  1. Hi all, I submitted my partner visa in December. Thought it would be useful to open this thread so that we can see each other's progress. I've completed my medical but the site has not been updated yet. Please update this thread when you get an update, I will do the same. Cheers!
  2. Hi all, I have a question regarding Partner Visa 309. Hope someone will be able to help me out. I am a PR holder in Australia, currently residing in Australia. However only been here for only a month. Therefore, I am still seeking employment. My wife and I are hoping to lodge her Partner visa application within this week, wanted to know if me not being employed currently would affect my wife's Partner visa processing in any way. Since it has been only a month since i got here, im sure i will be able to get a job within the next couple of weeks. However, I am also able to show a reasonable amount as savings, that I can show as proof saying I am able to support my wife for a reasonable timeframe even without a job. Pls let me know if this would be an issue or if there is a work around for this. Cheers, BMAP

  4. Hi all Thanks for the Quick replies on my previous post, so im here again we are applying for partner visa for myself (aus) and my uk fiance, and have a few questions (hope someone knows the answer) 1. We are booked up for the wedding in Oct 2015 and might be migrating to aus in december 2015, if we apply for a partner visa 6-12 months beforethe wedding using her previous last name will this be affected when we get married and her last name changes? 2. we will most likely apply for her to get a post dated passport 3 months before the wedding due to us needing to travel to aus in December for Xmas, will this affect a partner visa? 3. does anyone know how long a partner visa takes to be approved these days, apllying within the UK? Hope i have put this in the correct location? Cheers.

    What visa is best?

Hello all... Small explanation first on my situation then on to my questions I need help with. I am currently in a relationship with an Aus citizen (born and raised), and I am from the USA. Our relationship began online, we met in person in June, a 2 week stay turned into a month, I presently have a visitors visa (runs out May 26th) I came back in December for a 3 month stay and we have no doubt our relationship is for good. I am in the process of getting a divorce so we can not apply for a partners visa, so.... Our thoughts are once I return home in 2 weeks is to apply for a tourist visa for a year. Hoping the year is granted, will accept whatever is given. During the time I am back in Aus we will apply for a partners visa when my divorce is final. Is that the best way? Are tourist visa's hard to obtain? Would it be better to apply for another visitors visa? If that is the best option after the 3 months I know I have to leave AUS, but do I have to go back to the US? Or can I just go to Bali, or Thailand etc? How long must I be out of the country to re-enter and start another 3 months? If we choose to get married at the end of the year (whether it is tourist or visitor visa) is it better for him to come to the US and marry me and bring me back, or revert back to my earlier thought of applying for the partners visa? I have visited many sights but none of them state length of time I have to be gone etc...When I go home in March I hope to return mid-April. I want to do this the best way and of course legal, but really don't want us to be apart for any longer than necessary. We are ready for our lives to be settled and started, in the right way of course, here in Australia..(our dog does too) Any suggestions on the right way to proceed would be so much appreciated!!!
