Now I think I understood.... The problem is that I am from Brazil. I want to move to Australia for good. But of course I would like to visit Brazil once every two years or so.... So I guess, in this situation, I would have to ask for a renovationyear, if I have to come to Brazil on holidays before completing 2 years in Australia. After completing 2 years, I can ask for a 5 year renovation....and after 4 years in Australia, I can ask for a citizenship. Correct?

Oh OK.So, if I move today to Australia, like you said, and the visa expires in Feb/2016, it´s OK to stay there, right? After two years I have to validate it? or can I wait for 4 years to ask for citizenship?

Hello all! I have received the 175 Visa in 2011. I live in Brazil, and in 2012 I went to Australia for 1 month just to validate the visa. The Visa is valid for 5 years...what does this mean? If I move today to Australia....how long can I stay there? Do I have to ask for the visa to be renovated when it expires? Thank you... Carolina

Hello thank you for the reply. I have validated my visa while I was still married. But I guess if I apply for a partner visa, I will have to say that I have been through a divorce. Can we move to Australia (he with a student visa) and ask for a partner visa from there?

Hello, it has been a few years since the last time I was here at PomsinOz. My name is Carolina and I am from Brazil. I obtained the 175 visa. When I applied, I was married. I was the main applicant. I haven´t moved to Australia yet, but I am planning to move in 2015. Do I have to tell DIAC about the divorce? I have a boyfriend now, for almost one year. He wants to move to Australia as well. Can I add him under my visa? (Not sure how to ask this in English...) Thanks in advance, if anyone could help me....:frown: Carolina

Yeah, you could imagine my reaction....Don´t know what happens inside DIAC, everything so confusing....I have sent my reassesment letter a long time ago, but my CO was not aware about it..... I dind´t know that NSW provides off list nominations...if you look on their website, they say they don´t have quota for off-list. So I am sure we (this includes you) are not off-list. But it doesn´t matter anyway.... What it matters is that my CO gave me the green light to change my application back to 175, and this will not delay my application... I will send an email to NSW, hope they do it fast....

Hi, I asked my CO if it would change anything in my application if I decide to withdraw the SS, and he said no, that he is just waiting for my medicals to be cleared.

Hi Vicky, my CO said I have to write to NSW to ask for the withdrawl, and NSW has to tell DIAC about this......

Hi Colorana, thanks for sharing this with me. I have contacted my CO last week, and asked him nicely about being considered as a 175 instead of a 176. For my surprise, he told me that I could´t because I was a Category for, and with the SS, I became Cat 3. I was shocked. He also told me that my SS was considered as as "offlist nomination"....Weird, because I had to send them documents proving that I have 6 years of experience as an Environmental engineer. So I sent him right away the reassessment lettter, to show him that I was considered as a Environmental Engineer, and that I should be considered as a Category 3 (without the SS). Finally yesterday he sent me an email confirming that I am elegible for the 175 visa. But that I have to ask NSW to withdraw the SS and inform DIAC. I am not sure what to tell NSW to ask them to withdraw the SS.....

Hi Uli, I sent them the new reassessment letter, so I guessed that was enough. Now I am not so sure, because I didn´t make sure they received the lettter. Will ask them about this! Thanks!!!
