  1. I called DIAC weeks ago, no CO assigned yet. But she did mention about 6 to 9 months (I applied offshore). I am just worried about the PCC that has a name error, waiting for my ''CO" to ask me to resubmit another one. Driving me crazy. :arghh:
  2. More than 3 months since I've submitted my second stage docs... Still no news yet. Very worried
  3. I carry my old passport with me which has the sticker on it, sometimes they ask (usually the Malaysian customs) to see the visa sticker. You need to fill in a form to inform the immigration about your new passport and the new passport has to be certified me thinks.
  4. My medicare card shows Ping Pong Lucy Liu and has been for the past 2 yrs. My SO said it's nothing big as i have to provide my passport for police check and other IDs anyway so might not be a biggie. I'm almost close to tears now... Sigh the stress!
  5. We just got our subclass 100 paperwork recently and i applied for my police check. I just realised the name on the certificate is... Hmmm how do i put it. I'm chinese, so let's say my legal chinese name is Liu Ping Pong and I'm also known as Lucy Liu. In the police check form, I put my First Given Name as Ping Pong, Other Given Name as Lucy Liu and Family Name as Liu. Guess what, my name on the cert appeared as Ping Pong Lucy Liu Liu. arghhhhh!!! Problem with chinese names. Will this be a problem for my second stage? I'm supposed to send off the paperwork tomorrow then off for holidays in a week for 2 weeks. will they request another police check if needed?

    How Much!!!

Wow that's expensive! We usually go to pacific seafood house for chinese but DO NOT ORDER FISH. We ordered fish for the first time last week or so and guess what, it was $80 per kilo. Our fish was almost 2 kilos  almost puked out all the fish LOL Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  7. Guys or girls? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  8. Why Perth may I ask? Sydney has the most IT jobs and more suited towards your qualifications, Melbourne a bit less but just gotta look harder. We are in Melbourne at the moment, but looking to move to Sydney as most banking and risk jobs are there...
  9. So our letter for second stage arrived!!! I was shocked, initially i thought they're supposed to send it next year in May (when I first activated my visa). Very excited and stressed at the same time. Doesn't help that i'm very busy at the moment with work... :dull: To summarize the second stage requirements... I need - Stat decs from me and my partner (this was included in the pack). We need to put 2 names each for references. From what I understand, we just need to give names, contact, etc and they would need to give stat decs upon request. Anybody had their references called up before? We're gonna put my boss, mum and 2 friends. - police check for me and partner - evidence (letters, bills, rental agreement, tax info, insurance, financials, pictures, the usual stuff). - copy of new & old passport (since i had mine renewed months ago but i did send them a form to update them of my new passport). Did I miss anything? AH SO EXCITED!! :chatterbox:
  10. I checked some areas in Malvern with that budget and a few 4BR houses are going for $600 with a huge garden/backyard. We viewed almost 20 properties before getting our current place! Good luck with your application!
  11. Or you can get a smaller place closer to the CBD? I've seen 2BR places near the CBD going for $400/pw but you gotta tram it to the city
  12. Does the 85k include super? Otherwise it would be just around $76k before tax? I'm currently earning about the same amount (but that was including super) and my partner is currently not working, I still send home $700 each month and our rent is $550/wk but we rent out the extra room for $200/wk to cover bills, etc. We are doing pretty okay with no big expenses, we don't even have proper furniture even after a year LOL. We still get to save some money after all expenses like food, fuel, etc. We don't eat out, maybe once every fortnight. Plus, with teenage kids you might wanna factor in the costs as well (movies, dates, etc)
  13. Congrats! I totally understand about not being able to sleep part :biglaugh:
  14. I didn't put my visa information in my resume, but the agent (recruiting/headhunting company) did ask for a copy of my visa, that's about it. Now that i'm hired by the bank directly, they didn't ask for my visa details assuming the agent passed it along? I've got a few calls from recruiters but they are never interested in my visa details!
  15. I can't remember much, but i guess my parents already knew that we will be moving to Melb (SO's aussie), so that is kinda expected. Just that I only told them after I bought my tickets (4 weeks or so notice), LOL!
  16. We just secured an apartment, and the application for the rent is a major pain in the a$$. Since the OH is Australian, he just needs to supply his photo ID, and for me, passport, and another supporting photo ID so I gave them my driving license. Plus, they would also want your proof of income, to see if you're able to pay the rent apparently? Isnt that what the bond is for? So we gave them OH's offer letter and they're pretty happy with that, i haven't receive my offer of employment by that time, so can't give them those. But they approved our application anyway... Paid bond, 1 wk of rent in deposit during application and remaining 3wks rent as first month's rent. Had to call up direct connect (http://www.directconnect.com.au/) to get our electricity/gas/water/etc hooked up as well - means we can't move in the next day (in malaysia, they never cut off the electricity/gas/water and it remains under the landlord's name all the time!). So it's a new experience for me! We're moving in tomorrow, hope there's electricity and water LOL.
