Medical query

Hi,

Im hoping someone can tell me what we are physically required to do for the medical. My husband has hurt his shoulder and has AC joint seperation which means he has limited movement in it at the moment but will mend itself over time. Theres nothing that can be done for it apart from letting it rest (the silly bugger fell off his push bike when drunk!). Do we have to do much in terms of moving our bodies or is it mainly static stuff?

The medical itself seems hugely variable. I've read reports ranging from stripped to underwear and asked to jump around room, to asking to spell words backwards, to my medical which lasted about 3 minutes, and he hardly examined me at all and certainly didn't ask me to do anything (weighed/measured height, laid on table and checked reflexes, listened to heart for about 2 seconds through shirt, not a single question - done).

We had our Medicals done in Manchester, the doctor had us all (me,hubby and 2 kids) stripped down to our underwear, moved our legs, arms, head etc to check the joints and checked our reflex points too, also because I was over 40 he did a breast examination, didn't really bother me cause we got the Visa so we must all be fairly fit.

Hi, the medicals are nothing to worry about, I felt really worried (why I don't know) but it's just an eye test, hearing test, checking your blood pressure, weight, height, heart, (they found a heart murmer with me and I had to go to a specialist before my visa was granted), if on the whole you are healthy they will pass you. good luck:biggrin:

Hi we had our meds done in Brum last month and we only had to take our tops off. We were each behind a screen whilst he listened to our heart/lungs, felt our abdomen. he looked into our ears, eyes and mouth and asked questions. He made hubby move leg about as he had a hip resurfacing work done last year but not much else.

Brideycollette are you sure you hadnt joined a dance class by mistake??? :err: x

Guest boyllba

thanx for all the info on attending the meds. We have ours on monday(9th) at Edinburgh.

Has anyone and info on what the docs procedure seems to be at Edinburgh as all the posts seem to be about the hospitals in England. We have decided to front load meds and police checks/
