  1. I heard the reason why they dropped the price is because Netflix is making a move into Australia.
  2. I think you misunderstand what the MRT does, it's a tribunal that assesses if the decision on your application was correct. If you admit you didn't meet the requirements at the time of application then the MRT will reconfirm that and you have lost you money, they don't do discretion or compassion but simply make a fresh decision on your original application. If what you say is true you should prepare yourself for the walk of shame.
  3. I have had the old Microsoft scam and Telstra scam (even though I'm with Optus)
  4. It's very simple if you qualify for a 189 then there's no problem applying for one. The whole procedure is geared up so you can do it yourself as long as your situation is straight forward, if you have a tricky situation such as medical condition or dubious qualifications etc then you might need the services of an agent.
  5. You still need to be nominated by an approved SBS sponsor, an offer of a 1 year contract on its own wouldn't be enough.
  6. Possibly apprenticeship rates, at a guess the agent might be trying to define where training ends and post qualification experience starts.
  7. 333211 Fibrous Plasterer Is on both
  8. Yes so did I, if he starts his own business then it's a start up business http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/changes-457-program.htm He would be limited to max 12 month visa, his current visa still has 2 years on it.
  9. New business (less than a year) only allow 12 months on the applicants visa, you would probably need a new 12 month visa as the remaining 2 years is too much.
  10. Take care Jack, I'm going miss your delusional, epic failure plans.
  11. You have to be a citizen. If you are a PR you might get a waiver and serve for 6 months in the reserves on the condition you take citizenship without having to wait 4 years.
  12. Is it for an administration type role?
  13. I love reading this guys threads, the one where he was looking to be sponsored as a Customs or immigration officer is my favourite.
  14. To be fair on Blewyn there are companies out there who won't entertain 457 applicants, my own employer used to sponsor 457 and I used to work with at least 2 457 (who turned out to be rubbish btw) but they changed their policy last July and strictly PR, Citizens and NZers.
  15. No they don't, if there's a take over and there's a new ABN it's a different company. If they decided to change management and their policy there's nothing wrong with that, you going bring them to court and make them sponsor you for PR?
  16. Contract to sponsor after 2 years are useless, immigration rules & SOL lists can change and companies can be taken over or have change in management/policies. Nothing is guaranteed.
  17. I agree with AJ it's hardly groundbreaking news, this is exactly what the 457 is for simply a visa for disposable foreign staff. The old saying ...Easy come easy go.
  18. I find a lot of Chuggers are Brit backpackers, I usually steer them off by asking them how come they couldn't get a decent job. That usually ends the conversation.
  19. I live not far from Carlingford, I actually nearly bought a house there. It's close to the Hills and Macquarie Park and M2, also has a train station.
  20. Also you probably already know with a family the 457 is a tad more risky if things go south, there are no guarantees absolutely none. Although if you love the thrill of a good gamble on your future then it should be OK.
  21. He would need to work for 4 years at the Fair Work threshold of $129300 (usually goes up 5% each year). Otherwise unless he is nominated as a senior academic by a university in Australia nominated as a scientist, researcher or technical specialist by an Australian government scientific agency, including State and Territory government scientific agencies Nominated as a Minister of Religion by a religious institution nominated as a medical practitioner (ANZSCO Minor Group 253) applying through the Temporary Residence Transition stream: who have been working for their nominating employer as the holder of a subclass 457 visa for at least the four years immediately before applying and whose nominated position is located in regional Australia who have been working for their nominating employer as the holder of a Subclass 422 visa before becoming a holder of a Subclass 457 visa for the prescribed period of two years in the four years immediately before applying and whose nominated position is located in regional Australia.
  22. 457 is definitely not anything like a Permanent Resident, paying Tax has nothing to do with being a Permanent Resident. On a 457 you just claim to be resident in the country for Tax purposes. Doesn't mean you can remain in the country as a permanent Resident.
  23. SCV is for kiwis. Nothing special about a 457, think you might be on your own there. In regards to flights you might have to pay your own way home, otherwise if you don't leave you can be removed (deported) and Immigration try and recover the costs from the employer.
  24. Have you sought any advice on this? I thought to get an Advance under FEG you had to be a Permanent Resident, SCV or Citizen. Part 2—Eligibility for advance Division 1—Conditions of eligibility for advance Subdivision A—Basic conditions of eligibility 10 Conditions of eligibility for advance General conditions (1) A person is eligible for an advance if the Secretary is satisfied of all of the following: . . . (g) when the employment ended, the person was an Australian citizen or, under the Migration Act 1958, the holder of a permanent visa or a special category visa; http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/C2012A00159/Html/Text#_Toc342306456
