  1. Not sure about overnight as it gets expensive with hotels unless pomsonoz got a cheap block booking lol. I will keep an eye out on this thread still, as never know maybe someone with a car near me might be going. X
  2. Just seen this thread, thought oh august would be good for me. Just looked on national rail and bristol is just over four hours for me due to having to go to London first (no cross country trains going west) and back out again. If I went could only stay for an hour or two due to trains so will have to give it a miss. If there is one in London or even Midlands such as Birmingham would love to come at some point. Hope you all have a great time!
  3. If we were to settle somewhere properly in the UK then probably Cornwell maybe st Ives or Crantock. I didn't mind harrogate and Otley when I lived in Yorkshire. We currently live in the south east and we like it here have good schools and London and Cambridge are accessible fairly easily.
  4. Congratulations on the visa :-D I bet your really excited! Well done on doing it without an agent! All the best with the move over :cute:
  5. Have a look at this website, put in the job and you can get a list of the requirements/description of the job: http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Latestproducts/1220.0Search02013,%20Version%201.2?opendocument&tabname=Summary&prodno=1220.0&issue=2013,%20Version%201.2&num=&view=
  6. Hi welcome to the forums, I can only help with a little bit but sure someone else will be able to come along and help better. Comments in red. Sorry i can not be of much more use but have a look at the following link if you haven't already: http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/Find-a-visa.aspx Should tell you the requirements etc. Hopefully someone else can help better with your questions.
  7. Congratulations you must be so chuffed well done
  8. I have to agree with most of what pablo has said. It is good if the economy is picking up but I haven't felt it in my family. Every year our wages have been getting lower in relative terms with the price of goods getting higher but with no pay rise. Jobs appear harder to come by, I remember when I could get a job really easy and now its extremely difficult. Travel is more expensive both in local buses and trains and going abroad. Had a look at holidays and for the same holiday we did last year with the same dates its now £200 more expensive. We had to once last year use a food bank which was the most depressing thing I had to do (Due to banks closing my account for no reason, didn't owe them anything which meant all our incoming payments got bounced back until we had a new bank account sorted). Shops are closing down in our town and when new shops open they are charity shops. I used to work on London underground and I have mates who do not know if they will have a job at the end of the year and have mortgages to pay as their position is being made redundant. Personally I have not seen anything positive with the recession being over but I do hope that this changes soon and people like my family who are currently not very well off but scrap by even with both of us working can have better prospects in the meantime oh is going to pay to go back to college and train as a chef (At the moment his been training on the job and holds down two jobs to fund college part time in September), and I can keep job hunting for a better paid job. I better stop now before I rant any more lol. I think the point I am trying to make is the points pablo has made. And I am one of those annoying people who go to the reduction section (Though I do wait patiently and try and be fair) and put food in the freezer when there is the opportunity too.
  9. Fingers crossed on the transfer with your current employer. Best of luck!
  10. I didn't get any snow here last year :-S found the weather to be pleasant the last year with a record warm summer according. However enjoy your trip back to Perth and hopefully the reasons you left last time are solved. You heading back over soon? I would love to be in Perth :-)
  11. If you dislike Australia so much then leave. Unless you are in a prison cell then nobody is forcing you to stay you are your own person. Okay sounds like you have children who do not want to leave Australia but that is their decision.
  12. Wow you would have thought a warning/quiet word would have happened though I know as a visitor from the past you can get fined for the helmet aspect. I have heard Victoria fine heavier in price then other areas too. :-( Unfortunately I am unable to help but hopefully others will be able too. My only thinking is if your planning on coming back on another visa then you should differently pay the fine and then appeal anything you disagree on to avoid any record against you. Sorry I couldn't have been of any help.
  13. Hope the results come back okay from your mri scan. I agree with others about doing what you want to do and what makes you the happiest taking everything else out. Hope you feel better soon.

    A special place

    That's really pretty
  15. Haven't flown on their dreamliner so can't comment on the specs of the plane. Though can confirm Brunei airport is still very basic. I only had a 4 hour stop over at Brunei but I believe if you have over 5 you can pay a small amount to go on a city tour from the airport which then brings you back. Also second the stop over in dubai which isn't advertised. I had just under two hour stop over at dubai but actually enjoyed the extra stop with the little one though can be an inconvenience for some
  16. I would say not to make any decisions whilst your on holiday and wait until you get citizenship before making any decision. It sounds a difficult decision to make as being mortgage free is a very appealing situation to be in compared to having a big mortgage. Would you consider moving to another part of Oz which may be a little cheaper to get a property? Maybe lease your UK property on a short term (6 months) to give yourselves more time to decide? Either way I guess just make the decision where you feel your be more happiest and if you have citizenship in Australia you will always have options.
  17. If your looking at permanent residency then I would say get the visa first as then when you apply for jobs you can show you already have a visa so can move over.
  18. Hot summer yes please
  19. I have flown Malaysia and royal Brunei no issues with either. Royal Brunei didn't serve alcohol but you could bring your own though drinking on planes doesn't really bother us. As long as the plane gets you there safe and customer service is alright then it doesn't really matter unless you can afford to upgrade your ticket.
  20. Hi Do not have any personal experience but just had a look at the UK government website and it says "Your application will take at least 4 weeks from when your declaration form is received by Her Majesty’s Passport Office in the UK.Applications may take longer if: HM Passport Office need to ask you for more information or documents the photographs you send are rejected Don’t book any travel until you have a valid passport. If you need to travel more urgently, apply for an Emergency Travel Document" So fingers crossed it should come soon if there is no problems with the information or photographs. Otherwise could you apply for an emergency travel document? Hope it arrives soon for you! P.S it may be taking longer due to Easter holidays and more applications around this time of year.
  21. I think you can but I believe you normally need a bigger deposit and getting finance can be difficult. I believe the following website may help you about requirements: http://www.firb.gov.au/content/default.asp Don't have personal experience though.
  22. Well done that's really good and a huge encouragement to anybody else who has had to re-take. Well done :-)
  23. I hope this story isn't true that she wants to abort to go on Big Brother that would be terrifying disgusting especially with how far she is into her pregnancy! Certainly should not be allowed and she certainly isn't in the correct mind frame. If she did end up on Big Brother she will be kicked out within the first week she certainly wont get the fame she is craving.
  24. I agree with you it should be around half the price of a return. It is the same with train tickets really annoying. Have done some searching (I enjoy looking at flight prices sad I know) and I have found following: Having a look. Flying Manchester - Cairns 12th June can get flight £662 pp with Singapore Airlines (but with a 14 hour stop over in Singapore and then change at Brisbane) Manchester - Sydney 15 or 16th June £565 pp with Etihad then Sydney to Cairns is £63pp Manchester - Brisbane 17th June £573pp again with Singapore Airlines (no long stop over though) and then around £49pp from Brisbane to Cairns London to Cairns 21st June with Maylasia airlines & Qantas £662pp Skyscanner website is really good for comparing On average a return is coming out as around £100-£200pp more
