  1. I just Love PIO. Of course negative and positive post welcome ...then we all take from them what we need. It's like been part of Q & A in ya own back yard ! ️
  2. yeh I'm going back a few years. I remember it being a ridiculously loooong form.....why would it be anything else!
  3. spouse visa (sub class 100).....to stay and work....about £2000, quite a long form and a medical to pass. If he's fit and well it won't be a problem. He would need to do the five year thing for citizenship.
  4. I have to agree with a few post on here. I thought I missed a lot more than I actually did! I thought i missed cheap clothes, English fish and chips, cheap food, nice smooth roads :cute: But now I'm back i think food in Coles is often really quite reasonable, clothes are cheaper in Kmart than Asda and those sleeping policemen are soooo annoying! I wouldn't trade my log fire and the Christmassy weather for all tea in Target though. Cold blast coming down from the north later this week....bring it on!! :xmas7:
  5. i found myself self liking the fish and chips there too although it's often pollock or hoki which isn't quite as nice as good old cod (with plenty of salt and VINEGAR!)
  6. It's clear you all think it's the best place for you and your children otherwise you would go back?
  7. The pamphlet is online. It used to be called 'A Common Bond' Its on the government website and all the questions you will be asked is in it. They used to tell you that on your invitation but its obviously changed.
  8. thats annoying :daydreaming: They (probably about 20 insurance companies) all said that they all used to accept non claims from outside Europe but no longer do. Seems I was 'ad.
  9. If that reply was to me ...like I said they used to ! but not now.
  10. I just have to chip in here. The UK doesnt recognise any no claims from my Oz history  They used to but dont now and I am forced to pay over 800 quid a year. I love the place but they are cashing in on this one!
  11. yeh i would just do as per their reply and keep that letter safe! i thought you couldnt transfer a P for a full UK....be interested to see how you go on as my lad is on red P and was wondering the same
  12. Our lovely, nearly new TV worked beautifully. We have Foxtel though and from memory we did have to buy a digibox for normal TV, 10 bucks.
  13. We can access Netflix here in the UK! Its been fab. It could be because we have bought our ipad here with us and the app just opens?
  14. I'm experiencing a feeling of relief when the cold air hits me now, but I'm in England! It's really weird like I'm remembering it when the heat was so oppressive and then you would walk I to an air conditioned shop.
  15. Ha ha. You couldn't possibly be deciding not to come to Australia?! ..... We will say we are making it harder to get in.
  16. Some people are trapped and unable to return. Kids/partners don't want to leave for example. Maybe to whinge is their coping mechanism.
  17. I found the Aussies fab when the chips were down so to speak. During the April storms in NSW folk did rally round just like they do back home. Also my children have been more than welcomed into their home. But they still have a chip on their shoulder and don't like the confidence which comes from us grown up immigrants.
  18. what does make them strange? I'm also interested. Do you mean a little intense?
  19. Mmmm....might find the winters too cold if your from SA So cold on the winter and hot in the summer? Sounds perfect. Lots of poms prefer Melbournes weather, I really struggle with the humidity of Sydney.
  20. Yeh I agree. Better exchange rate just using my NAB debit card in the local cash point! I transferred money last week via interbank transfer and was charged by both banks.
  21. Everything is is geared for the bad weather in the North! The flip side to that is the fantastic indoor facilities, huge sport centres everywhere. Right now I'm looking at The Chill Factor, an indoor alpine ski slope. Amazing. I agree, the short winter days are depressing, I'm still enjoying my glass of wine in the garden at 8pm though, not bad for Sept.
  22. I thought babies born in Australia are automatically Australian ?
