14 May 2010 : Sponsorship Application System - Shut Down

As advised on this website one month ago - The Online Sponsorship Application System has been SHUT DOWN until further notice.

  • There will be no access to the System for ANY GSM Sponsorship Applications during this time
  • If you have already submitted a Sponsorship Application Online AND the complete set of documents has been received by 14 May 2010, the application will proceed
  • If you have already submitted a Sponsorship Application Online BUT a complete set of documents has NOT been received by 14 May 2010, the application will NOT proceed. Progress of your application will depend on the SA State Migration Plans which are currently being developed. You will need to monitor this website for an update of the status of these applications and publication of the State Migration Plans
  • Note that Sponsorship applications for Offshore Visas are not being processed unless evidence of an appropriate visa application lodgement before 8 May 2010 with DIAC is provided
  • Do not ring Immigration SA for advice on re-instatement of the Online Sponsorship Application System. This information will be published on this website when available
  • You will need to monitor the website for re-instatement of this System.

cOPIED N PASTED FROM MAKE THE MOVE SA................DOES THAT MEAN THAT PEOPLE WHO R ALREADY SPONSORED BY STATE(SA) WILL NOT BE EFFECTED BY SMP? SINCE THE APPLICANTS ARE ALREADY SPONSORED MEANING ACCEPTED!

It was not until 19 July when DIAC stated:

2. Applications from people who are nominated by a state or territory government agency with a nominated occupation that is specified on that state or territory’s state migration plan.

My understanding is that the "old" state sponsorship is still valid even after SMP is released but there will no longer be any advantage in terms of the processing priority unless the occupation is specified on SMP.

I have called DIAC yesterday, and after 15 minutes of waiting and spending almost my entire Skype credits, a lady talked to me.

I explained to her my concern about my situation. I have applied in 2009, under a ASCO code (2129-79 - Building Engineers nec - Environmental engineers). Building engineers nec are not ont the new SOL, so that put´s me under Priority 4. But, Environmental Engineer is on the new SOL, but I checked the transitional arrangements from ASCO to ANZSCO, and I am not converted automatically to the new code. So I asked the lady if I should get a new skills assessment with the correct code, and if it´s possible to send it to DIAC, or if I would have to reapply for a visa.

The lady said she didn´t know. Said that they were doing police checkings at this time, and looking through all the files from everyone who has already applied, to see in which category they fall and to advise them if they should do anything, in cases like mine....She said it´s not fair to be in a situation like mine, so that´s why they were going through all files. She told me she was sending my file to this "special section" to be checked, and I would be contacted in 4 weeks to receive instructions.

Hi Carolina,

It's certainly going to be interesting to see what DIAC have to say about mapping across from ASCO to ANZCO. It seems to be complicated for many of the scientific/engineering occupations. I was looking at the correspondance tables and my asco code for Life Scientist maps across into two different occupations in ANZCO (life scientist, microbiologist). It will be interesting to see if either/both of these happen to be on NSW's SMP and what would happen to me!

Hope you hear some good news from DIAC in the next few weeks!

Ben

Hi Ben!

I guess not even DIAC knows exactly what to do...from what I understood, they are still adapting themselves...

In your case, neither microbiologist or life scientist are on the new SOL, right? So, your only hope is the SMP...but I am sure they will put you on that! We still have another option: to adopt you as our child! LOL

In my case, what is really frustrating, is that my occupation is on the new SOL, but it´s not automatically converted, and I am stuck under Priority 4....

Hang on Ben, just a few more months....

Carolina

maybe because some of the cat 4 peeps moved to cat 3? all im thinking all the time is counting the days til the SMP comes out.. after that, if it still doesn't want me to get to Aus soon, i give up waiting anymore after crying an ocean

I only need my money to be refunded and i'll be fine .. but STILL!!:cry:

Well, there's not much we can say at the moment knowing we are at the back of the queue.....Only the SMP can offer us hope & that is coming only after the Election. So some of us are taking a mini-break to stay sane & hopeful....

 No I think that Priority 4 applicants is probably pretty massive. It includes a load of the old Cat 5 SS tribe - plus many of the old Cat 6 and 7.

Some Cat 6 & 7 have also moved on up to Cat 3 - that has been one of the few joys for me - gives me hope that with the different changes that are always occurring some of us will be shuffled up again.

The main reason I haven't joined this list as I just can't bear to it would be like admitting defeat to myself and I'm not quite ready to do that.

Yep if I am in Priority 4 after the SMPs are announced I hope to spend less time on here and try to stay sane. Although the gov will probably tempt me to stay alert by announcing some new change to occur at sometime in the future (maybe they are hoping I will be put in an asylum before I get to Oz  they are having a good old try at it).

I agree with u mlsdq,

We can't be waiting 4ever, it might be settled on September. If they would have included the ASCO on the State Migration Plans "SMP" that means we could apply for it "as I know, it doesn't work automatically". If there is nothing new, that means we should be busy in this life's matter till the infinity days of waiting would be finished and the dream comes true.

We keep figure crossed till the end of this movie :cute:hopefully with a happy ending

Hi VickyMel,

Bf told me that it took them 8 years to migrate to Aus from UK 10 years ago as DIAC keeps changing rules, so i thought that's too much for me, but he's so against with the Cap and Cease bill and applications of yours and mine shouldn't be affected by that.. that's soo unfair!

Wow 8 years... gosh I hope not!

I'll be getting close to wanting a pension by then  and then they will really want to cap and cease me!

Have been feeling a bit miserable about it all the past couple of days starting to feel OK again.

We will get there even if we have to get in a boat and row.

Hi,

Its my birthday tomorrow and I just found out that the great job about to be offerred to me won't be anymore because they found someone local after two months of trying. I was hoping to go the subclass 121 Category 1 route, now I'm stuck in Category 4 until the SMPs come out. Some birthday! Let's hope I get a late birthday present from DIAC and I'm on the SMP.

Michael.
