  1. Thanks for the replies. Tried to set up an account with Next and I needed a UK phone number. Shouldn't be too much of a problem to sort.
  2. Hi, Are there any online retailers like Next, BHS and M&S that allow you to make deliveries to friends and family in the UK but allow payment in AU $?
  3. We have been in Oz now for 18 months, I FIFO so living in the Noosa area wasn't going to be a problem as I only have to be at the airport once a month. We particularly liked Tewantin but after looking for 9 months and have a couple of house contracts fall through we gave up. House prices in the whole area are crazy, and frankly just not worth the money. We were looking at houses in the $600-700K price range, everyone seems to want to sell at auction but nothing ever sells on the day. We found the whole process frustrating. We were travelling up from Narangba 3 or 4 times every time I was home. We stopped negotiations on one house after 6 weeks of back and forth offers, the house eventually sold 3 months later for 15K less than our best offer. Even finding a rental is not as easy as it sounds. We love the whole Sunny Coast area and will probably look at making the move again once our youngest has left school.
  4. Thanks for the reply. Done a few transfers through Moneycorp and all was good, but might have a look around to see what deals are about for a larger amount. The exchange rate looks to have taken a bit of a dive at the moment.
  5. I have just sold my house in the UK and am looking to buy in Oz. Will I have to pay tax on the money I transfer over to put a deposit on a house in Oz. Someone I work with has told me that I will be taxed on anything over $10,000. Cheers, Stu.
  6. Sorry for the late reply. I work 2 on and 2 off and won't be home until next Thursday. I have located the reader so you are welcome to use it. Send me a PM and I will try to sort it out with you.
  7. Hello m8, I have a card reader here somewhere you would be welcome to use. I live in Narangba if that's any use to you.
  8. Am I allowed to buy some land with the intention of building a house on it for me and my family to live in?
  9. I know..I know.. I don't like to ask for advice and then not take it, but I can't shake off the tight wad in me. :ssign3:
  10. Thanks for all the reply's guys, very informative. Went to BBQ galore and spoke to a very helpful woman there. looked at the Ziggy and to be honest, it's just not what I want a BBQ to look like, don't like the plastic shelves and stand. Almost pulled the trigger on a Turbo Elite 2 burner with side burner, Quartz thing. Now back to square 1 as I just can't see how I can justify $1900. Went to Masters the next day and spoke to a very helpful chap there who I think has talked me into a "Char Broil" 4 burner with sided burner. $448. But I still have to old saying, "Buy Cheap, Buy Twice" ringing in my ears. Aghrrrrrrr..... Can anyone help me with a Jet Ski purchase? lol
  11. Yeh, I know what you mean, and that's the attitude I have when buying tools and things. Just have to give it a bigger coat of looking at. See if threre are any deals on tomorrow.
  12. Thanks for all the reply's, didn't realise that choosing a BBQ was going to be such a big decision. lol. It will mainly be used just for the 3 of us but I would like it to be big enough for say, 7 or 8 should we have some company. I had seen some nice shiny stainless steel ones in Masters and Bunnings, but don't want to waste $350 if they are useless. Seen some good reviews on the Zeigler and the Webber Q, but work out very expensive with extra plates and a stand. Think I will go to BBQ galore tomorrow and have a browse.
  13. Help required for kitchen shy pom. Looking to buy a BBQ in the next couple of weeks, all I know is that I want a 4 or 5 burner, trolley type, made of stainless Steel. Any suggestions recommendations greatly received. Cheap but not too cheap to be cheap and nasty, happy for it to be an investment.
  14. Thanks for the reply's everyone. Ideally we would like somewhere in the NVSHS catchment area so we can get our daughter into school as soon as possible. Burpengary Pines does look like a good cheap option though. Cheers guys. I have got my wife and daughter booked into a motel for the few days between our apartment rental running out and me getting back from work. I'm sure it will all be ok in the end.
  15. Hi Nic, Thanks for the tip, prices do look good, but unfortunately it's in the wrong direction for us. Looks like it's on the Gold Coast.
