Hi Kimanda

Good to hear from you! Olympics must be fun. Slow and Steady is good way to go when you have time till October. I think however you guys should sort out the holiday rental....I think September onwards it starts to be peak season and occupancy goes up as do rents...i may be wrong

I am not in nursing unfortunately...If I was i think it would have been easier...

Ironically I am in Human Resources....I am the guy who typically hires people! and here i am looking practically unhirable....

Hiya

Where did you settle? Do you have kids?

The only reason I ask is because I was approached about an HR job in Perth and I'm not an HR specialist. But I think there was quite a bit of travelling and nights away from home. Xx

The thread had gone silent for a while, I felt like I was talking to myself!!! I'm glad to look back after a few days and some posts

Pradiprn I'm sorry you are feeling a bit stressed by the employment thing. Is it possible to join an agency so that they can find work for you? These things just take time I guess and from what my OH has been told many companies are not looking to employ people permanently at the moment, instead offering contracts of say 3 or 6 months. It makes it tough for us new to the country eh who aren't entitled to payments from the government yet. You'll get there though, and very soon I hope. It is very depressing depleting your savings and I can certainly relate, we have used so much of ours, but hope to be paying it back soon.

Kimanda I can't believe you are selling everything!!! Might be worth shipping a few small boxes of things that important to you. I moved over to NZ 8 years ago with 2 suitcases and a cat. I left the boxes of important things in UK with family. 8 years later I returned to UK and had a chance to look through those boxes. I sent 2 small boxes over to AU a few months ago and they are on their way. I'm so glad I managed to keep those things ;O) How is your OH having trouble with AHPRA? My hubby did his nursing registration through them a few weeks before we moved and it did take about a month. I would strongly recommend doing this early if thats his profession, you can't work without it. There's other things they make you do too when you get here which are mandatory - an Australian police check (done at Aus post), a working with children check (at same place but employer/agency will need to sign it first for you), some health checks etc. Its all pretty straightforward but can delay you by a couple of weeks.

We are doing pretty good as the nursing temp work is bringing in enough money to pay the bills. My OH just moved to the government agency which is probably the best one to be with as they get first pick of all the shifts. Us adults have survived the aussie flu, now its my 2 year old who has it :o( Somehow my 4 year old seems to have avoided it but I haven't counted on it just yet. The hospital where my OH is temping is hoping to offer a fixed term contract, I'm keen to move many hours from here but the options are not there right now. So we'll see. Very keen to move out of temp accommodation into our own place and to unpack our furniture once it arrives (its with customs right now I think).

Nishi how are things going with you?

Tooz did you get a telling off for missing a few days of work?

Hey Leanie,

I agree March gang has been silent lately and thus I haven't been posting too much here.

Well we were given shock of our lives last week when instead of grant, I received Natural Justice notice from my CO saying description of my work in reference letter and one given by my employer didn't quite match:em4600:. I need to comment on this and provide further evidence to prove my duties. After being depressed and shocked for a while, I got myself together and started working on it. The job in question is the one I left couple years ago in India and I'm in Australia at the moment, thus getting in touch with old colleagues and collecting documentary evidence of duties specifically performed. I anticipate sending off big bunch of proofs and my comment on their findings within a day or two.

I'm still quite hopeful, given the evidence I have of work performed by me, but of course 'the CO' will have the last say.

As far as I Know, the Letter from Natural Justice is not a good sign. I read few people have got the same Natural Justice Letter as yours but only one of them got the grant and it delayed his case by one more year.

Hoping you'll get a favourable response..

One more thing...Did You front loaded the medical or CO asked for Medical?.

Hi Leanie

Yep not shipping a thing! Tbh I have far too much anyway, plus I am looking into house sitting as an option while we get our feet on the ground!

If I could take one thing it would be my beloved leopard geckos - I'm gonna miss those little girls :(

OH has been emailing AHPRA back and forth - they can be so incompetent maybe it was just an inexperienced case officer -she didn't seem to understand the degree transcript we had to explain it in full to her!!

Anyway I think it's off for processing now so we should get details soon.

So house hunting now? Doesn't sound like you had a great experience-I hate the idea of viewing with others as well..

I really hope it doesn't turn out to be an even longer wait like this. Nishi has definitely had a long enough wait already. Here's hoping that if all is gathered the case officer will go to decision pretty quickly

Good luck Nishi

That's amazing Kimanda

I have half a mind to take my handbag and lipstick, shut the front door and get on the plane before any other mini disasters that might slow me down cross my path

house hunting has started for us. not such a joyful experience viewing a house in 10mins with 20 other strangers!!! the next hurdle for us now. how is everyone else getting on?

Ah joy! House hunting will be fun. Hope you have all the documents sorted out. Keep it ready and the moment you like a house run to the estate agents office and submit the application. Offer a little more than asking rent if you really really like be place.

Good luck with the house hunting!

Me and hubby fly out next month. Can't wait. Staying in shenton park till the end of November. Not looking forward to the house hunting either I must admit.

Have any of the march gang met up yet?

Shenton park is a beautiful suburb. We stayed there as well. Nope the march gang hasn't met up yet. There's only Leanie and me here as far as I can see. We should plan a meet up once all of you get here.

I know fabergas, this notice obviously is not a good sign. But all I can do is provide them original work done by me and stay hopeful. From my point of view, this notice was unfair and even after if it's been given, they should be satisfied with the proofs I'm providing. I know out of many with this natural justice letter, only two got the grants eventually. I'm hoping I would be the third one lucky.

Medical was actually requested by the CO.

Nishi very sad to hear the latest news but good on you for just sorting it out. Just provide them with everything you can which will be the truth of course, and all will be fine. I hope they sort out this small hurdle very soon and you WILL be the lucky third :o)

Pradiprn i went to a second viewing and the real estate agent couldn't get in the house! Its a shame as there were only a small number of people at that one. I have more lined up for tomorrow and one for saturday at this stage. Plus a couple on monday but thats going to be tough with only 1 car and hubby needs it for work (meaning i'll have to drop him off in city centre, then head 50kms home, and pick him up well past my girls bed time). But maybe it will all be worth it. I spoke to a very helpful real estate agent who told us exactly what we needed to apply so I have it all ready, pet resume and all, so we can apply on the day should we find something. she said there are way more people looking than properties available, but we have everything they need so hopefully someone will be cool with the dogs, I swear its the kids they should be more worried about though!

Kimanda, not very impressive what your other half is going through with AHPRA. they better sort it out soon. I like your idea with the house sitting, we signed up with one to do exactly the same but we had to follow the work. Got offered an awesome house sit about 1-2 hours from perth on a farm (totally our kind of thing) but there's no work out that way so we had to decline :o( There are lots of house sits all over WA so it could definitely work out, we are quite limited by our dogs and kids as to who will accept us. I like your idea of just packing the lippy! that would save a whole lot of hassle. I'm finding it expensive here though buying new stuff. I always thought of NZ as pricey but I'm not finding many bargains here so far. Maybe I am not looking in the right places. Still getting used to the gumtree instead of ebay equivalent.

Nishi very sorry to hear this has happened. but as long as you can get the evidence and make it as elaborate as possible, you should be hopeful. Do you know who was responsible for the mix up in the old company as far giving the exact details of the job was concerned. you should have a chat with them to help them understand the importance of the information they provide and if possible get them write a letter of clarification.

I can understand how disheartening it can be. but keep the faith. I pray things will work out for you

hello folks, how have u been. me and my wife were granted 176 WA SS on May1, and must enter by April 2013. hey i wana ask does my wife(secondary applicant) need to stay in WA for 2 years, or she can just validate the visa and return to WA after 1 year. so after one year when she comes, i would have already lived 1 year. also my visa is valid for 5 years, of which 1 year will go before i enter,so in the remaining 4 year duration how long do i need to live in Aus?

I think she can leave yes and it would be fine but you might want to check with your case officer. Your visa is activated once you get to Australia so it is 5 years from that date. Once you have been in Oz for 5years you can apply for citizenship.

As leanie says, she can leave after she has entered. If you are the primary applicant it is important that you stay in WA for 2 years. make sure you register as soon as you come in so that your two years start as soon as you get it. For the citizenship you need to have stayed for four years if i am not wrong out of which one year should be as a permanent resident and in the last year you should not have been out of Australia for a period of more than 90 days. however if you check out the eligibility for citizenship on immi.gov.au that will be more accurate and helpful

I thought you had to be resident for 5 years to get citizenship, is it only 4 years? In NZ I missed out on citizenship by about a year even though I'd been there for 8 years. In the end I didn't want to make a false declaration nor wait any longer hence the 176.
