  1. Just sent you a message Julie. JOHN
  2. I am on holiday in the uk at present and have noticed how cheap cars are here. Is there any way of getting one of these babies back over to oz cost effectively? I am talking about a "normal" car not a prestige one. john
  3. Whatever. I am not going to get into a playground argument with someone who thinks that QLD laws that are in place to protect people, are on a par with what happened in nazi Germany. The OP asked would he get arrested if he did not give his name and address if required by a police officer. I have answered that and will not be contributing anymore to this "conversation".
  4. I am and I quote "one of those thugs in uniform" for QLD police. If an offence has been committed or is suspected of having been committed, police have the power to require your name and address and require proof of this. It is an offence to state a false name and address. You can be arrested and taken to the station so that checks can be carried out to establish your correct identity (Section 40 of the PPRA http://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/LE...ePowResA00.pdf ) Incidentally, police do not set the fines or receive any benefit from any fine. We are paid to enforce the rules not make them as Boganbear stated above. If you don't like them perhaps think of moving to a different state? JOHN
  5. Sorry got it mixed up with another thread that i was reading! http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/moving-back-uk/90507-16-months-thinking-going-home-new-post.html Now that is an old thread! ;-)
  6. This is an old thread and I have no idea whether the OP went back or not.
  7. Hi Guys We are subscribed to Foxtel as my wife needs her fix of the UK soaps! I am just wondering if anyone has a workaround so that you can watch UK TV on a TV? I know there are unblockers available but they mean that you have to watch UK programmes on a PC. Has anyone managed it? JOHN
  8. Ditto that. Real estate people wont take you seriously till you can personally view the house.

  12. As above. Im a cop and this happens all the time. If you don't pay and you come back to oz even for a visit, it will haunt you. JOHN

  19. Not quite sure where you found that page as it may be an old one that has not been deleted yet. If you take a look at http://www.policerecruit.qld.gov.au/ which is the police recruiting site, there is no mention of PACE. I went back to the academy a few weeks ago for a course and was told that PACE will definitely not be happening again as they have had a few dramas and ex coppers who want to join are going through the PROVE program the same as everyone else (which is saving them money). I just wanted to put this out there in case anyone got excited and were going to wait for PACE. JOHN
  20. Hi I'm interested in knowing if anyone brought over their pension or did something else with it. I have a Fire service pension and have been in discussions with a company that says that they can get hold of my pension and transfer it into a trust fund in Belize and from there I am able to withdraw the funds as I will be the only share holder. Basically I could take the funds now (tax free) as a personal loan payable on death to me (who will be dead!). I know it sounds a bit dodgy but I have done extensive research on the company and shareholders and its all legit. The other option is that I transfer the funds to my Qsuper account. I really would live to hear from anyone who has had the same dilemma or anyone who can point me in the right direction. Many thanks JOHN
  21. hi, My in laws are going for an aged parent visa and so will not have PR for some years. They want to bring their merc over. What are the tax implications and how much for your service? JOHN
  22. This info is wrong. QLD police is not running PACE again and are unlikely to be ever. JOHN
  23. The above comments are a load of rubbish! JOHN
