  1. Our agent told us under no circumstances can the date be changed
  2. Hi , just a quickie if anyone can help. we are moving to Perth hopefully mid January , I'm a plumber so I won't have a job to start when I arrive. how do I apply or rentals with this points scheme if I haven't got a job when we apply Thank you for any advise Ian
  3. Thanks guys, Im not in the position to talk about things in oz as I'm still in the uk, I read this forum all the time ( poms in oz, Perth poms , my I pad ) is my hobby now. I just stating that sometimes you come across posts/ threads that make you think about what there saying , as said , have they had bad experiences in Australia . too be honest If I find a good plumbing job in Perth ( please please ) I'm not going to come on here telling all the uk plumbers to come across and have a go, but again I wouldn't make up things like I saw today in a post saying WA plumbing licence board doesn't like giving out licences to poms. I've been in contact with them on a few occasions and found them very helpful along with energy safe Regards Ian
  4. I wish everyone would post as true and honest as yoou Thank you
  5. I've been a member on this site for just over a year now, for me this forum has been brilliant for assisting me getting my visa and my appending move to Perth next year. the question I have which has been playing on my mind for ages is, do some people post lies on this forum to try and deter others from moving across to Australia. For example cost of living , people post this cost this at that , then a senior member tells a different story, like a poster stating milk is $ 6 and the truth is $2 People saying don't come over as there is no work ( plumbing my field) only to speak to people in Perth that says there is. What I'm trying to say is that I can see why people try to be negative to deter others from the move as it could put pressure on their positions at work. the best thing for me about poms in oz is that there is always someone to correct an make believe post and telling the truth about the places we attend to live in. Please don't shoot me for this it's just a hunch that I have about certain posters / members Ian
  6. I don't live there but I don't think it's brilliant now ( don't take this quote as true) , I think every city has it problems . Even the small town we live in has been invaded by eastern europeans who are always scrapping and our population is only about 7000. So you get problems and idiots wherever you go
  7. I know that's the scary bit, hopefully we can find a quiet sort of suburb out of the city, somewhere away from the 'city life' would be nice . been looking at secret harbour way, and wanneroo NOR. At the moment we live about 15miles from Exeter and Taunton, if we go into Exeter shopping were in and out before 10:30 as it gets too busy and that's a small city !!!!
  8. I wouldn't take this a gospel considering that Plymouth is a ****hole . you can't compare living in a city to countryside life, completely different style of living ( I've lived in countryside for 40 years )
  9. my god, I'm going to miss my English football . If Australia can't even beat Scotland. 3-1 , what would happen to them if they played a Good side Italy 1 England 2 ( inexperience side)
  10. Same here Stacey, we're from a small Devon town and don't want a busy city life, exeter is too busy for us . everyone Is different, if you came from one of the uk's big city a suppose it woud be too quiet but hopefully just right for us country bumpkins
  11. hi mate, Sorry to jump in , I'm a plumber going to Perth on a PR 176 next jan , never been to Australia before . cant afford a reckie as got 3 kids as well . Do you know if there's more work NOR or SOR as we have earmarked some suburbs in both areas but work is a big must have and would sway the vote Cheers for any help Ian

  14. Hi, sleep on a plane , the thought would be nice !!!!! thank you
  15. Thank you Fiona friends of ours who live in settlers hills , Baldivis have insisted that we sty with them.( save us loads of $$$$ though) i was concerned as there are 5 of us , kids stress me out let alone staying in someone else's home . we will be looking at living either secret harbor area or around wanneroo / NOR im a plumber so it all depends on work offers. we have never even set foot in Australia so it's very scary and daunting , I'm giving up 11 years of my own plumbing business to make the move ( crazy) where are you living , any tips would be appreciated Thanks again ian
  16. hi, looking to book flights from Heathrow to Perth flying in Jan 2013 prices for 5 of us are very old but I can't seem to find any information on meals , refreshments etc which are included in price. we are looking at leaving London at 10:55 am arriving at Singapore at 7:30 local time and then arriving at Perth at 2.40 pm after a 2 hr stop over also are these times good for kids , I'm looking at leaving on a Thursday do arrive in Perth on Friday , hopefully having weekend to catch up on sleep Any advise would be appreciated Regards Ian
  17. This is making me scared , I'm moving to Perth early next year with my wife and 3 children 14,10 & 5 Im a plumber and looking on seek wages seem to be between $30/40 / hr, as I'm going to be the only wage earner to start with I am really concerned that we can survive on my wage. PP are you a PR as I believe you can get child tax allowance like in uk . im going on a 176 PR so hopefully potential employers will see I'm in fo the long haul Good luck Ian
