Guest The Ropey HOFF
Speak for yourself, not everyone will think what you and yorkshire pom think! But Tbh I don't care what others think about the job I am doing or will do. As long as I like it that's all that matters! Hi Britchickx i wasn't trying to undermine the fantastic job you do, my wife did this job and it takes the patience of a saint and someone with great professionalism to do such a difficult job, so all credit to you. I was only commenting on the dark side of peoples thoughts that we all have and yorkshirepom comes out with stuff that no one else dare. I hope you don't take offence, i wasn't directly referring to your job, only his comments. jim
Guest woj
I like my job as a maintenance fitter, different stuff to do every day. can be inside or outside. Decent money and possibly chance to progress into an engineering role in the future.
wakeboard1980
Its a bit awkward mate,he's diabetic,so not 100% on insurance wise, nothing else wrong with him like,6ft 2,14 stone, big healthy lad for 16,but you know the score with HSE tho!Thx for the suggestion tho andy That shouldn't cause much of an issue mate. Im a site manager in construction and on my last job we had a diabetic (plumber). We called the ambo's twice for him. After the second time we wouldnt let him come back to work till he got clearance from his doc and his company put in place a system for monitoring his blood sugar levels 3 times a day. It worked and everyone was happy. Don't let something like that stop him. Anyway. My missus hasnt liked her job (construction planner)n for the lats 2 years and my current job has just about beaten me in the last 6-9 months, so much so that thats the reason we applied for the partner visa now, and not in 18 months like we originally planned, I always wanted to eb a builder since i was about 12. Would love to work for myself on te tools but wasn't earning enough 6 years ago so got back into big stuff, 20-70m type stuff. Hopefully when I get back to Aus I start enjoying it again. Bobj
I am a computer specialist, I hate about it and want to change my career (I know it is a dream), however I cannot be sure what profession I should go for. Are you happy what you are doing in AU? What is your job and Would you suggest your job to other people? Sure am, mate...I fish every chance I get!! And I would think that 90% of people would be only too pleased to do it. Cheers, Bobj.

ali
I've been doing the same job (mental health nurse) for 28 years both here and in Aus. 99% of the time I love it .... 1% of the time I want a duvet day like everyone else. Nursing can be a rewarding career ... but it's also a very hard one.
BritChickx
I can imagine! Btw, I may be studying adult nursing at uni (I might do mental health), but I don't see adult nursing on the list?? It's got every other type of nursing apart from adult lol, does adult nursing come under a different name? :err:
Purple Princess
I hated my job as a Financial Adviser in the UK, that's why we've moved to Australia for a new career for me. So far I am a full time student doing a degree and full time mum & housewife and loving every minute of it  It's great going to Uni and learning again after 21 years....love spending time at home with daughter, being there for her both before and after school....and loving the cleaning!!! Couldn't do nursing though, I think it takes a special kind of person to do that and it's definately not me. Good luck with your studies. Guest enet
NO,i hate it! but then ive hated it for 20+ yrs so should have retrained/done something about it,my fault,i'd rather moan!!Your job sounds like the kind of job i'd love, but im clueless, only ever sent one email for instance, and that was just a reply!:biglaugh:the grass is allways greener i suppose? Whenever my nephew mentions an apprentiship on the building i say "no! get into computers",i suppose happiness in your job is quite a rare thing It sounds good, but doing the same thing every single day in front of a computer and never look to outside. Without understanding how time passed so fast with nothing.

Guest enet
I like doing what i do, i love the freedom of working for myself and not being bossed by anyone, if i want a day off or go early i can, also my future is in my own hands as i have to get all of my work so if i am short it is my problem, and i dont have to worry about being made redundant, so i am happy. It is very good for you my friend, you are one the luckiest people in the world. What are you doing ?

pinkk8
I am a computer specialist, I hate about it and want to change my career (I know it is a dream), however I cannot be sure what profession I should go for. Are you happy what you are doing in AU? What is your job and Would you suggest your job to other people? I was a secondary science teacher in England and now in Australia. I love teaching here and in the UK. I am thinking of leaving teaching in Australia due to poor wages. In England my partner (Engineer) and I earned the same money, in Australia he earns more than 2.5 times what I earn and it is demoralising how underpaid it is as a profession. I know of several people who have moved into teaching later in life, some have loved it but too many have the academic ability but lack the personality to be a successful teacher (and therefore enjoy the job). If you are thinking about teaching feel free to PM me.

Guest Silol
I'm a parent, housekeeper, teacher, nurse, coordinator, supervisor, manager, secretary, nutritionist, caretaker, personal assistant, life coach, bookkeeper, laundry maid, chief cook and dishwasher, taxi driver, motivational speaker, web designer and assistant to a self-employed husband. I don't get holiday pay, sick pay, or days off. I am on call 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Now, tell me YOUR job is harder than mine. But seriously, I love it and wouldn't have it any other way! Even my college qualification isn't gonna get me anywhere. This is what prompted me to think about my future and then finally deciding on nursing :cute:
louise28
I am currently an Office/Operations manager. I do enjoy it, but like any job i imagine, it can be very frustrating at times but equally rewarding!! I work for a small family business that covers nationwide in construction security, CCTV, Electronic alarms, Biometric access control, ie iris recognition etc. Quite techy stuff. Unfortunately I am handing my notice in next week! which i am actually really sad about, we are all like a family and they have done so much for me. BUT I am giving 7 months notice as i will need to train someone before I go! so from next Wednesday the countdown to Oz officially begins!! albeit a long one!!
