Hi

A word of caution pl.

I would advise everyone to apply for 175 and keep SS as the last option.Eventhough we are on SS,no one is going to help and we cannot achieve anything by coming 2 or3 months early. The job market here is a bit cold and job agencies just dont encourage applicants just like that.

175 gives us the freedom of atleast moving around

Hi all

Just to update - we emailed Vic a week ago to see if there was any update. Got what looked like a standard response this morning saying they couldn't say when it would be processed due to the DIAC changes.

Slightly annoyed as they had said they would continue to process applications which had also applied to DIAC (which we have). I really thought we'd hear before 1st July!

I wonder if they will just assess us udner new SMP...whatever that might be...

The wait continues...

It sounds like a new standard response given the current changes - I hope you get lucky and that they are hanging on to current applications in order to process under the new SMP conditions. As annoying as it may be it may get you sorted quicker - us old SS may have to reapply? Who knows.

Hi

Just in case people have not seen HoriFTC's thread

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/89359-vic-state-migration-plan.html#post796170

State Migration Plan Changes to State Sponsorship - Live in Victoria

State Migration Plan

On 8 February 2010, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) announced that new arrangements would be introduced for state and territory governments to nominate applicants through the state sponsorship program. These require state and territory governments to develop a State Migration Plan identifying occupations eligible for nomination.

The Victorian Government is currently developing its State Migration Plan. Information about the plan and the sponsorship eligibility list will be available on this website when they are complete. Only occupations included on Victoria’s sponsorship eligibility list will be considered for nomination.

The new arrangements will be in place no earlier than August 2010.

Victorian Government State Sponsorship Applications

No further applications for Victorian Government state sponsorship will be accepted from 1 July 2010, to allow for implementation of the State Migration Plan. If your sponsorship application is currently in process, it will be considered under the new arrangements and you will be advised of the outcome. Please do not enquire on the progress of your application.

It may actually be good news for those people who have not heard as I see Alan Collett on another thread thinks that those with SS may have to reapply to be considered as SMP

I think I may give up....! Not sure how that leaves the Computing Professionals with specialisms. I think we may have to go back and pay to be reassessed with ACS on a new code.

I think I may just switch off untiL August, or it will drive me maaaaaddddd!!

Yup - its driving me a bit nuts too - as much as I know I should just switch off and forget this I am so desperate to hear if we have a chance with Oz or not.

Still kicking myself for not having a backup plan C (or is it D now???) and that we had not forked out for one of our other options -stupidly we keep putting other things off because we hope to hear something soon...

Good luck guys - hopefully for those in the pipeline with VIC it will be quicker if they are going to assess you for the SMP immediately.

I see someone in IT was rejected by VIC (BE forum) today so maybe no news is good news.

My timeline is as follows:

Application date: 23 March 2010 CSL

CO: 18 May

Grant: 9 July 2010

Initial entry date: April 2011

Thanks once again and will keep you posted about my plans.

Best of luck and wish you all get your visas soon...

Dear KK

Thanks for your wishes. There are definite job postings in bayside which is suitable for my profile. But the response here is prompt and cold.Day 1- you apply.Day-2 They acknowledge Day 3-You get a regret reply.

I would advise you not to register in too many website and post your resume.

It doesnt work here like that.your covering letter and cv should be specific to the job.I dont think they will respond if you apply sitting in India.(This is my experience and opinion).

Suddenly you get response from places you wouldnt expect. It varies from person to person. Also try to do courses like CAD/CAM,ACAD,Pro E ,Master Cam or SAP Entries. It may be handy if you wish to take entry level jobs during crisis.

But there are huge vacancy advertisements particularly -retail,aged care, child care, casual work, etc.

As people in this forum are concerned only about VIC SS,I will share the details through Private message with you

Hello Ulaganayagn,

Thanks for the update.

Yes I agree with you that it is difficult to get a job while sitting in India.

I am planning my move to come down there may be for a week or two around september or permanently in Jan 2011.Because the consultant told me that it is slow over there in Nov-Jan due to christmas..

Lets hope for the best..

I have sent you a message..

Thanks and regards

hi,

i want to come to victoria with my wife and son from england but still waiting for the new state migration plans, finges crossed........

Hi adw

Welcome to the VIC SS or what should be SMP thread.

I hope it goes well with your application - it looks as if VIC are delaying the SMPs until at least September now (and possibly later?)

see this thread

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/agents-information/91090-vic-government-announcement-re-their-state-migration-plan.html#post815025

Actually I am really pleased that VIC for once came out with the info sooner rather than later - I just hate the waiting to hear what is happening.

So thanks Victoria its good to know whats happening - even if it might not be what we want to hear

Good luck Adw when the SMPs come out

Hi all

Just logged on to track our Victoria State application on the Live in Victoria website and our status has changed to 'in progress' - quite surprised as previous posts have said that the status always remains blank...

Am quietly optimistic, but also a little scared as I saw on BE that someone got a rejection from Victoria today.

Fingers crossed. Anyone else checked their status recently?

Good luck - I hope you hear something soon.

Great news that VICs SS tracking site sounds like it is working. We got a survey to do asking about communications with VIC & the visa system. But when I did it it was mainly aimed at how VIC communicate with us. Maybe they have a new IT company sorting that side of things. If so that is brilliant as it was very frustrating having no idea. Mind you if it is like their replies to queried 'in progress' can span from the day they recieve the application to the day they grant the SS! Hopefully it is more informative - it would give them less correspondence if it was.

Victoria did in the past seem to do people of the same occupation type at the same time so if you see others of a similar occupation hopefully you will hear soon.

Hi all, not posted on this thread for a while as nothing has been happening with us at all. However, I do keep doing research and I have just found this link on the Live in Victoria website dated September 2010

https://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0008/209609/Regional-Victoria-Newsletter-Sept-2010.pdf

Do you think this may possibly be an early indication of the SMP? Please let me know your thoughts all as I feel as though I am just building my hopes up. My hubby is a motor mechanic and it states they are wanted in two of the regions.

Hi

Motor mechanics are of course in good demand in the whole of Victoria.I could see lot of advt in seek and local news papers. Also the regional coordinators are very informative and helpful. You can ask them over phone directly.
