  1. Thankyou Alan Ive just been reading through the link and it does seem Ill be able to do it,however there is one part that is not clear. As Ill be coming back on a new visa, (a month after this current one has expired) will I still be able to do this early return?
  2. Yeh that may be an idea. I say that as building management at my apartments have 'lost' the photocopy of my passport. They said they want another, which I refused to give them. Gotta be careful with these type of documents as it just takes one pair of 'beady eyes' lol
  3. yeh that's fine i just thought I might tie everything related to this visa then start a fresh on the next one. thx
  4. Ah thankyou Lyndsey . The only thing is I'll be back within the year, however, I will be on a different visa, does that make a difference?
  5. When I aplly for my student visa I'll be disclosing quite a lot of information and one of those things will be my bank statements. that's ok but after speaking to my bank today and the security checks I had to go through, can anyone explain how Ozzie immigration just get to skip that and can get access to that type of information just by requesting it from my bank? Obviously the statements I will supply but being able to speak to my bank to find out all my details that easily does seem quite alarming. the more I think about it, the more I start to realise that this is quite worrying:what other personal info can they just get like that? Does anyone agree that this completely defies any privacy laws that might exist? There was a big thing about phone hacking in the uk not so long ago and it's quite well known that internet activity can be tracked/called upon, I'm just thinking now is there anything in any circumstance I can keep private?
  6. thx pumpkin tbh i quite quite like the tax refund, this year I got close to 4gs so I was pretty chuffed
  7. Thanks for your reply. Im slightly confused by your post though, does that mean you have never received a tax return? For the past two years I have had quite healthy refunds once Ive completed my returns. Perhaps its the visa I'm not sure. What Id like to know though is will I have to wait until next year to do my refund even though I will no longer be on a visa or in Australia?
  8. Hi guys Ive just received my tax-back for 2013-2014. My working holiday visa finishes in September and I will be leaving Oz then. The tax I have been deducted from the cut-off date of this year until the date I leave, will I be able to claim as soon as I leave Australia or will I have to wait until next year? Im guessing next year but thought it might be different as Im on a temporary visa?
  9. Thanks Blossom, that was a really honest and respectable post. Im starting to have my doubts aswell. Not just with the rules, or the cost, but also the general mood of the place. Very confused at the mo: I think about the money Im going to spend on education here could be spent on my own business in a happier, not so highly strung place where I might have a bit more of a life. But, who knows. Im still a bit sick that after 7 years of esl teaching, a job opportunity in the Uni I work at becomes available (esl teacher for adults) and the likelihood of them being able to sponsor me succesfully is doubtful, even though they want to sponsor me. Anyways I have no degree so back to square one. Obviously Australia isnt to blame for no degree, nevertheless, it is frustrating.
  10. Thx Blossom Do you mind me asking what you would do differently...was it in terms of education?
  11. Wow I'm not sure I would ever sell a house for an education. i can't show a 100g, no way, but I do have relatives in oz. If I had a letter from them saying they would be there if I needed support ( which I won't ) does that make any difference? I'll also have a letter from my employee( the uni I'm studying with ) saying I have 20 hour contract etc and also detailing why I am doing this degree( career progression with them). Will either of these help or hurt the application?
  12. Update Well I spoke to a Canadian girl and a Scottish girl today, both studying Bachelor degree, both in their 30s and last year they had to provide docs for funds. The Scottish girl provided proof of 60g and was told it was not enough. However neither had a job. Tbh though how many students ever have that type of money to show? Is it me or is 100g spare quite normal these days?
  13. Phew!! I have just been having a temporary breakdown
  14. So you have to apply 120 days before the course starts? What happens if you apply after that?
