  8. Hi, Im a uk plumber / gas fitter moving to perth in january. Does anyone know if they use analysers on appliances for combustion readings. They cost loads so not sure wether i should sell mine or bring it across . Thank you for your help Ian
  9. Hi mate, Don't lose any sleep about the assessment , if your a plumber it's a breeze . regarding the septic tanks , I had a leaflet that I downloaded from the wa plumbers site ( I think I deleted it) ill try and re find it and send it across ( pm me your e mail address ) Just tell them how they work, also with the sprinkler systems all they need to know is that there's are different coloured bulbs for different breakage temperatures ( I googled it ) i got a level 1 paperwork pass so he flicked through 80 % of the questions and ticked the boxes. The answers that your not ure about are underneath the questions , he seems to leave his arm so the answers are exposed . as I said, you'll walk it, don't worry . Afterwards you'll be thinking what a waste of Money that day was !!! good luck ian
  10. That's exactly the same as mine but I managed 7.5 for reading
  11. Hi im a plumber and I got a 176 pr visa i got 65 points I went through the vetasses route and I had to have my points before I lodged pI think ( can't quite remember ) that the TRA didn't give points out maybe I'm wrong but I'm sure you av the same as I did and I did ielts . he must be a Sparke if he's struggling !!!! Good luck ian
  12. Very stormy i personally disagree with you being caused of negative posts. your one that I take as posting honest answers and a big helper. probably the people who think they can walk into a mine job and you tell them it's different are the ones accusing you. thank you for your help ian
  13. Why to a good home ( there not live)!!!!! only kidding !!!!
  14. We have never been to Australia before and are ( 5 of us) coming over on a PR 176 in jan. this site and perthpoms has been a real bonus for myself, as its made me realise that it's going to be tough , going to be emotional ( ups and downs) and that you don't walk off a plane into a job and rental. i have seen more negative comments of late ( I'm on this site every night ), my opinion is by now I know which members post I can trust and I also know a handful that seem to either slaughter oz in every sentence or seem to be out to deter people in moving over . only members themselves know the truth , but without this site I'd be moving across with rosé tinted glasses on . im glad I found this site and cant wait to start outer new adventure next year ( if I can find work, rental , school , food , etc )!!!!!!!!!! thank you ian
  15. Hi mate, this is my opinion on this. i ve been a plumber since school 24 years now. i did a 4 year apprenticeship with YTS getting my city and guilds craft and advanced Brief history :I got laid off in the 1992 recession with only 3 months of my apprenticeship left, luck I a aged to find work self employed ad finished my course off on day release. while applying for our visa they picked this up stating that I'd not had 5 years supervised work, and the TRA weren't going to issue me the points I required. my agent stated my employment record and I got references from my boss ( when I was self employed ) and they issued me the points. thats how deep they go. Crazy I know but in a way they've got it right. ive got my level 3 overseas and when I arrive next jan I have to apply for a plumbers licence , do a 6 day gap training course and can only work for a licenced plumber. Even though this is going to be a massive pain in the ass, at least the chancers are going to be driven out. i wish the uk adopted this policy good luck ian
  16. Hi, yes I've looked into it. first I can only work for a licenced plumber as I would only have my provincial licence. to get a contractors licence ( self employed) you have to sit a plumbing course which is more to do with plumbing system designs and a business course. if we like Oz and stay ill definitely get my contractors licence . thanks for you advise all the best ian
  17. Thanks Stacey i believe it's hard to secure a job as a tradie from the uk. i need to get me licence etc , apparently you need to show them your date of arrival. Fingers crossed all the best ian
  18. Sorry I disagree. im a plumber in devon and I'm working evenings and have had to get an extra 4 guys in next week to finish off my workload before Christmas. every builder , plumber, tradie is busy here at the moment. The one thing that is over shadowing my move to Perth in january is that im already turning down loads of work for next year to not have anything in Perth , no job, no house, no school , not sure what suburb . Are we mad !!! ian
  19. Hi , we are in the process of booking our container and I remember seeing on this site a while ago a competitive insurance company for our goods ( going to perth ) we have a 20 ft container with no main expensive items . thank you for any help ian
  20. Hi , I'm in devon bloody cold wind at the moment . youll be lucky with 5 degrees here now have a good break ian
  21. Not horror stories , just town has gone to the dumps . alot of Eastern Europeans in town , creating a bad atmosphere with locals , they ( most of them ) want trouble and don't try to connect with the British. on the work front it's really busy, that's what's worrying me about the move , it's taking the shine off of things . cheers ian
  22. Hi mate, where abouts in devon are you. im in Cullompton ( that's why we're emergrating )!!!!! im very happy being a plumber , it's just all the horror stories I keep reading cheers ian
  23. Nice one , how did you pay or it ??? ian
