This is a timeline of people who have applied to Victoria State for State sponsorship visas (176/886) and Regional State sponsored (475/487).

Victoria's State sponsorship web site: Immigrate to Work and Live in Melbourne and Regional Victoria, Australia - Live in Victoria

NB: mid-2009 if you apply online make sure you get a tracking number SS-2009-***** see thread for comments on missing applications/documents there may have been a hiccup on the database?

They said that they never received it and to apply again. I have sent them printouts (I printed out confirmation pages and everything else to PDF file) because I did not want to loose time which I have already waited but they did not want to hear it and asked again to reapply. So I did, and got rejected eventually. My occupation is Computing professional - Network security specialist.

Hi Folks,

I was getting an email from the smp.applications@liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au and they send

this same one like one week ago.

In my opinion this is a automatic email...

I quote a part of it....

--------------------------------------------

Thank you for your email.

As previously advised, you appear to have an occupation that is currently included in our Skilled – Sponsored Eligibility list which means you may be eligible for state sponsorship under the Skilled – Sponsored visa category so your Skilled – Regional application has been closed and you are required to complete a new online application under the Skilled – Sponsored visa scheme as we are unable to transfer your information.

The Skilled – Sponsored visa is a permanent visa which would enable you to live and work anywhere in Victoria, whereas Skilled – Regional visa holders are restricted to living and working in regional Victoria only. Refer to our website for information regarding these different visas: Skilled Migrants - Live in Victoria.

You can check your eligibility for Skilled – Sponsored state sponsorship through the following link: Skilled Migrants - Live in Victoria.

If you are eligible to apply for sponsorship under the Skilled – Sponsored visa scheme, you can apply online: http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au/manageyouraccount/apply-for-visa-sponsorship.

You will need to include:

Your detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) or employment history – only send an English version.

A copy of any qualifications or trade certificates, or your skill assessment. Note that a skill assessment is not required at initial time of application if you do not already have one.

Please quote Reference Number : SR-2010-0xxxx in all of your communication to us.

------------------------------------------------

My questions in my email before were: Is my application still running , or need they some documents or whats going wrong with my application and they send me the same email again.....

Anyone received the same email ??

Regards Jazz

Hi Folks,

I was written my third email to this bug house company....

I asked them again whats wrong with my application or if they need more documents or something else and I am getting this response.

----------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your email.

As previously advised, your occupation is currently listed on our Skilled – Sponsored Eligibility List and we suggest you apply under this visa scheme and therefore have closed your Skilled – Regional application.

The Skilled – Sponsored visa is a permanent visa which would enable you to live and work anywhere in Victoria. The Skilled – Regional Sponsored visa is a temporary visa which restricts you to live and work in regional Victoria only. Please refer to our website for information regarding these different visas: Skilled Migrants - Live in Victoria.

You are now required to complete a new online application under the Skilled –Sponsored visa scheme as we are unable to transfer your information.

Please quote Reference Number : SR-2010-xxxxx in all of your communication to us.

What I do now is apply again for the SS , but I am lonely in the dark what was wrong with my first one ???

I will keep you in the loop....

Best wishes to all -JAZZ-

Guest khotkunal

Hello Jazz,

What I understand from their reply is that they want you to apply again for the 176 visa.

I do not understand what the logic is behind advising the applicant what visa he should apply but that is the case with these weird Vic immigration people.

Hope it works out fine at the end.

Best of luck.

Regards

KK...

I doubt that there was anything wrong with your first application but rather that they want you to apply for the 176 permanent visa rather than the 475 temporary rural visa.

The only negative is that you need to resubmit your application - the benefits are that you would have a permanent visa and would therefore be able to stay in Australia whereas the 475 is not permanent. You would also be able to work anywhere in Victoria whereas the 475 would mean you could not work in certain areas.

It is a better deal - if you are determined that the 475 is what you want then I think you would have to write back to them explaining why you think the 475 is better for you?

Good luck

Thanks Sunchasers I have added you to the first page. Good luck I hope you hear soon and can go the CSL route before it closes - otherwise maybe it might be useful to use the 176s after all.

Hi Jackalz

Welcome to the thread I have added you to the first page.

I would not worry about checking the application status on the web - as far as this thread is aware it never seems to have been updated for anyone. It sounds like VIC have your application OK as they have asked you for more details.

Every one hears sooner or later by email whether you are successful of not.

They seem to work on industryal panels which look at different occupation types at the same time - so when you see other IT hearing you should expect to hear back also.

Goodluck

I had a strange email from Victoria!! asking if I had received our Visa and that I had an obligation to tell them that I had received it!!!! I emailed them back to explain that of course we would let them know and we were eager to get it but according to recent information we could be waiting until the end of 2012? most odd. We are in Oz on holiday so whether they were notified that we were here? has anyone else had an email?

Hi

Yep we had a similar email (and unfortunately have been nowhere near Oz). I have heard other people mention them as well - I think they just come up everynow and then so that they can start sending you the surveys.

Did you have a great trip? I'm so jealous.

We are still here and wow what a country - it is so quiet and un-populated compared to the UK. People are sooooo friendly and chat and talk wherever you go. We have both been offered work, but of course we need the illusive VISA !!!! The only slight change is that I love Sydney and didnt really get a feel for Melbourne/Victoria. So lots to think about and the work we have been offered is also in Sydney.

But we shall see this is our first visit and lots to mull over. Weather has ben great in Sydney and cloudy in Melbourne. It is just so nice to see the sunshine, we will try and pack some and bring it back with us next week!!! :)

We are still here and wow what a country - it is so quiet and un-populated compared to the UK. People are sooooo friendly and chat and talk wherever you go. Excellent that you have job offers - now all you need is for them to offer to sponsor you.

Enjoy the rest of your stay - with luck the volcanic cloud over the UK and no-fly zone will force you to stay in Oz a bit longer.

Thanks Vickymel, we may have a sponsor as well - having a meeting with an employer on Monday, so will let you know how it goes. But even getting a sponsor then causes more issues! as I guess we would have to change the type of visa we apply for and we wouldnt get PR immediately, we would have to wait the 2 years.

So we may be tempted to wait until the new lists are available and the SMP as that may bump us up and give us the PR.

so many decisions!! and of course it will depend on the type of money that is offered. But still enjoying the sun, we went to "summer bay" yesterday and off to Bondi and Cooggee today. I broke my foot on day 4 of the holiday and looks like I will be upgraded on the flight home!!!

Bad news about the foot I hope it is holding up OK - I broke my big toe once it was agony trying to push the pedals in the car - owww! I hope it does not give you too much hassle.

I know about the worry with switching to 457 sponsorship we are applying for positions and IF we were to get lucky it is a bit of a worry what to do and whether to push for the 121

Thanks VickyMel. I hope everything's smooth. :)

Goodluck

Hi Guys,

The Live in Vic website states that the 176 lists have been updated on 19th April 2010, however the documents still shows last updated on 17th July 2009. Does anyone have any idea what they have updated on 19th?

Thanks & regards,

Nitsy

Thanks Nitsy that is useful info

The one I have on my computer (from when we were applying) is dated 15th May 2009 - I don't know if that was the last one.

Very odd this new one says July 09 on the document but April 2010 on the web site.
