-holidays-six-month-delays-extra-staff-drafted-Cameron-insists-situation-control.html
  17. Quick question: I have PR and the UK has a massive backlog in issuing new passports. If my airline and subsequent airports are OK with a 4-month expiry date, will there be problems in Australia. I will then renew from there. I've read on here that there is no 6-month limit in Oz. Just wondered if that had changed. Best
  18. I returned to the UK and then Europe for a brief spell. My CO then emailed and told me to return to Oz within 28 days to receive my visa. As soon as I landed, I received the email to say it had been granted. Be warned, though, if you remain in the UK for a period of time, you may be asked for a new PCC.
  19. Been married 20 years and the wife still uses her maiden name. We had no problem with the partner visa because of it.
  20. I always fly Royal Brunei, but be warned, your flight also stops off at Dubai for an hour (this is not advertised). You have to disembark and then almost immediately line up again to reboard. Brunei airport is still a dump (as of November last year). And you'll be there for around 8 hours. As regards to the seats, keep away from the bulkhead walls at the front. This is where the families with screaming kids are always seated. Don't know about the technical angle of things. Hope this is some help.
  21. Hi, Has anyone stayed here, or seen it: Campbellfield, Melbourne. I know the area but wondered about the site itself. It could be the answer to my 6-month annual stays in Melb. $225 per week including all services. Thanks in advance.
  22. I always stop in Nagambie en route to and from Shepparton. The locals are amazing.
  23. In Melbourne, you won't be allocated a CO for 12/13 months.
